Final Report of Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris

The summer edition of Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris welcomed nearly 1,200 exhibitors from 26 countries. This season event was characterised by a number of new features and the dynamics remained satisfactory. Next event: February 10, 2025, in a partially renovated Paris-Le-Bourget exhibition centre for a session rich in initiatives.

Over and above a possible "Olympic Games effect" and its consequences on transport and accommodation costs in the capital, the current economic situation is prompting the show's organizers to explore all alternatives to adapt the offer to market demand. However, these results do not seem to have had any impact on the flow of business between visitors and exhibitors, who reported a fairly positive overall climate.

The dynamic on the booths remained steady and the exchanges satisfactory, as shown by several manufacturers particularly well established on the European market. Indian shirt manufacturer Sheraton Apparel, for example, made around thirty solid contacts over 3 days, and reported several serious approaches to African distributors. The same goes for SMIT, a Turkish company specialising in Made in Turkey sourcing, which was able to see its main European customers and open up new contacts with Canadian and Brazilian buyers.

An expanded offering
At the Near Sourcing Hub, the phygital sourcing space connected by QR Code to the B2B digital platform of Messe Frankfurt France partner FourSource, inquiries to exhibiting companies remained much the same as in 2023. The visitor profile, on the other hand, focused on buyers from networks of small multi-specialist boutiques looking for an original mid-to-top-range offering. It was in response to this market demand for differentiation that the show organizers decided to extend Apparel Sourcing's range to include new categories in the fashion accessories sector, such as jewelry and bags.

High-profile initiatives
Other innovations were also on show this summer. The yarn pavilion - a first conceived in collaboration with Yarn Expo, originally a Shanghai show run by Messe Frankfurt - showcased the expertise of Chinese, Indian, Pakistani and Taiwanese companies, while at the same time highlighting upstream products and services. At Avantex, where some twenty suppliers of solutions for more sustainable fashion were grouped together, the new Designer Hub enabled designers and buyers to discover some original initiatives, such as that of stylist Jean-Luc François' association, supported by Messe Frankfurt's Texpertise network, which trains people who are far from employment, or the 3D design studio Scotomalab.

Materra wins 2024 Avantex Fashion Pitch award
The Avantex Fashion Pitch jury has awarded the 2024 prize to Materra. This British start-up, founded in 2019, designs solutions to support the cotton cultivation adapted to climate change. At the other end of the chain, it offers brands a service designed on a Cotton-As-A-Service model that encourages them to source from the producers it supports. Materra will benefit from a €2,800 stand at Avantex Paris 2025 donated by Messe Frankfurt France, plus €2,000 from Texpertise Network, the textile sector network of the Messe Frankfurt Group, and 1 year's incubation at Foundry donated by IFA Paris, official partner of the competition.

A trendy area at Leatherworld
New for 2024, the Leatherworld sector inaugurated its Leather Trend area, developed in collaboration with publisher Edizioni AF and the Arsutoria School design centre. Designed around the expertise of Italian companies specialising in the manufacture of leather shoes and bags, this inspirational space presented the autumn-winter 25-26 trends through 4 creative axis built around the expression of simplicity, nature, dynamism (sportswear collections) and finally romanticism. Leather Trend was also an opportunity to discover the new leather tanning technology developed by Ecotan, which avoids the use of metals (Chrome) and chemicals in the leather preparation stages thanks to the use of vegetable tannins.

STOLL was also represented with a stand at this year's Pitti Filati. The flat knitting machine specialist of the KARL MAYER GROUP introduced its new trend collection NOCTURNO and developments from STOLL ITALIA, which were created in collaboration with the yarn manufacturer IAFIL Industria Ambrosiana Filati S.p.A. The digital software products of the CREATE family were demonstrated on request.

In addition to its participation as an exhibitor, STOLL, together with three other companies, led the "Training Days" project at Pitti Filati designed for the professional development of the entire community of operators.

STOLL's trade fair presentation at this year's Pitti Filati was organised by its subsidiary STOLL ITALIA and was a complete success.

Düsseldorf Fashion Days Festival Edition am 27. Juli

Mode, Beauty, Lifestyle: Unter der Dachmarke Düsseldorf Fashion Days (DFD) richtet die Wirtschaftsförderung Düsseldorf am Samstag, 27. Juli, erneut eine Festival Edition aus. Das Format findet im Rahmen der Kollektions-Ordertage statt, zu denen die Modebranche die kommende Saisonware anbietet. Im Gegensatz zu den Modemessen und Präsentationen in über 600 Showrooms, bei denen Geschäftsbeziehungen im Vordergrund stehen, spricht die Festival Edition Endverbraucherinnen und -verbraucher an.

