Animal Welfare & Quality - Zero Tolerance Seal in Bedding Practice
Language: GER + ENG (simultaneous translation)

The customer wants to be informed: Animal welfare is not just an important decision criterion for consumers when it comes to purchasing food. Therefore, the ethical sourcing of down and feathers as a by-product of poultry meat production is becoming increasingly important. Bedding producers, retail companies and consumers attach great importance to certificates and seals proofing that filling material neither comes from live plucking nor from foie gras production and that the rearing of the animals is controlled by independent third parties.

In the last three years after its start on 1 January 2017, the zero-tolerance standard DOWNPASS, which was designed for this filling material, has established itself as a major seal in the bedding industry. It fulfills the animal welfare criteria, and at the same time it is the only zero-tolerance standard that additionally focuses on and controls the top quality. The lecture explains the market significance of the standard and how to present this bundle of arguments to the end customer in a most convincing way.
