INNATEX 49 postponed for a month due to coronavirus situation

  • International trade fair for Green Fashion to take place in February

The Winter edition of INNATEX will not take place as planned in January, but is being postponed by one month. In changing their plans, the organisers MUVEO GmbH have reacted rapidly to the latest forecasts from the virus experts and to the changing situation regarding the spread of the Omicron variant in January, which remains unpredictable. They intend to offer a new date in mid- or late February; they are currently consulting the exhibitors and expect to reach a conclusion in the next few days.

“We are in regular discussions with our exhibitors and partners, and we know that the Green Fashion community needs a platform for winter ordering,” said Alexander Hitzel, INNATEX Project Manager. “In view of the fact that other live events have been cancelled this season, we see it as our duty more than ever to facilitate a gathering where products can be presented, orders can be taken and people can network – even if conditions are more difficult again.”

It had not yet been decided, he said, what adjustments the organisers would ultimately be making to the original concept with its various programme elements, to ensure compliance with the guidelines in force during the event. “We are in constant contact with the authorities but we will have to await developments before we can move on to the configuration of the event,” Hitzel continued.

MUVEO GmbH is one of a very small number of fair organisers that has managed to put on a safe six-monthly ordering platform throughout the entire pandemic, with a comprehensive hygiene policy and practice. Hitzel stresses that the same will be achievable this time.

Cellulose fibres are a true material miracle as they offer a steadily expanding, broad range of applications. Meanwhile markets are driven by technological developments and policy frameworks, especially bans and restrictions on plastics, as well as an increasing number of sustainability requirements. The  presentations will provide valuable information on the various use-opportunities for cellulosic fibres through a policy overview, a special session on sustainability, recycling and alternative feedstocks, as well as the latest developments in pulp, cellulosic fibres and yarns. In addition, examples of non-wovens,  packaging and composites will offer a look beyond the horizon of conventional application fields.

Self-initiated cooperation and waste management pave the way to a fully closed European material loop where textile waste is collected, recycled and reprocessed into new raw materials.

The team of the Munich Fabric Start Exhibitions GmbH has dedicated the last weeks to the finalisation of the upcoming BLUEZONE and MUNICH FABRIC START: the new measures for safe events have been implemented; the organisers are ready to welcome the industry In Munich in just a few weeks.

And the current status is impressive: more than 600 suppliers from 33 countries are registered for
MUNICH FABRIC START from which some 90 international denim mills are ready to show at BLUEZONE. In such extraordinary times, the enormous support from the industry is a milestone and anything but a matter of course.

At the same time, the ongoing dynamic situation, the ever-increasing demands on events and the enormous
planning uncertainty make the next necessary steps more difficult. With the rapidly increasing infection
rates of the Omicron variant across Europe and especially in some neighbouring countries that are
already in a new lockdown, the organisers do face very complex challenges in many respects.

After the extensive consideration of the overall situation with an extremely serious situation
in many places, the organisers feel obliged to cancel MUNICH FABRIC START Spring.Summer 23
from 25 - 27 January 2022.

With regards to BLUEZONE and KEYHOUSE, an alternative scenario will be realised:
both formats will skip the January show and move forward to 3 – 4 May 2022 as a dedicated
denim and innovation show on the Zenith grounds in Munich.

The decisive factors for this major decision are various realistic scenarios which need to be considered to occur within the coming weeks: a new lockdown in Germany with a possible event ban imposed at very short notice, further restrictions on events and additional travel restrictions.

Showcases, Vernissagen, Installationen und Ausstellungen können nach aktuellem Stand auf der Basis passgenauer 2G und 2G+ Konzepte weiterhin durchgeführt werden.

