Resolutions adopted by the virtual Annual General Meeting of Lenzing AG

At the 77th Annual General Meeting of Lenzing AG, which was once again held virtually on April 14, 2021 via livestream due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the Managing Board and Supervisory Board were formally discharged from liability for the business year 2020. KPMG Austria GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungs- u. Steuerberatungsgesellschaft was appointed to serve as the auditor of the annual financial statements and consolidated annual financial statements for the business year 2021.

Furthermore, the Annual General Meeting adopted the resolution on the compensation to be paid to Supervisory Board members as well as the principles underlying the remuneration of the members of the Managing Board. In addition to financial performance criteria, the remuneration policy of Lenzing AG regulating the multi-year, performance-oriented remuneration paid to the Managing Board members will also be linked in the future to non-financial sustainability criteria (ESG) designed to further promote the sustainable business strategy of Lenzing AG.

Fully on track strategically
The Managing Board of Lenzing AG presented the business development of the year 2020, a strategic outlook and sustainability strategy including the relevant roadmap to achieve climate targets to the participating shareholders. In 2019, Lenzing made a strategic commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions per ton of product by 50 percent by the year 2030. The goal is to operate in a climate-neutral manner by 2050.

The substantial investments made in Thailand and Brazil not only support Lenzing in its transformation to a supplier of environmentally compatible specialty fibers but also comprise an important milestone on this journey which sustainably increases the company’s enterprise value.

The implementation of these two key projects is proceeding ahead as planned in spite of the direct impacts of the coronavirus crisis. The pulp plant in Brazil is scheduled to be put into operation in the first half of 2022 and will significantly increase Lenzing’s own in-house supply of dissolving pulp. Production in Thailand is expected to commence towards the end of 2021, further raising the share of eco-friendly specialty fibers in the Lenzing product portfolio.

New appointments to the Supervisory Board
Dr. Veit Sorger retired from the Supervisory Board of Lenzing AG on his request effective at the end of the Annual General Meeting. Veit Sorger had been a Member of the Supervisory Board since 2004 (also serving as Deputy Chairman since 2011) and served on various Supervisory Board committees.

The Annual General Meeting elected Dr. Markus Fürst, Managing Director of B&C Industrieholding GmbH, and Thomas Cord Prinzhorn, MBA, CEO of Prinzhorn Holding GmbH, to serve on the Supervisory Board until the end of the Annual General Meeting resolving upon the discharge of the Supervisory Board members for the business year 2024.

Autoneum Holding AG Annual General Meeting

The shareholders of Autoneum Holding Ltd approved all proposals of the Board of Directors at today’s Annual General Meeting and agreed to forgo dividend payments. Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli were newly elected to the Board of Directors. Based on Art. 27 of the Covid-19 Ordinance 3, the Board of Directors of Autoneum Holding Ltd decided to hold the 2021 Annual General Meeting without physical attendance by the shareholders. For this reason, the Company had asked them in advance to exercise their rights exclusively via the Independent Proxy. He represented 63.5% of a total of 4 672 363 shares.

The shareholders of Autoneum Holding Ltd approved all proposals of the Board of Directors at today’s Annual General Meeting and agreed to forgo dividend payments. The shareholders approved the Annual Report, the Annual Financial Statements and the Consolidated Financial Statements 2020. In view of the net loss in the 2020 financial year, the Board of Directors proposed forgoing dividend payments, which was approved by a large majority of the shareholders. Hans-Peter Schwald, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said: “2020 was extremely challenging for the entire automobile industry and also for Autoneum. The pandemic-related drop in revenue has impacted profitability. Despite the net loss, Autoneum reached important financial improvements in 2020. We expect to return to profitability in 2021 and our aim to distribute at least 30% of the net profit attributable to Autoneum shareholders as dividends remains unchanged. The Board of Directors, the Group Executive Board and the Company as a whole are committed fully to ensuring that Autoneum continues to make significant operational and financial improvements.”

Chairman Hans-Peter Schwald and the other members of the Board of Directors, Rainer Schmückle, Norbert Indlekofer, Michael Pieper, This E. Schneider and Ferdinand Stutz were confirmed in office. Newly elected to the Board of Directors were Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli.

With Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli and the resignation of Peter Spuhler, who did not stand for reelection in order to be able to focus on managing Stadler Rail, the Board of Directors of Autoneum Holding Ltd has expanded from seven to eight members. Hans-Peter Schwald explained: “The expertise of Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli in the areas of finance and corporate management is of great value to Autoneum. As the Board of Directors, we look forward to this enhancement to the Board and to working with both of them.”

Peter Spuhler has been an important driving force since the Company became independent, he played a major role in shaping Autoneum thanks to his entrepreneurial expertise and showed great commitment to the Company. The Board of Directors thanks him sincerely and wishes him continued success.

This E. Schneider, Hans-Peter Schwald and Ferdinand Stutz were re-elected to the Compensation Committee. Oliver Streuli was elected as a new member of this committee. In addition, the shareholders of Autoneum Holding Ltd granted discharge to all members of the Board of Directors and the Group Executive Board with a large majority.

The consultative vote on the 2020 remuneration report was approved by 83.4%. Due to the severe impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Group’s business development, the members of the Board of Directors renounced half of their compensation for the 2020 financial year and, in order to  align their remuneration with shareholder interests, decided to receive it entirely in Autoneum shares. In addition, a waiver of salary amounting to 10% of the basic salary for a period of three months was agreed upon with the senior management as part of a reduction of personnel costs.

The proposals for the remuneration of the Board of Directors and the Group Executive Board for the 2022 financial year as well as the other proposals were also approved by a large majority.

NCTO: State of the U.S. Textile Industry Address

National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) Chairman David Roberts, who was re-elected for the 2020-2021 term, delivered the trade association’s State of the U.S. textile industry overview at NCTO’s 17th Annual Meeting on March 24.

Mr. Roberts’s speech outlined (1) the U.S. textile industry’s heroic efforts producing PPE in the face of a once-in-a-generation pandemic (2) U.S. textile supply chain, economic, trade data, and (3) NCTO’s 2020 policy priorities for domestic textile manufacturers.

A link of his remarks as prepared for delivery are included in this press statement along with a link to a data infographic prepared by NCTO illustrating the current economic status of the U.S. textile industry.

Mr. Roberts is CEO of Cap Yarns, Inc., a South Carolina specialty yarn manufacturer and a leader in developing unique yarns for the knitting and weaving industry.

NCTO elects Chairman, Council Chairs and Board Members

The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), representing the full spectrum of U.S. textiles from fiber through finished sewn products, held its officer elections for fiscal year 2021 today.

NCTO has re-elected David Roberts, CEO of Cap Yarns, as Chairman and David Poston, President of Palmetto Synthetics, as Vice Chairman.

In addition to the appointment of a new chairman and vice chairman, NCTO elected chairs for each of its four councils. NCTO is comprised of four councils to ensure a broad representation of the industry supply chain. Each council has an allotted number of members who are elected to the association’s Board of Directors, in addition to the Executive Committee.*

“This is a critical juncture for our industry, which answered the call of the nation to produce lifesaving personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic,” said NCTO President and CEO Kim. “We will continue to engage with all stakeholders to press for policies that support the industry overall, help onshore PPE production and create a permanent domestic supply chain.”

PCMC names Stan Blakney as President of global operations

Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) is pleased to announce that Stan Blakney has accepted the position of President of its global operations. In addition to leading the company’s US business, as he has since February 2019, Blakney now will assume leadership of operations in Italy and Serbia as well.

Michael Pieper, a member of the Board of Directors of Rieter Holding AG since 2009, has informed Rieter that Artemis Beteiligungen I AG has sold its 11.5% block of shares to the Picanol Group (Picanol NV), Belgium, and that he thus will not stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting on April 15, 2021.

Michael Pieper has supported and helped to significantly shape the development of Rieter for more than ten years. He joined Rieter as a major shareholder in 2008, and since then has been strongly involved in the strategic realignment of the group.

In addition, Stefaan Haspeslagh has also been Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Tessenderlo Group NV, Belgium, since 2014. As a director of Cellpack NV, Belgium, he has been in office since 2001.

