SHIMA SEIKI ITALIA S.p.A., Italian subsidiary of a leading Japanese computerized knitting solutions provider SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD., will exhibit at the 89th edition of the Pitti Immagine Filati exhibition in Florence, Italy from the 28th till the 30th of June. Because this edition of Pitti Filati will be a fusion of physical venue and online exhibit via Pitti Connect, increased importance is sure to be placed upon digitalization in the presentation of yarn.

In order to further support efforts in DX in the fashion industry, SHIMA SEIKI is presenting new online services at Pitti Filati. APEXFiz™ is SHIMA SEIKI’s first subscription-based design software and yarnbank™ a digital yarn sourcing web service for the knitting industry.

APEXFiz™ is the latest addition to SHIMA SEIKI’s proven SDS®-onE APEX series design system lineup, but with a big departure from the past. Whereas previous APEX-series design systems were offered as an all-in-one hardware/software package, for the first time in its nearly 40 years of design system development, SHIMA SEIKI has released its new APEXFiz™ as subscription-based design software that can be installed on customers’ individual computers. Maintaining proven functions that have made the APEX series so popular with fashion designers, with APEXFiz™ those strengths are now enhanced with the added versatility to adapt to different work styles and business environments including teleworking and telecommuting. APEXFiz™ software supports the creative side of fashion from planning and design to colorway evaluation, realistic fabric simulation and 3D virtual sampling. Virtual samples are a digitized version of sample making that are accurate enough to be used effectively as prototypes, replacing physical sampling and consequently reducing time, cost and material that otherwise go to waste. APEXFiz™ thereby helps to realize sustainability and digitally transform the fashion supply chain. APEXFiz™ is furthermore available in 5 different product variations that can be selected according to the customer’s needs, from APEXFiz™ Design Jr. to APEXFiz™ Design Pro.

APEXFiz™ is supported by another web service to enhance its user experience even more. yarnbank™ is one of the world's first online platforms for searching and downloading digitized yarns, developed in cooperation with yarn companies from around the world. Registered users can download yarn data for free, for use in fabric simulation and virtual sampling on APEXFiz™, avoiding the need to scan yarn on their own.

Flat knitting solutions provider SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. of Wakayama, Japan, together with its Hong Kong subsidiary SHIMA SEIKI (HonG KonG) LTD., will participate in the ITMA Asia + CITME 2020 exhibition to be held at the national Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China in June.

Through its exhibit theme—Step Beyond—SHIMA SEIKI will present its vision of the future, while addressing a variety of solutions for the new normal, including proposals in Factory Automation, Digital Transformation (DX), and various online solutions.

At ITMA Asia SHIMA SEIKI will be making proposals for factory automation centered around the special manufacturing capabilities of our WHOLEGARMENT® knitting machines. WHOLEGARMENT® knitwear can be knit in one entire piece without the need for linking or sewing, and allows for on-demand knitting. SHIMA SEIKI will present its WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology in the form of two of the latest machines. The flagship MACH2XS is the one of most advanced flat knitting machines, featuring proprietary four-needle bed and Slideneedle™ technology combined with spring-type moveable sinkers and i-DSCS+DTC® Digital Stitch Control System with Intelligence and Dynamic Tension Control, and capable of all-needle knitting of WHOLEGARMENT® items. MACH2XS is presented in ultrafine 18L gauge, shown for the first time in China. Also shown for the first time in China, MACH2VS, a flexible V-bed machine capable of knitting WHOLEGARMENT® knitwear using every other needle, or conventional shaped knitting using all needles. It also features spring-type moveable sinkers and i-DSCS+DTC® Digital Stitch Control System with Intelligence and Dynamic Tension Control. MACH2VS is presented in ultrafine 18G with auto yarn carriers as a prototype option.

ITMA Asia will also be the occasion for a sneak preview of next-Generation 4-bed WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology. The new machine is named SWG-XR, adopting the SWG moniker from the first-generation WHOLEGARMENT® knitting machine introduced back in 1995. The "X" represents 4 needle beds arranged in an Xshaped formation as per the original SWG-X machine, while "R" stands for Reborn and Revolution, referring to a renewal of SHIMA SEIKI's WHOLEGARMENT® knitting that raises the technology to unprecedented levels. By increasing the number of systems from 3 to 4 and featuring auto yarn carriers, SWG-XR allows even higher productivity and vastly improved range of knitting.

In order to further support efforts in DX in the fashion industry, SHIMA SEIKI has released three new online services over the past year which will also be showcased at ITMA Asia: 'APEXFiz™' subscription-based design software; 'yarnbank ™' digital yarn sourcing web service; and 'SHIMAnAVI™' e-learning service.