In Anbetracht der durch den Expertenrat der Bundesregierung prognostizierten Zuspitzung der Pandemielage, die die Omikron-Variante für Deutschland mit sich bringen könnte, ist es für die Messe Frankfurt als Veranstalterin der Messeformate Neonyt und Val:ue sowie für die Premium Group als Veranstalterin der Messen Premium und Seek, des Fashion-Festivals The Ground sowie der Fashiontech-Konferenz aktuell nicht möglich, die Planungen zur erstmaligen Durchführung der großen Mode-Fachbesucher*innenmessen in Frankfurt weiter voranzutreiben. Auf die Entwicklungen des aktuellen Pandemiegeschehens reagierte ein Großteil der auf den Messen ausstellenden und besuchenden Unternehmen bereits jetzt mit Reise- und Messebesuchsverboten aus Gründen der Fürsorgepflicht gegenüber ihren Mitarbeitenden sowie zum Schutz vor gesundheitlichen Risiken.

Trotzdem arbeiten die Organisator*innen der Frankfurt Fashion Week daran, ein ausgewähltes Programm mit persönlichen Begegnungsformaten im coronakonformen Rahmen vor Ort in Frankfurt zu ermöglichen, um der Branche die Gelegenheit zum Austausch wertvoller Impulse zu geben. „Wir spüren das ausgeprägte Bedürfnis der Branche nach persönlichen Begegnungen. Due to the pandemic developments and the decision taken by the Federal Government & the Federal States at yesterday's Conference of Minister Presidents, major events and thus also the fashion fairs and events of PREMIUM, SEEK, FASHIONTECH conference, as well as the preview of the new fashion festival THE GROUND will not be able to take place as planned in Frankfurt am Main in January 2022.

Besides the lack of a regulatory basis, the effects of the ongoing pandemic and the spread of the coronavirus, as well as the worrying developments regarding the new virus variant, Omicron, have further overruled the safe implementation of the events in January. Lockdowns in neighbouring European countries, some of which have already come into force, in addition to travel restrictions, quarantine regulations and the volatile situation as a whole make it impossible to hold the trade fairs and peripheral events in a safe environment.

FFW: Drei Tage Konferenzen für einen nachhaltigen Wandel

Die Frankfurt Fashion Week geht im Januar mit Konferenzformaten, Panels, Diskussionsforen und dem digitalen FFW Studio an den Start. Im Fokus: der Wandel in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung der Branche. Vom 17. bis 21. Januar 2022 zeigt die FFW, wie dieser Wandel gelingen kann. Einen umfangreichen Einblick in den State of the Art der Industrie geben die dreitägigen Leit-Konferenzen Fashionsustain und Fashiontech sowie das Programm des digitalen FFW Studios.

Die Frankfurt Fashion Week geht im Januar mit Konferenzformaten, Panels, Diskussionsforen und dem digitalen FFW Studio an den Start. Die beiden Konferenzformate Fashionsustain, veranstaltet von der Messe Frankfurt, und Fashiontech, organisiert von der Premium Group, zeigen drei Tage lang, wie die Branche den notwendigen Wandel in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit und technologischer Innovation bestreiten kann. Vom 18. bis 20. Januar 2022 treffen Branchenexpert*innen, Modeenthusiast*innen, Brands sowie Vertreter und Vertreterinnen aus Wissenschaft und Politik für die beiden Konferenzen auf dem Gelände der Messe Frankfurt aufeinander, um sich gegenseitig zu inspirieren und auszutauschen.

Fashionsustain – Digitale Lösungen für einen nachhaltigen Transformationsprozess
Change the set-up – unter diesem Motto vereint die Fashionsustain, das internationale und multidisziplinäre Konferenzformat der Neonyt, die Mode- und Lifestylebranche vom 18. bis 20. Januar 2022 in Halle 3.0 des Frankfurter Messegeländes. Technologische Innovationen, neue Geschäftsmodelle, Ansätze für den Modehandel, Konsumverhalten, Gaming und Nudging for Good stehen auf der Agenda. Der erste Konferenztag nimmt die Konsument*innen in den Fokus. Neurowissenschaftlerin und Professorin für Medienpsychologie Prof. Dr. Maren Urner spricht unter anderem mit NGO-Vertreter*innen und Branchenexpert*innen darüber, wie die Lücke zwischen Einstellungen und Kaufverhalten geschlossen werden kann und welche Verantwortung dabei Brands und Vertreter*innen der Industrie tragen.