Zentraler Bestandteil des Events ist eine große Modenschau unter freiem Himmel auf der Königsallee. Auf dem Laufsteg werden in diesem Jahr Sheme Shoes, Mohnfeld Moden, UFINITY, Angelika Kauffmann, wunderwerk, ADLYSH und RIANI ihre Kollektionen präsentieren.

Erstmalig wird die IGEDO selbst an der Fashion Show teilnehmen: "Indem wir uns mit ausgewählten Looks bei der Modenschau einbringen, knüpfen wir an 75 Jahre Düsseldorfer Modegeschichte an: Die IGEDO Modenschau auf der Kö im Jahr 1949 markiert gewissermaßen den Aufbruch zur Modehauptstadt", sagt IGEDO-Geschäftsführerin und Fashion Net-Vorständin Ulrike Kähler.

Begleitet wird das Event von Live-DJ-Sets, Pop-Up Märkten, Ständen und gastronomischen Angeboten in den Bereichen Schadowstraße, Schadowplatz, Hofgarten und Lorettoviertel. Viele Geschäfte beteiligen sich mit Rabattaktionen und weiteren individuellen Angeboten.

Neben den etablierten Marken und Händlern werden auch aufstrebende lokale Anbieterinnen und Anbieter von Mode- und Lifestyleprodukten in die Planung einbezogen. Im Pre-Opening zur großen Kö-Modenschau präsentieren Studierende der Akademie für Mode und Design Düsseldorf (AMD) ihre Modelle. Der Entwurf für das diesjährige Kampagnenmotiv der Festival Edition stammt ebenfalls von einer Studierenden der AMD.

Die bekannte Modemesse NEONYT (IGEDO) wird in diesem Jahr auch für Endkonsumentinnen und Endkonsumenten geöffnet. Der Festivaltag endet mit einer großen Branchenparty, veranstaltet vom Fashion Net Düsseldorf.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles unveils programme

In sync with the fair’s 30th anniversary, the sourcing platform will host around 12 fringe events for fairgoers to stay ahead of the curve, under the following segments: Design Inspiration, Business O2O, Textiles & Technologies, and Industry Empowerment. Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles has joined forces with Danish trend agency SPOTT trends & business to present the design theme for 2025 – ‘Healing Home’ – together with eight trend directions set to captivate the home textiles market. Set to be a hotspot for in vogue sourcing and industry exchange, the show will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 14 – 16 August 2024.

With the intention of sparking further design inspiration for industry players, an expert panel discussion of Chinese interior architects and designers, InterDesign Forum, will be held on the afternoon of Day 1. Focusing on design trend topics related to sustainability, Mr Shen Lei, Founder and Design Director of Interior Architects Design and the Chinese representative of the Intertextile International Lifestyle Trend Committee, will lead the discussion. In addition to serving as a gateway for efficient sourcing, the show will inspire fairgoers through its fringe programme, with various formats and topics unpacking current talking points.

Highlighted sessions include:    

  • Round table discussion: Bridging Borders: A Designer x Producer Talk on Sustainability – a dialogue between designers and manufacturers, exploring how to collaboratively overcome sustainability challenges and reconcile the demands of both sides, from both Eastern and Western perspectives.
  • Econogy Talks: selected exhibitors, including 3M, Advansa and many more, as well as a representative from Indorama will showcase their innovative green products, giving attendees in-person insights into some of the market’s latest sustainable developments in the Sustainable Fibre Forum. Finishing machinery specialist Monforts will exhibit at the upcoming Febratex textile machinery exhibition taking place in Blumenau, Brazil, from August 20-23, along with Uniferro, its new regional partner.

This new alliance follows the retirement of Herbert Erdmann of the service agency Euro Texteis, who has worked with Monforts over more than 30 years to secure a leading position in the region for Montex stenter dryers, Thermex dyeing ranges and associated finishing technology.

With offices in Sao Paulo and Ceara and sub-agents across Brazil, Uniferro has been active in the textile industry for over 50 years.

For single-sided application with paste or foam, the versatile coater is suitable for both incorporation into existing finishing ranges as well as installation with new Monforts Montex stenter systems.

A wide range of coatings can be applied to fabrics for providing functions such as waterproofing, liquid and gas protection and breathability, in addition to foam lamination and black-out coating.