“Rieter welcomes the new major shareholder, Picanol NV. Luc Tack, majority shareholder and CEO of Picanol, has been a member of the Board of Directors of Rieter for four years. On receiving the award, Mostafiz said he wants to be a game-changer in the apparel industry, leading by example to inspire others to behave responsibly and ethically.

He also dedicated the award to H&M which, he explained, supported his business, Denim Expert, through the pandemic by continuing to place orders He said the loyal support of the Swedish fashion giant almost certainly helped save the livelihoods of 2000 workers at his factory and their 10000 family members. “That’s true sustainability leadership,” he said.

The Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards recognise steps being made in reducing the fashion industry’s environmental impact and creating fairer working conditions across the supply chain.
Judged by an independent panel of sustainability and fashion retail experts, the awards shine a spotlight on best practice within the global fashion industry.

“During the pandemic, I was vocal about the issue of buyer-supplier relationships and, in speaking out, I wanted to champion the cause of suppliers all over the world. Too often suppliers in garment supply chains do not have a voice because they fear that by speaking out, they will be treated unfavourably by brands.

“This was, of course, a risk on my own part but I like to think I stood up for what I think is right and ultimately, I believe progressive brands understood I was coming from a good place. Like them, all I want to see is a fair, ethical and sustainable industry where brands and retailers work in an environment of collaboration, not conflict.”

Mostafiz also had some special praise for H&M. He said: “It would have not been possible for me to support my workers during the pandemic, had my factory not received help from H&M during the unprecedented time. While Denim Expert suffered from huge orders cancellation and orders hold, H&M supported us by placing orders in the pandemic that saved thousands of lives and livelihoods. Therefore, I would like to dedicate this Award to H&M and its CEO Helena Helmersson.”

With the pollen season starting, new independent test results by the German external laboratory BMA-Labor have shown Purissimo’s™ effectiveness against pollen, making it an all-in-one solution for reducing allergens.

Devan’s allergen control technology, known as Purissimo™, has been found effective against allergens from pollen. The technology had already been proven to significantly reduce the amount of allergens from house dust mites and pets (cats & dogs).

“As time goes by, the various allergens start to build up inside the house, certainly when ventilation is limited”, Depluverez continues. “As the allergen concentration increases (especially in combination with seasonal allergens such as pollen), the allergy threshold may be reached if no allergen reduction measures are in place.”

Purissimo™
Purissimo™ is a natural allergen control technology that significantly reduces allergens from pet dander, dust mites and pollen in textiles throughout the home. The technology is based on encapsulated probiotics, which are naturally occurring microorganisms similar in kind to those you can find in probiotic yogurt, tempeh, kombucha.

Inactive probiotics (spores) are encapsulated and integrated onto the textiles. Friction opens the microcapsules and releases the spores. The spores absorb humidity and self-activate. They are transformed into probiotic bacteria that start to consume the allergens.

“As the probiotics consume the allergens, exposure is gradually reduced to below threshold levels”, Depluverez adds. “Therefore, individuals with respiratory allergies will be exposed to fewer ‘attacks’ and perceive a better well-being.”

He reports to the CEO of the CHT Group, Dr. Frank Naumann, Chairman of the Board. Benoit is a French citizen, 45 years old, and has been working at CHT since 2014. He is experienced in various leadership positions within the global market of textile chemicals.

Die Geschichte der heutigen Weitblick GmbH & Co. KG beginnt im September 1931 mit einem kleinen Ladengeschäft in Frankfurt am Main, in dem Gottfried Schmidt Berufskleidung verkauft. Sein Pioniergeist, sein Mut und seine Zuversicht sind es, die in sehr schwierigen Zeiten den Grundstein für das Unternehmen gelegt haben. 2021 blickt Weitblick nun voller Stolz auf bereits 90 Jahre Unternehmenstradition und die daraus entwickelte Erfolgsgeschichte zurück.