Tag zwei der Konferenz steht ganz im Namen der Digitalisierung. Unter dem Titel „Digitization. How to make use of it to create sustainable fashion“ tauscht sich eine diverse Runde darüber aus, wie digitale Tools dabei helfen, nachhaltige Mode zu kreieren. Mit dabei sind das dänische Kreativnetzwerk Creative Denmark, das Label Son of a tailor und die Circularity App Create2stay. Der letzte Tag der Fashionsustain thematisiert den Handel. Unter anderem vertiefen die Startups Yook und Keepoala in einem Interview, wie sie ihre Konsument*innen über Apps mit positiven Anreizen dazu motivieren, nachhaltiger zu shoppen.

Fashiontech – Die Content-Plattform für Mode, Technologie und Lifestyle
Am Puls der Zeit: Auf der Bühne der Fashiontech werden im Januar die Themen in den Fokus gerückt, die nicht nur die Modeindustrie, sondern die gesamte Gesellschaft bewegen. Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion, Digital Fashion & Metaverse – das sind die Themen der Konferenz, die vom 18. bis 20. Januar 2022 von der Premium Group in Halle 3.1 ausgerichtet wird. Edutainment at its best: Keynotes und Paneltalks führender Branchenepert*innen geben Einblicke in die Zukunft der Branche. Den Start der Konferenz macht am Dienstag um 12 Uhr die Textilwirtschaft Trend-Info Womens- & Menswear. Als Highlight gibt die Premium Group eine Preview auf das neue Fashion Festival THE GROUND, das erstmalig im Sommer stattfinden wird.

FFW Studio – gebündelter Content, zugänglich für alle

Virtuelle Anproben, ressourcenschonenderer Handel, digitale Ausstellungen: Das Kölner Unternehmen 3MBASSY erschafft virtuelle Bekleidungskonstruktionen und erstellt 3DDesigns. In der Kategorie Game Changer des FFW Studios zeigt die Brand, wie die digitale Modewelt sich zukünftig entwickeln wird und welche Chancen daraus abzuleiten sind. Ebenfalls mit dabei ist die Digital Fashion Brand Republique. Das Label kreiert virtuelle Mode, die Kund*innen über ihren eigenen Avatar anprobieren und perfekt auf sich zuschneiden lassen können. Erst nach der Bestellung beginnt die Produktion – ressourcenschonend und fair. Im FFW Studio gibt die Brand aus England Insights in die Prozesse hinter der digitalen Revolution. On November 8, 2021, the US lifted the 18-month ban on visitors from the European Union, China, Iran, Brazil and India, as long as they can show proof of vaccination and a negative coronavirus test. No quarantine will be required, regardless of how visitors enter.

International filtration and separation professionals can feel even more confident making plans to exhibit at FiltXPO™ 2022 this upcoming March.

Sie gilt als Synonym für den grundlegenden Transformationsprozess der Textil- und Modeindustrie. Daher werden die teilnehmenden Marken vier Schlüsselthemen aufzeigen: Während „Luft“ die CO2e-Emissionen widerspiegelt, konzentriert sich das zweite Thema auf Wasser und das dritte auf das Thema "Zirkularität", einschließlich Re- und Upcycling sowie Cradle2Cradle. After three-days of product sourcing and business networking, Techtextil India 2021 in Mumbai concluded in a strong and positive note. The trade fair emerged as a crucial meeting place for the technical textile players to rebuild their supplier links, promote industry integration and engage in lucrative knowledge exchange.

The eighth edition of Techtextil India stood out to be a ground-breaking business platform for the technical textile sector to build a new and strong foundation in the new normal. The aim of the new edition was to promote industry unification and business recovery across the value chain of technical textiles.

The significance of the three-day fair was further elevated by the German pavilion. Technical textile manufacturers from Germany, such as Autefa Solution Germany GmbH, DILO Systems GmbH, Emtec Electronic GmbH, Georg Sahm GmbH & Co, Karl Mayer Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH, Merz Maschinenfabrik GmbH and Oerlikon Barmag Zweigniederlassung der Oerlikon Textile GmbH & Co, displayed their latest technologies on the show floor, which garnered significant attention from the Indian buyers.