Denim hub
Brazil remains a buoyant hub for textile manufacturing with a particular stength in the denim dyeing and finishing sector and many Monforts Thermex hotflue dyeing systems are already operational in the region, reaping the benefits of the Econtrol® process.

Econtrol® is a continuous process for the dyeing of woven cotton and cellulosic fabrics, especially denim, in which reactive dyestuffs are fixed into the fabric in a one-step dyeing and drying process with a controlled combination of steam and air. The entire pad-dry process takes just two-to-three minutes.

“Differentiation is the key in the highly-competitive denim fabrics industry, whether through the successful incorporation of new fibres, accommodating new fabric constructions or exploring the many options for how to treat them at the finishing stage, to gain a market advantage,” says says Monforts Regional Sales Manager Achim Gesser. “Our lines allow users to be extremely versatile and respond quickly to market demand, while also allowing very short production runs.”

Because finishing is a particularly energy-intensive part of the textile production chain, it is exactly where convincing results can be achieved, he adds, and Monforts has developed a wide range of energy-saving. These included a range of heat recovery systems, such as the Universal Energy Tower and the ECO Booster. Both can also be retrofitted to existing ranges to make production more resource-efficient and economical, yet without having to invest in a new machine.

“Energy costs tend to be high in Brazil and can account for up to 70% of production costs for our customers, so there is great demand for ways of saving money,” says Gesser. “Cutting energy usage also helps in terms of global warming and reducing carbon footprint, of course, so these latest technologies are a win-win for fabric finishers. The Chinese brands impressed the international fashion world with their exclusive and extraordinary collections at the Costruzioni Lorenesi in the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The famous fashion journalist, Suzy Menkes, was also impressed by the creations.

Circular Valley Convention 2025: New Platform for the circular economy

The Circular Valley Convention is a new trade fair format organised by Messe Düsseldorf in cooperation with the non-profit Circular Valley Foundation and with scientific support from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology called UMSICHT.

The convention looks at the circular economy from a holistic perspective: across industries and materials – and all phases of the circular economy, from smart circular design to the reuse and further utilisation of products.

As a central global platform for the circular economy, it brings together decision-makers and experts from business, academia, politics, and society in one place. Under the motto "Uniting Industries for a Circular Tomorrow", it promotes their networking in order to present and jointly develop circular solutions and processes and drive forward the transformation towards a circular economy.

The Circular Valley Convention covers all phases of the circular economy: from the use of renewable raw materials to product design, manufacturing, logistics, and operations all the way through to collection, sorting, and recycling, featuring solutions for different material classes and value chains. The convention combines applied research and practice and is a content hub for top decision-makers and experts. With the guiding theme "Enabling Circular Economy", the focus is on three central topics that enable the transformation towards a circular economy:

  • Enabling Value Chains: the implementation of efficient, sustainable, and cross-industry circular solution strategies to maximise the use of resources and make business models fit for the future.
  • Enabling Technologies: the transfer of circular competencies such as redesign, refurbish, remanufacture & recycle. The goal is to optimise products and processes using technologies that comply with the principles of the circular economy.
  • Enabling Materials: the promotion of the efficient use and recycling of various materials, aiming for the extension of product lifespans and the integration of cross-material circular strategies for the sustainable use of resources.

the Circular Valley Convention offers a three-part event format consisting of a conference, an expo, and a networking event on the evening of 12 March 2024. Over 100 high-calibre speakers are scheduled to attend the conference. More than 130 exhibitors and partners are expected to attend the expo, the marketplace for future-oriented circular solutions, which offers insights into new trends, innovations, and best practice examples.

RadiciGroup: New traceability projects at Milano Unica

A navy blue nylon dress, providing elegance and comfort to the wearer while simultaneously highlighting the entire Made in Italy production chain: this is the new project RadiciGroup is presenting at Milano Unica, from July 9th to 11th at the Innovation Forum promoted by the TexClubTec section of Sistema Moda Italia.

The dress is the result of a traceability project led by RadiciGroup, involving different players in the textile sector: from the yarn producer to the fabric manufacturer to the final consumer.

A "tracer" has been inserted into the yarn, which is detectable through a scanner and allows to map the entire garment creation process - both physically and digitally - from the origin of the fibre to the item end of life. Through a QR code printed on the label, all the "stages" defining the outfit's journey can be seen, including the production of the fabric made by another company from Bergamo, Sitip. In this way, the final consumers can learn more about the production sites of what they wear, making more conscious purchasing choices.