• Mimaki Europe auf der Innovate Textile & Apparel Virtual Trade Show

Amsterdam - Mimaki Europe präsentiert seine neuen Textildrucklösungen an einem virtuellen Stand auf der diesjährigen Innovate Textile & Apparel Virtual Trade Show (15. bis 30. Oktober 2020). An dem virtuellen Stand können Besucher, wie bei einer konventionellen Messe, Technik in Aktion sehen und mit den Mimaki-Vertretern über neue Markttrends und Lösungen zu neuen Anforderungen sprechen. Im Mittelpunkt des interaktiven Stands stehen zwei Drucker: der TS55-1800 – Sublimationsdrucker und Mimaki-Flaggschiff – und der neue Hybriddrucker TX300P-1800 MkII. Die Besucher profitieren außerdem von exklusiven Messeaktionen, darunter ein Sonderangebot für den TS300P-1800 und die Chance auf den Gewinn eines Sublimationsdruckers der Einstiegsklasse.

Der Sublimationsdruck ist eine bahnbrechende Technologie zum Bedrucken von Polyester, Textilien mit Polyesteranteil sowie Elastan. Er liefert hochwertige, strahlende Drucke und eignet sich für den On-demand-Betrieb. Der industrielle Produktionsdrucker TS55-1800 bietet diese Technologie, gepaart mit der von Mimaki bekannten Expertise und Innovationskraft. Zur Ausstattung gehören NCU (Nozzle Check Unit) zur Düsenprüfung und NRS (Nozzle Recovery System) zur Düsenwiederherstellung, Kerntechnologien von Mimaki, die verstopfte Düsen ohne Unterbrechung des Betriebs automatisch erkennen und ersetzen. Weiteres Technologiemerkmal: Ein MAPS (Mimaki Advanced Pass System) zur Vermeidung von Streifenbildung berechnet bei jedem Druckdurchgang mit einem speziellen Algorithmus den effektivsten Tropfenausstoß auf Basis von Farbe, Abdeckung und Geschwindigkeit.

Mit der optionalen „Mini Jumbo“-Rolle, die bis zu einem Viertel der Papierkosten sparen kann, und einem 10-Liter-Tintenbehälter bietet der Mimaki TS55-1800 die niedrigsten Betriebskosten unter seinesgleichen auf dem Markt und ist der ideale Produktionsdrucker für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen. Der JV300-160 Plus und der CG-160FXII, die erstmals in Deutschland zu sehen sein werden, zeichnen sich durch weitaus höhere Produktivität als Vorgängermodelle aus und bieten eine hervorragende Druckqualität bei höherer Druckgeschwindigkeit. Ermöglicht wird das durch MAPS4, die neueste Version des Mimaki Advanced Pass Systems. Mit einem speziellen Algorithmus berechnet MAPS4, wie Tintentropfen am besten so aufgesprüht werden können, dass sichtbare Streifenbildung vermieden wird. Zuverlässige Produktivität gewährleisten Mimakis bahnbrechende Technologien NCU (Nozzle Check Unit; Düsenprüfung) und NRS (Nozzle Recovery System; Düsenwiederherstellung). Eine brandneue, innovative Aufnahmeeinheit soll das Handling von Rollen von bis 45 kg ermöglichen und gleichzeitig das Verrutschen des Materials verhindern, wodurch ein reibungsloser, effizienterer Produktionsprozess gewährleistet ist.

Mimaki Engineering, ein Hersteller von Inkjetdruckern und Schneideplottern, hat heute über die weltweit erste Vorführung eines brandneuen digitalen Textil-Hybriddruckers aus der TX300P-Serie bei der ITMA 2019 informiert (20. bis 26. Juni in Barcelona, Halle 3, Stand B110). Besonderheit des neuen Druckers ist die Eignung für Textildirektdruck und Direkttransferdruck – damit wird eine beispiellose Flexibilität bei Tintenkombinationen und Substraten erreicht, was profitable neue Geschäftschancen eröffnet.

Das neue Drucksystem stellt eine Weiterentwicklung des Mimaki TX300P-1800 dar, der um die Möglichkeit des Direkttransferdrucks ergänzt wurde. Mimaki, ein führender Hersteller von Inkjetdruckern und Schneideplottern, darf sich über zwei Auszeichnungen der European Digital Press Association (EDP) freuen, die auf der FESPA 2019 im Rahmen eines jährlich stattfindenden Wettbewerbs verliehen wurden. Die Textildruckmaschine Tiger-1800B MkII von Mimaki war der Star des Tages: Sie wurde als „bester Rolle-zu-Rolle-Textildrucker“ in der Kategorie „Druckgeschwindigkeit über 100 m²/h“ und als „beste Lösung für die Vor- und Nachbehandlung“ in der Komplettausstattung mit der Rimslow TR-Serie ausgezeichnet.