The first Digital Symposium was another highlight of Techtextil India 2021. The forum delved into a series of crucial topics in technical textiles discussing PLI schemes, FDI opportunities and policies, investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu, & New Investment Opportunities, Sustainable Technical Textiles and Global sustainable approach for Textiles with Antimicrobial Performance.

Concluding on a successful note, Techtextil India 2021 emerged as a platform of new beginnings for the technical textiles sector and for businesses trying to retain their shape and seeking momentum after the tough pandemic phase.

imm cologne: Restart postponed to 2023

imm cologne will not take place on the planned dates in January 2022 in Cologne. The executive board of Koelnmesse reached this decision in close consultation with the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) and in agreement with other well-known industry representatives at the international level. "This step is restricted exclusively to imm cologne and its specific requirements for trade fair operations. We are principally planning, as before, to carry out our spring events in 2022. The political guidelines allow for this, and, following the excellent and safe course of the past autumn trade fairs, this must remain our mission in the interests of the participating industries“, says COO Oliver Frese.

The VDM, as the industry sponsor of the event, and against the background of the current pandemic situation, sees the economic success of the event and thus the successful restart of imm cologne in January as extremely endangered. "Following consultation with numerous exhibitors, industry representatives and trading partners, there is either no question of participation on the part of German exhibitors or exhibitors from the German-speaking region, or this is very much in doubt", according to Jan Kurth, CEO of the VDM.  Similar feedback also came from many European countries.

"The current special basic conditions in the interior design industry make the practicability of imm cologne almost impossible", according to Oliver Frese. "We didn't make this very bitter decision easy for ourselves, but consider it to be our obligation to take this step now in close consultation with the industry. In this way we provide clarity and planning security in the interests of our exhibitors. In our shared perspective, an imm cologne with its claim as a leading trade fair for the interior design industry is not realisable in the current situation", the COO continues. "We are currently working actively on options for also still being able to offer exhibitors of imm cologne an attractive trade fair presence at the international level. Here, both spoga+gafa and ORGATEC present excellent alternatives in the interior design portfolio of Koelnmesse".

The cancellation is restricted to imm cologne and expressly does not include other B2B events planned for spring 2022 in Cologne. In autumn, the Cologne art fairs and the nutrition fair Anuga, among others, demonstrated that trade fairs are also once again possible at the international level and can be carried out safely for everyone. It is currently quite clear how differently individual industries are reacting to the present situation. "We have determined a heterogeneous estimation among the exhibiting companies in the face of the enduring pandemic situation in Germany", according to Oliver Frese, COO of Koelnmesse. The assessments vary in degree specific to different industries, "sometimes with a greater impact on the respective trade fair and sometimes hardly palpable", the COO continues. "In the interests of cooperation in a spirit of trust, we are of course communicating closely with our industries and customers, in order to be able to reach just these kinds of industry-specific decisions," according to Frese.

The hygiene and safety concept of Koelnmesse, which remains entirely in keeping with the decisions of the Minister-President Conference and the Corona Protection Ordinance of NRW, stands for safe processes.

A positive picture was still taking shape for imm cologne as a whole with the end of the term for cancellation without penalties in mid-October: with 600 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, the event would still have been the largest and most relevant forum for the interiors industry, hosted in Europe’s biggest furniture market, even in this smaller form in terms of numbers.

The professional exchange and the networking between internationally active companies and highly qualified trade visitors provide the basis at every imm cologne for future-oriented innovations and the development of new business models. In this way, imm cologne ensures important business impulses for the industry. Koelnmesse, together with the VDM and the exhibiting industry, will therefore do everything possible to get a powerful and innovative imm cologne 2023 on its feet.

The Campus & School Zone was introduced to fulfil the rising market demand for domestic student bedding: “The current demand in China for student bedding is high. There are around 8 million new university students and 16 million secondary school students each year, and nearly all university students and 70% of secondary school students need bedding, equating to over 19.2 million sets needed each year,” Mr Shi Xiangyu, Department Manager at Yantai Pacific Home Fashion Co Ltd, a 2021 exhibitor, outlined.  