Zwischen Tradition und Moderne

Stets blieb das Geschäft in Familienhand. Wolfgang Schmidt, Sohn des Gründers, wagte neben dem Einzelhandel seines Vaters den Schritt ins Objektgeschäft und begann bereits in den 50er Jahren mit dem Aufbau einer eigenen Produktion. Die Vollbeschäftigung rund um Frankfurt zwang die Unternehmer 1961 dazu, tief im Spessart eigene Betriebe zu gründen, um ausreichend Arbeitskräfte zu finden. Dank Flexibilität und Mut zu Innovation konnten erste eigene Kollektionen entwickelt werden. Und weil es damals wie heute beim Thema Qualität niemals Kompromisse gab, ließ der Erfolg nicht lange auf sich warten. Davon zeugen noch heute Kundenbeziehungen, die über Jahrzehnte hinweg Bestand haben.

„Es war immer klar, dass mein Bruder und ich das aufgebaute Unternehmen weiterführen und mit unserer eigenen Handschrift weiter entwickeln möchten. Sowohl unser Vater als auch unser Großvater haben ihre Arbeit mit jeder Faser geliebt und stets mit großer Leidenschaft und Vision ausgeübt. Das war wegweisend und motivierend.“, erläutert Claus Schmidt, Enkel des Unternehmensgründers und heutiger Geschäftsführer bei Weitblick. 1983 übernimmt er als dritte Generation erstmals Verantwortung im Unternehmen und prägt mit einem harmonischen Augenmaß zwischen traditionellen Werten und den fortschreitenden Veränderungen der globalen Wirtschaftswelt die Unternehmensführung bis heute. Unter seiner Ägide werden anspruchsvolle Marken-Kollektionen entwickelt, die für die Industriewäsche geeignet sind und eine modische Handschrift tragen. Innovative Entwicklungen, wie die erste normkonforme HACCP-Kollektion für die lebensmittelverarbeitende Industrie, festigten Weitblick langsam, aber sicher seine Vorreiter-Funktion im Bereich industriewäschegeeigneter Workwear. Der Ausbau der Produktion in Europa wurde von Alexander Schmidt entwickelt und stets unter fairen und partnerschaftlichen Bedingungen zum Wohle aller Beteiligten geführt. Die wegweisende, erste nachhaltige Öko-Kollektion „ÖkoMax“ im Jahr 1993 musste leider wieder eingestellt werden, weil zwar die Produktion – nicht aber hingegen der Kunde – bereit für voll kompostierbare, nachhaltige Berufsbekleidung war.

Zukunft kreieren

1991 wurde der weitläufige Hauptsitz am neuen Standort Kleinostheim gebaut. Viel hat sich seither bei Weitblick, damals noch als Gottfried Schmidt OHG firmierend, bewegt. Mit der erfolgreichen Einführung des zentralen Markenauftritts unter Weitblick im Jahr 2016 begann die strategische Neuausrichtung des Unternehmens. Durch organisches, wohlüberlegtes Wachstum sind es heute mehr als 140 MitarbeiterInnen an den Standorten leinostheim und Alzenau sowie über 1.200 Beschäftigte in europäischen Produktionsbetrieben, die sich täglich für Weitblick-Kunden einsetzen. 2017 wurde das hochmoderne Logistikzentrum in Alzenau in Betrieb genommen, 2019 folgte der Bau der innovativen Bürolandschaft am Hauptsitz. Neben Claus Schmidt sind heute seine beiden Kinder Isabelle und Felix Schmidt als Gesellschafter mit eigenen verantwortlichen Bereichen im Unternehmen aktiv. Aber ein Unternehmen ist nichts ohne ein starkes und motiviertes Team. Als Geschäftsführer an der Spitze bildet Felix Blumenauer mit den Prokuristen Uwe Baier, Michael Dyroff und Philipp Hartmann eine starke Führungsmannschaft, die gemeinsam mit allen WeitblickerInnen die Familientradition fortführt und die Unternehmensvision “Begeisterung gemeinsam kreieren“ trägt und prägt.

