Please, dry completely, best tumble-dry. Due to their volume, down and feather duvets should better be cleaned in a commercial laundry or at bedfeather cleaners´.

Usually, duvets consisting of two or three single duvets which can be attached together are separated before they are washed. Thus, you can wash them in a standard washing machine.

Use a mild detergent (e. g. gentle detergent suitable for wool) or a special detergent for down. Do not use any optical brighteners because they might harm the filling material. Mild detergents which are suitable for wool can perfectly be used to wash down and feathers too, because they consist of the same base material as wool, that is keratin.
Please, follow the temperatures and care instructions reported on the label.

It is most important to dry the bedding articles completely and thoroughly.

To this, the following is stated in the guideline of the coalition allergy prevention (Aktionsbündnis Allergieprävention):
"Bedding should be washed at temperatures of at least 55°C (...), preferably at temperatures exceeding 60°C (...). A study performed by Stazi et al. could establish a protective effect in wheezing patients [whistling noise during the expiration phase] when the linens were washed at temperatures exceeding 60°C (...). At this temperature, maximum decrease in mite concentration could be observed in comparison with lower temperatures“.