Helping businesses to reach their target buyers
Ms Weiqing Peng, Trade Department Supervisor of Wujiang City Yunjie Textiles Co Ltd commented on how the 2021 fair has helped them during the challenging times caused by the pandemic: “We treasure this opportunity to communicate with customers face to face. Buyers usually need to touch the fabrics in person. Many domestic companies are enthusiastic about exhibiting here, and we’ve been really busy as many new and old customers came to our booth. This fair is very popular with the whole industry supply chain.” Mr Leo Chen from Yantai Pacific Home Fashion Co Ltd also applauded the fair for helping them to “reach some big brands in China and explore more cooperation opportunities.”

Premium Group sets a strong example for the fashion industry

The Premium Group events will take place in Frankfurt am Main in the third week of January 2022, taking into account the 2G+ regulation (all participants have to be vaccinated, recovered and additionally daily tested).
 
On the basis of the current regulations of the federal government and the Hessian state government, which did not announce any further restrictions for vaccinated people last week, the fashion fairs PREMIUM and SEEK, the FASHIONTECH talks and the showcase of the new format THE GROUND will comply with the official health and hygiene regulations from 18th to January 20, 2022 in Frankfurt am Main.

The Premium Group events will take place in Frankfurt am Main in the third week of January 2022, taking into account the 2G+ regulation (all participants have to be vaccinated, recovered and additionally daily tested).
 
On the basis of the current regulations of the federal government and the Hessian state government, which did not announce any further restrictions for vaccinated people last week, the fashion fairs PREMIUM and SEEK, the FASHIONTECH talks and the showcase of the new format THE GROUND will comply with the official health and hygiene regulations from 18th to January 20, 2022 in Frankfurt am Main.

Four formats - one large exhibition hall
The conceptual novelty is that the PREMIUM, SEEK, THE GROUND and FASHIONTECH events will - for the first time and once - take place all together in a spacious hall, which roughly corresponds to the entire area of Station Berlin, on a total area of approx. 20,000 square meters. The resulting simplified admission management serves the safety of everyone. In this way, visitors can quickly and comfortably experience all the inspiration and concentrated brand power at once.

In addition to the security aspect, the merger of the two flagship events PREMIUM and SEEK in one large exhibition hall will bring new features, above all, in terms of content and atmosphere. Apart from an unprecedentedly strong brand portfolio, completely new synergies and energies will arise, which will make the meeting in January a unique momentum in the history of the industry.

Numerous brands have already signed-up and despite some decisions for smaller pop-up presentations, instead of large stands, the willingness to start again together and to want to send positive signals prevails! In addition to established players, many new brands also want to show their collections now.

THE GROUND - new generation, new platform
THE GROUND will give an outlook on what can be expected in summer with an exclusive press and influencer event. The Fashion Festival ‘for a young and purpose driven generation’ is an innovative platform for brands to get in direct contact with Gen Z with interactive installations, campaigns and storytelling.

At the preview event in January, 15 curated brands and key partners will present their value-based projects and products. In keynotes and panel talks, THE GROUND is dedicated to the topics most relevant to GEN Z: diversity, inclusion & sustainability.

FASHIONTECH - innovation, inspiration, content
FASHIONTECH is the content platform for fashion, technology and lifestyle. This is where decision-makers, industry insiders, communication experts and innovative minds meet to exchange experiences, discuss potential and developments, generate new leads and promote exchange between the various industries.

In addition to the core events, the Premium Group will also organize its popular evening events - due to the conditions, of course, to a slightly different extent than usual.

Heimtextil from 11 - 14 January 2022 is cancelled

Against the background of the worsening pandemic situation in Germany over the past two weeks and the associated restrictions, Heimtextil, scheduled to take place in the second week of January, is cancelled. Messe Frankfurt is working with the industry to determine whether and in what form a new offering in the summer of 2022 can be organised to run parallel to the Techtextil/Texprocess trade fair duo. Later events such as Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld, Paperworld and Frankfurt Fashion Week are still planning to take place at the present time.