Zusammen alles schaffen

Wenngleich die im Jubiläumsjahr geplanten Veranstaltungen und Feierlichkeiten Corona-bedingt abgesagt werden mussten: Es gibt zahlreiche Ideen, um diese lange Unternehmenstradition a sreichend zu würdigen. Dabei wurde – und das ist typisch für Weitblick – vor allem an die Kunden gedacht: Zahlreiche neue Kollektionen werden im Jubiläumsjahr gelauncht, darunter auch ein großes Sortiment aus Fairtrade Baumwolle und recyceltem Polyester. Neben der eigenen Co2-Neutralität arbeitet Weitblick mit seinem größten Gewebelieferanten derzeit an Konzepten zum Vollrecycling. Ein bahnbrechender Online- und Veredelungskonfigurator wird gerade in eigener Regie entwickelt. Die intuitive Bedienbarkeit und innovativste Features werden die Customer-Experience auf ein neues Level heben.

Weitblick hat große Ziele, vor allem bei der Umsetzung des Nachhaltigkeitskonzeptes. „Bei allem Stolz auf unsere Herkunft und lange Tradition: unseren Blick richten wir immer Richtung Zukunft, wollen auf allen Ebenen, gemäß unserer Unternehmensvision, gemeinsam Begeisterung kreieren. Ich möchte unsere Verantwortung für nachhaltiges Unternehmertum und soziales wie umweltfreundliches Agieren weiter forcieren und den Weg, den wir bereits eingeschlagen haben, Schritt für Schritt weitergehen.“, erklärt Isabelle Schmidt ihre Vision für Weitblick. Das Unternehmen wird 2021 das Nachhaltigkeitszertifikat des Grünen Knopfes einführen. 

Große Herausforderungen gilt es derzeit vor allem aufgrund von Corona zu meistern Gut, dass Weitblick hier mit einer hochmodernen Organisation optimal gerüstet ist und reibungslos arbeiten kann. Es ist nicht die erste Krise, die das Unternehmen mit Erfolg durchlebt hat. „90 Jahre sind für mich als vierte Familiengeneration gefühlt sehr weit weg. Was ich aber von meinem Urgroßvater mitnehme, sind die Leitgedanken Mut, Kraft und Zuversicht. Sie haben nichts von ihrer Strahlkraft verloren und bestärken mich in der Idee, dass wir gemeinsam alles schaffen können.“, ergänzt Isabelle Schmidt.

Zu Beginn des Jubiläumsjahres wurde das Unternehmen offiziell von der bisherigen „Gottfried Schmidt OHG“ auf die „Weitblick GmbH & Co. KG“ umfirmiert. Der Firmenname Gottfried Schmidt ist damit Geschichte. Aber eben eine Geschichte, die bleibt. Und von einer neuen Familiengeneration und dem Team weitergeschrieben wird.

Der Aufsichtsrat der Dr. Zwissler Holding AG hat zum 01.02.2021 Herrn Günter Eizenhöfer als weiteres Vorstandsmitglied bestellt.

Herr Eizenhöfer wird die Vorsitzende des Vorstands, Frau Dr. Ulrike Neu-bauer, als Vorstandsmitglied bei der strategischen Weiterentwicklung des Vorstands unterstützen. Er übernimmt Verantwortung für das Ressort Vertrieb, Entwicklung und Operations.

Herr Eizenhöfer bringt einen breiten Erfahrungsschatz aus Managementpositionen in diversen Industrien mit, u.a. auch von Unternehmen der Automobilzulieferindustrie. Er hat verschiedene Managementpositionen im In- und Ausland wahrgenommen und sich zuletzt als geschäftsführender Gesellschafter einer Unternehmensberatung mit strategischen Themen im Fokus der Automobilindustrie befasst. Dank dieser beruflichen Stationen und diversen Aufsichtsratsmandaten verfügt er über ein solides Wissen aus den Bereichen Prozessoptimierung sowie Neu- bzw. Umstrukturierung.

The Chair of Assembly Technology for Textile Products of ITM has manifested its leading global position in the virtual product development sector by successfully completing a variety of national and international interdisciplinary research projects.

Researchers of the Chair of Assembly Technology for Textile Products have been actively involved in the preparation and digital representation of material samples for the ISPO Textrends Forum. Thus, the material parameters of the ISPO Textrends Award textiles were determined for 3D fit simulations in Vidya (Assyst/Vizoo), automatically analyzed, and digitally processed by the specially developed "Material Analyzer" software. This software in addition to other state-of-the-art CAE infrastructure, such as the recently installed 4D Scanner Move4D, are essential for the further establishment and promotion of its leading position in the field of digitalization and virtual product development for garments for high-tech applications.

