Plastic-based and composite battery casings have already demonstrated their potential to reduce weight and cost while enabling greater functional integration in automotive applications. But how can these benefits be transferred to trucks, buses and off-highway vehicles – particularly for smaller production volumes and different vehicle platforms?
Our next Lightweight TechTalk on July 22nd, 2026, at 11:00 AM CEST will explore the technological and economic potential of scalable, plastic-based battery casing solutions. The online session will be held in English and participation is free of charge.
AZL will provide insights into the current state of plastic and composite battery casing technologies, including material concepts, manufacturing approaches, safety requirements and available cost and performance indications. Based on the CYPRESS project, the session will also show how modular casing concepts can support different vehicle configurations, smaller production volumes and multi-application platforms.
Kautex Textron will complement the program with an industrial perspective on its Pentatonic battery enclosure technologies and integrated functions such as thermal management.
The TechTalk will also provide an outlook on the upcoming AZL Joint Partner Project, which will evaluate how cost, weight and functional integration benefits from automotive battery casing developments can be transferred to trucks, buses and off-highway vehicles.