Für die 13. Verleihung der EDP Awards wurden über 100 Beiträge in fünf Hauptkategorien eingereicht, von denen 28 ausgezeichnet wurden. Die Gewinner wurden nach zahlreichen Kriterien, darunter Qualität, Anwendernutzen und Umweltverträglichkeit, von 20 führenden Fachzeitschriften der Digitaldruckbranche ausgewählt, die über eine halbe Million Leser in 25 europäischen Ländern zählen.

Der Tiger-1800B MkII, ein Mitglied der Tiger Pro-Familie, ist eine Textildruckmaschine für den Großserien-Direktdruck und -Transferdruck. Sie erreicht eine Druckgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 385 m²/h. Dank ihrer Vielseitigkeit, Geschwindigkeit und einer Auflösung von bis zu 1200 x 1200 dpi können Produkte ohne Kompromisse in höchster Qualität hergestellt werden. Sie verarbeitet Gewebe und Papier aller Art und ist für Tapisserien, Innendekor, Mode und eine Vielzahl anderer Druckerzeugnisse geeignet.

For buyers that prioritise having the widest range of sourcing options in one place, their best bet is March’s Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. Boasting pavilions from Japan, Korea, Pakistan and Taiwan, individual exhibitors from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Vietnam, not to mention 2,800-plus Chinese exhibitors, the fair is the largest gathering of Asian suppliers under one roof for the spring / summer sourcing season. To ensure convenience for buyers, international exhibitors are grouped by country or region, while Chinese exhibitors are located in product halls including fabrics for casualwear, functional wear / sportswear, ladieswear, lingerie & swimwear, shirting and suiting, as well as for accessories and denim.

In total, around 3,300 exhibitors will showcase their apparel fabrics and accessories at the fair, with the SalonEurope zone hosting premium suppliers from Europe – including pavilions and zones from France, Germany, Italy and Turkey – while the International Hall also houses other overseas exhibitors from the likes of Argentina, Australia, Peru the US and elsewhere.

Japan Pavilion keeps ‘Banshu-Ori’ tradition alive
Organised by the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFW), the Japan Pavilion will house 22 exhibitors and also feature a Japan Trend Corner. After the immense popularity of this pavilion with buyers in previous editions, the organisers are in a good position to comment on the trends in the local market. “The now mature Chinese market tends to seek out very different types of products and purchase in smaller batches, which is a world away from the mass-production focus of the past,” JFW commented.

Included in this edition’s Japan Pavilion are three companies from the Nishiwaki region, which is famous for its ‘Banshu-Ori’, or Banshu weave. Banshu-Ori is a yarn-dyed fabric, woven into various patterns, such as checks and stripes, with yarns that are dyed before being woven by weaving machines. This tradition dates back to 1792, and will be showcased by Bon Co Ltd, Ueyama Orimono Corp and Kuwamura Co Ltd at the fair. Bon will showcase a range of new products using this traditional technique, including organic cotton fabrics, paper yarn fabrics and indigo items. Ueyama Orimono, which boasts Japan’s largest dyeing factory in Nishiwaki, designs its own fabrics in Tokyo, and will present cotton, cotton / linen and medium-thin yarn-dyed fabrics at the fair. Kuwamura will showcase fabrics based on 100% yarn-dyed cotton, as well as cotton and cotton-blend materials.

Taiwan Pavilion the place to find innovation
The Taiwan Pavilion, with over 40 participating companies, is a guaranteed source of innovation at the fair, with a number of exhibitors also offering eco-friendly options. Some of the highlights include:

• Keen Ching Industrial: they will have a number of their patented KCC-branded zippers at the fair including a durable double-coil zipper, an invisible zipper with a movable retainer box, a track type water-repellent zipper, a curved metal zipper and more.
• Handseltex Industrial: will showcase a wide range of products including lace, jacquard and mesh, made with the likes of organic cotton and recycled polyester with an eco-friendly production process.
• Paltex: the company’s ‘From Waste to Yarn’ regeneration system involves turning waste fishing nets and plastic bottles from the ocean into polyester and nylon fabrics, membranes and trimmings.
• Superwill: their unique gradient fabric combines specialty yarns and a special knitting process, and features a thickness that decreases from top to bottom. This design allows the fabric to be tailored to different garments.
• Tri Ocean Textile: will feature its own DreamFel® high-performance filament polypropylene yarn which is lightweight, durable and environmentally friendly, and used in sports & outdoor apparel and outdoor furniture.

The Taiwan Pavilion will be full of innovative textile solutions again this edition
The Korea and Pakistan Pavilions round out the Asian offerings. Nearly 60 Korean exhibitors will showcase predominantly manmade, fancy, knitted, acetate woven, tricot, jacquard, faux leather and printed fabrics, as well as lace and embroidery, for ladieswear, while other members will feature fabrics for sportswear and outdoor wear. Those from Pakistan, meanwhile, will feature in the Beyond Denim hall and offer a wide range of denim products.  

In addition to Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, four other textile fairs also take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center: Yarn Expo Spring, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, fashion garment fair CHIC and knitting fair PH Value.