Due to the unforeseeable dynamics in the development of the pandemic, the reciprocal and cumulative effects of the relevant factors, as well as the extreme escalation and deterioration of the pandemic situation in Germany within a very short period of time, including the decisions taken at the Conference of Minister Presidents on 02.12.2021, the date of Heimtextil right at the beginning of the year, in the second week of January, cannot be kept. Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles, will be cancelled. Messe Frankfurt is working closely with all industry partners to find out whether and within what framework Heimtextil can be held parallel to Techtextil and Texprocess from 21 to 24 June 2022.

Heimtextil as an international trade fair has always kicked off the spring trade fair season and is the first major international trade fair in Germany directly after Christmas and New Year with exhibitors and visitors from over 135 countries. The exponential increase in the number of infections in a very short period of time and the accompanying multitude of developments and resolutions that are clearly outside the realm of influence of the organizer have led to a significant deterioration in the general conditions and necessary requirements for holding Heimtextil as a major trade fair of international relevance at this early stage. These developments include in particular the classification of Germany as a high-risk area and the associated travel warnings, international and intercontinental travel restrictions in India, Japan, the United States and Great Britain, as well as the quarantine obligation and “2G” (only with vaccinated and recovered status) requirements without recognition of the WHO vaccine list in Germany. Equally important are the steadily rising infection figures and the accompanying urgent appeal, including by the Robert Koch Institute, to reduce contacts to a minimum and to cancel all major events.

A large number of the exhibiting and visiting companies at Heimtextil are currently reacting to this with travel and trade fair attendance bans out of an obligation of concern towards their employees to protect them from health risks. The global willingness to travel is continuing to fall rapidly.

The planning and staging of the other spring trade fairs Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld and Paperworld is not affected. Due to their later dates in the year, at the end of January and mid-February respectively, these fairs are still planning to take place at the present time. Compared to Heimtextil, which is the most international trade fair at the Frankfurt location, Frankfurt Fashion Week currently has a much lower international profile and from this perspective can therefore still take place. The extremely volatile situation is continuously reviewed and evaluated in close exchange with the relevant authorities and industry partners.

These include Sciessent’s Agion Active® X2, a next-generation odor-control solution that combines advanced technologies to both capture and fight odor-causing bacteria for garments that smell fresh for longer and need less frequent washing. The partners are also previewing a new solution: Sciessent’s NOBO™, a cost-effective odor adsorber that provides odor control on virtually any fabric.

Other featured innovations include Teflon Eco Dry with Zelan™ R2 Plus technology. A breakthrough in sustainable water repellency, it contains 30% renewably sourced plant-based raw materials and meets or exceeds performance levels possible with traditional fluorinated technologies. Another exciting Huntsman solution is the new PHOBOL® Extender UXN – a product that optimizes water-repellent finishes for long-lasting fabric protection. It is free from butanone oxime, which has recently been re-classified in Europe and restricted above certain limits in products by bluesign®.

Postproduktiv integrierte 3D/CGI-Artworks illustrieren als digitale Bildhintergründe die Leitthemen der FFW und inszenieren Frankfurt als neuen Modestandort. Die Stadt wird über abstrakte Elemente – hauptsächlich Oberflächen und Texturen der Stadt und die bekannte Skyline – visualisiert. Die plakativ inszenierten Charaktere der Kampagne repräsentieren eine abstrakte Interpretation dessen, was die Frankfurt Fashion Week sein wird: eine progressive Plattform, ein eigenes Universum, eine Neuerfindung der traditionellen Fashion Week. Die Kampagne verdeutlicht darüber hinaus die aktive Rolle der FFW als Enabler der internationalen Fashion- und Lifestyle-Community und formuliert ihren Anspruch, dieser als Katalysator zu dienen, um die gegenwärtige Reform und Neuerfindung der Branche zu beschleunigen.

Im Januar 2022 will die FFW Mut transportieren und dazu anregen, Aktivismus zu leben. Nur mit einer optimistischen Einstellung der kollektiven ‚Fashion-Crowd kann sich die Modewelt langfristig nachhaltig verändern. Authentisch fordert die vom Frankfurter Designstudio NoNot konzipierte und umgesetzte Kampagne ihre Betrachter*innen dazu auf, sich als Teil einer Community of Change zu sehen und inspiriert die Angesprochenen, den notwendigen Wandel der Branche aktiv mitzugestalten.