The researchers involved eagerly await future collaborations in this promising field of research. This pilot project presented at ISPO 2021 was coordinated by the company FOURSOURCE Group GmbH, thus enabling the characterization and 3D visualization of the award-winning materials that are presented to all visitors at ISPO 2021.

PCMC names Andy Piotter as Business Development Manager, Packaging Systems

Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) is pleased to announce that Andy Piotter has accepted the position of Business Development Manager, Packaging Systems.

In this role, Piotter will develop the company’s new packaging systems division, which will specialize in creating dynamic, comprehensive and efficient tissue packaging systems for customers around the world.

Piotter brings more than 35 years of experience in developing complete packaging systems for a variety of industries. He joins PCMC after being extensively involved in engineering, sales, and business management and development.

Maschenindustrie fordert Exit-Plan

Nach Wochen des harten Lockdowns ohne Aussicht auf Verbesserung der Lage ist der Geschäftsklimaindex der deutschen Maschenbranche zum 1. Quartal auf einem neuen Tiefpunkt. Martina Bandte, Präsidentin von Gesamtmasche, fordert die Politik auf, klare Perspektiven aufzuzeigen und jegliche Maßnahmen zu unterlassen, die neues Wachstum beeinträchtigen würden. „Industrie und Handel müssen jetzt durch ein umsichtiges Konzept der Wiederöffnung ermutigt werden. Gedankenspiele zu Steuererhöhungen sind das völlig falsche Signal.“

Die Maßnahmen zur Bekämpfung der Corona-Pandemie hätten 2020 zu beispiellosen Umsatzeinbrüchen in der Textil- und Modeindustrie geführt. Nach schwachen Erholungszeichen im Herbst habe der Winterlockdown die Branche in größte Bedrängnis gebracht. Der Geschäftsklimaindex der Maschenindustrie fiel auf ein neues Tief von -5,17 Punkten (Oktober 2020: 7,9 Punkte). Die Zukunft sehen die Hersteller der Branche noch um einiges düsterer: der Erwartungsindex für das nächste Quartal stürzte auf einen Negativwert von -14,29. Ein Drittel der Hersteller gab an, aktuell unrentabel zu arbeiten. Für das kommende Quartal befürchten dies 47 Prozent der Firmen. Nur 7 Prozent erwarten eine Verbesserung ihrer Lage. Fast ein Fünftel der Firmen will aufgrund weiter sinkender Kapazitätsauslastung die Personalstärke reduzieren.

„Zahlreiche Händler öffnen ihre Türen nie wieder. Jeder weitere Tag im Lockdown vernichtet weitere Existenzen und bedeutet für viele Menschen Arbeitslosigkeit. Es ist höchste Zeit für den Abschied vom Gießkannenprinzip des allgemeinen Herunterfahrens – und für den Abschied von der Staatswirtschaft, die inzwischen Einzug gehalten hat“, fordert Martina Bandte. „Wachstum erreicht man nur durch wirtschaftliche Aktivität. Der Bund rechnet für die Jahre 2020 und 2021 mit Zusatzausgaben von 1,5 Billionen Euro. Der Fiskus würde sich das verteilte Geld gerne durch Steuererhöhungen zurückzuholen. Nach zahlreichen Insolvenzen, die wir erwarten müssen, und einem sprunghaften Anstieg der Arbeitslosigkeit wäre das der komplett falsche Weg, wenn wir hinwollen zu neuem Wirtschaftswachstum, zurück in die Ertragszone."

By the time the DushaGreya brand begun, Natalia and her like-minded associate and father, Alexander Kordovatov, already had experience in the field of sublimation printing and knew that printing on fabric for subsequent tailoring would be carried out using this technology. However, no third-party performers could be found that would meet the quality and deadline requirements of the brand, so they decided to purchase new equipment and start printing at their own site. 

