Mundotêxtil: smart cotton towel saves up to 77.9% water in production

Home textiles manufacturer, Mundotêxtil Industries Textiles, SA, Caldas de Vizela/Portugal, has developed a unique and responsibly made cotton towel innovation that saves on water use, energy and CO2 emissions. Made from Ecotec smart cotton yarn by Marchi & Fildi SpA, Biella/Italy, the towel will be shown for the first time at the Heimtextil international trade fair for home and contract textiles from January 9-12, 2018 in Frankfurt/Germany.
Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi is the “smart” range of cotton yarns produced with an exclusive, made in Italy, transparent, traceable and certified process that transforms 100% pre-consumer pre-dyed cotton clippings into products with remarkable efficiency in terms of water, energy and CO2 savings. As confirmed by the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study, these figures highlight up to 56.3% of CO2 emissions, 56.6% in the consumption of energy resources and 77.9% in water consumption along the whole production process. Ecotec yarns can contain up to 80% of transformed pre-consumer cotton without compromising quality, versatility and richness of the yarn color palette.
This innovative range of Mundotêxtil towels offers high quality and performance, and includes products made 65% of Ecotec Polaris yarn in 100% cotton blended with organic cotton, and products made with Ecotec Chagall yarn containing cashmere.