Alexander says. “We also found out that Smart-T (Mimaki's distributor in Russia), the supplier of this equipment in Moscow, is highly rated by the industry community and customers due to its professional expertise, first-line service support, and highly qualified engineers.” At the end of 2019, Smart-T installed the highly anticipated Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct textile printer at the DushaGreya facility. Today it prints fabrics for dresses, skirts, T-shirts, fleeces, jumpers, hoodies, trench coats, and other midwear.

"Mimaki Tx300P-1800 is the only printer in the Mimaki line that allows us to print on natural fabrics without pre-processing,” Alexander comments. “This gives us the ability to produce short, original print runs at no extra cost, which is vital in achieving our goals. The TP400 pigment inks used in this printer have an expanded colour gamut, so the prints are always bright and saturated.”

Die STF Schweizerische Textilfachschule bietet ab Herbstsemester 2021 den in der Schweiz neuartigen Studiengang «Fashion Influencer/in STF» an. In zwei Semestern berufsbegleitend werden die wichtigsten Kompetenzen vermittelt, wie man erfolgreich, gewinnbringend und professionell das eigene «ICH-Label» oder eine geführte Modemarke auf den diversen (sozialen) Medien vermarktet. Studiengangleitende des innovativen Studienganges ist Journalistin, Moderatorin und erfahrene Creative Content Creator bei izzy projects, Silvia Princigalli.

Die Mode- und Lifestylebranche hat sich durch die digitalen Medien rasant verändert. «Neue digitale Entwicklungen, Trends und Bedürfnisse der Lifestylebranche eröffnen Chancen für Innovatoren, Kreativköpfe und Unternehmen. Im Studiengang «Fashion Influencer/in STF» sollen Fashionbegeisterte deshalb zu kreativen Meinungsführern ausgebildet werden, die über das Wissen verfügen, Marken und bestimmte Produkte aus eigenem Antrieb über Werbung sowie Marketing zu verkaufen.

Denn ob für ein Gross- oder Kleinunternehmen oder den eigenen Ich-Brand ist es wichtig, das gesamte Konstrukt an Bedürfnisanalyse des Marktes, Ideenfindung, Umsetzungskonzeption, zugeschnittene Content Creation sowie Distribution zu verstehen.

«Im heutigen vernetzten Fashion- und Lifestyle-Universum hat jedes neukreierte Fashionpiece die Möglichkeit, das neue globale It-Piece zu werden», sagt Silvia Princigalli weiter. Inhaltlich liegen die Schwerpunkte des neuen Studienganges der STF unter anderem auf den Bereichen Self-Marketing (Personality Management & Personal Identity), der Vermittlung und Beeinflussung von Trends & Fashion, Content Creation & Inszenierungen, dem korrekten Anwenden verschiedenster Social Media Management Tools sowie der Monetarisierung/dem Verkauf von Ideen sowie Projekten. Ein starkes Augenmerk wird zudem auf die Aspekte Design, Medienkompetenz sowie den Aufbau eines tragenden Netzwerkes gerichtet.

Tobias Staehle neuer Regional President EMEA Consumer bei FHCS

Tobias Staehle übernimmt Endverbrauchergeschäft (EMEA) bei Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions (FHCS) und wird neuer Regional President EMEA Consumer. Er tritt zum 1. Februar 2021 die Nachfolge von Juan Dangla an, der nach 33 Jahren bei FHCS in den Ruhestand gehen wird. In seiner neuen Funktion verantwortet Staehle das Endverbrauchergeschäft des Weinheimer Unternehmens, zu dem Haushaltsmarken wie Vileda, Gimi, Wettex und Marigold gehören. Staehle berichtet an Karin Overbeck (CEO).

„Mit Tobias Staehle haben wir einen sehr erfahrenen Manager gewinnen können. Er wird einen wichtigen Beitrag dazu leisten, das Wachstum in unserer umsatzstärksten Region voranzubringen und nachhaltig zu sichern“, kommentiert Overbeck. Zuletzt verantwortete er als Managing Director bei Revlon das Geschäft in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz.

NCTO welcomes President Biden’s action plan and Covid-19 Response

National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) President and CEO Kim Glas issued a statement today welcoming President Biden’s action plan and COVID-19 response, accompanied by a series of executive orders, including an order signed today to strengthen U.S. supply chains by directing federal agencies to use the Defense Production Act (DPA) to address shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and related vaccine supplies.

“We are closely reviewing President Biden’s national strategic plan to confront the pandemic and welcome the executive order signed today to strengthen our supply chains by directing all federal agencies to use the Defense Production Act to address shortages of personal protective equipment, vaccine supplies and essential products. These are important steps that will help ramp up critical manufacturing of these essential PPE products and other critically needed supplies like tests and vaccines.”

American manufacturers have been at the forefront of the effort to build a domestic PPE supply chain since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. textile industry retooled production and operations virtually overnight, producing millions of face masks, isolation gowns, testing swabs and other critical medical textiles.

The industry is dedicated to making significant investments in automated equipment for PPE, but the industry needs long-term, multiyear contracts to help realize that investment.

The deployment of DPA is one of the critical tools that will help incentivize investment in equipment, propel the hiring of U.S. workers and expand these critical production chains.

Since its inception, the DPA has been utilized by the Department of Defense to make critical investments in domestic textile manufacturing infrastructure and capacity, creating private-public partnerships through the government’s capital investments under the DPA and guaranteeing purchases through long-term contracts.  

NCTO applaud President Biden’s action and anticipate further steps including a reported order that will seek to strengthen government procurement of U.S. products in the coming days. NCTO appreciate President Biden outlining the “National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness” a series of actions and steps the administration will undertake to deploy and manufacture the vaccine and other essential products.

Autoneum: Revenue development and personnel changes

Reflecting the pandemic-related drop in worldwide vehicle production, Autoneum’s revenue in local currencies fell by –18.7% in 2020, although the second half of the year saw a significant market recovery. Group revenue in Swiss francs fell by –24.2% year-on-year to CHF 1 740.6 million. For the full year 2020, the EBIT margin will be around 1.5% and the free cash flow slightly over CHF 100 million.
At the Annual General Meeting on March 25, 2021, the Board of Directors will propose Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli for election to the Board of Directors of Autoneum Holding. Peter Spuhler will not stand for re-election.

At 74.5 million, the number of light vehicles produced globally in 2020 was down –16.2% compared to the previous year, where around 89 million vehicles were manufactured. Autoneum’s revenue in local currencies decreased by –18.7% in 2020, pretty much in line with the negative market dynamics. The somewhat stronger decline of revenue compared to the market results from a lower share of Asia in Autoneum's total revenue. Impacted by the appreciation of the Swiss franc against the most important currencies for Autoneum, the consolidated revenue dropped in 2020 by –24.2% to CHF 1 740.6 million. The heterogeneous development of the first and second half of the year was characteristic for the pandemic-driven automotive year 2020. Worldwide lockdowns and production stoppages at vehicle manufacturers led to a market slump in the first six months and a corresponding loss in revenue for Autoneum. Thanks to the subsequent market recovery and catch-up effects in the second half of the year, revenue improved considerably compared to the first half of the year.

Revenue development in Asia and SAMEA region significantly better than market
While revenues in local currencies of the highest-volume Business Groups Europe and North America decreased by –25.6% and –19.3% respectively, reflecting the regional, pandemic-driven market development (Europe: –22.9%; North America: –20.1%), Business Group Asia almost held its prior-year level with an organic decline of only –2.1% in 2020 thanks to the strong upturn in automobile production in China in the second half of the year and despite the fact that the number of vehicles produced in Asia fell by –11.4%.*

Personnel changes to the Board of Directors
At the Annual General Meeting on March 25, 2021, the Board of Directors of Autoneum Holding will propose Liane Hirner and Oliver Streuli for election as new members of the Board of Directors.
Liane Hirner has been CFO and member of the Management Board of Vienna Insurance Group, based in Vienna, Austria, since 2018.*

Oliver Streuli, a Swiss national, has been CEO of PCS Holding, based in Frauenfeld (Canton Thurgau), Switzerland, since 2019.*

Peter Spuhler has been a member of the Board of Directors of Autoneum since 2011 and will not stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting on March 25, 2021.*