Through the traceability of textile products, the goal is to fight counterfeiting and enhance products made in Europe, in line with the principles of the Digital Product Passport under development at the European Union.

Successful closing of In-store Asia 2024

The 15th In-store Asia 2024, a trade fair for retail resources and investment in store designs, visual merchandising and in-store marketing on the Indian subcontinent, has drawn to a successful close. From 13 to 15 June numerous exhibitors and retailers got together at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai to network and experience the latest trends and innovations in the industry.

Registering more than 5,500 trade visitors, In-store Asia 2024 exceeded all expectations and confirmed its position as a leading platform. The three trade fair days played out in a lively atmosphere with many business leads.

The 15th In-store Asia 2024, a trade fair for retail resources and investment in store designs, visual merchandising and in-store marketing on the Indian subcontinent, has drawn to a successful close. Solutions providers presented a comprehensive line-up of innovative products and solutions, which are required for installing modern, connected and targeted Points of Sale. Exhibits included POP and interactive displays, visual merchandising solutions and retail technologies, shopfittings complete with lighting, signage and display mannequins as well as retail designs. The event provided visitors including the decision-makers of retail brands as well as service providers, architects, designers, marketeers and retail specialists with a perfect setting for networking, exchanging ideas and forging strategic partnerships.  

Trade fair highlights included:

  • VM&RD Retail Design Awards: The Awards recognised outstanding examples of retail design and visual merchandising. Over 300 submissions in 24 categories by more than 40 companies were assessed by a jury composed of international design experts.  
  • VM Challenge: 40 visual merchandisers from more than 20 enterprises competed with each other in six teams in a live window-dressing competition to create imaginative decorations on the theme of “Surreal Chic” in 60 minutes.
  • Focal Points: Skechers, Lifestyle, Pepe Jeans and Ace Turtle impressed participants with innovatively dressed shop windows demonstrating the strength of creative design in retail.

The next In-store Asia will be held from 22 to 24 May 2025.

Studentin gewinnt internationalen Designpreis auf der Pitti Filati

Viola Schmidt, Studentin an der TEXOVERSUM Fakultät Textil der Hochschule Reutlingen wurde in Florenz mit dem Award „Feel the Yarn“ ausgezeichnet. Sie studiert im Masterstudiengang Design mit dem Schwerpunkt Künstlerische Konzeption an der TEXOVERSUM Fakultät Textil der Hochschule Reutlingen. Der Preis ist mit 5.000 Euro Preisgeld dotiert.

Ausgelobt wird der Preis für Fashiondesign-Studierende vom Zusammenschluss 41 italienischer Spinnereien, dem „Consorzio Promozione Filati“. In der diesjährigen 15. Auflage des Wettbewerbs überzeugte Viola Schmidt vor starken Mitbewerbenden und den Zweit- bzw. Drittplatzierten von der „London School of Fashion“ und des „Politecnico di Milano“ sowohl die internationale Fachjury als auch das ebenfalls stimmberechtigte Fachpublikum der Messe vor Ort.

Das Thema des diesjährigen Wettbewerbs lautete „CONTRADICTIONS“ und forderte dazu auf, kreative Lösungen zu finden, um die Harmonie zwischen Technologie und Tradition zu erforschen und eine zeitgemäße Vision zu präsentieren.

Violas Schmidt setzte ihr Design „Closer Distance“ im modernen Labor für Maschentechnologie der Fakultät Textil des TEXOVERSUMS um. Sowohl die internationale Jury als auch das Publikum der Messe zeigten sich beeindruckt und überzeugt von Schmidts Design. Das in Rottönen gehaltene, gleichzeitig elegant und progressiv anmutende, aufwendig gelayerte Design spiegelt das Thema des Wettbewerbs perfekt wider und zeigt eine bemerkenswerte Symbiose aus maschineller Präzision und gestalterischer Einzigartigkeit. Besonders beachtenswert und anspruchsvoll ist zusätzlich, dass Schmidts Design „fully fashioned“ gestrickt ist. Ein nachhaltiges Vorgehen, bei dem weder Schnittkanten, noch Abfälle entstehen.

Bereits 2022 hatte Schmidt, damals noch Studentin des Bachelorstudiengangs Fashion & Textile Design, ebenfalls an der TEXOVERSUM Fakultät Textil an der Hochschule Reutlingen, den European Fashion Award – FASH gewonnen. Mit ihrem jüngsten Erfolg bei „Feel the Yarn“ setzt sie ihre Karriere fort und präsentiert gemeinsam mit anderen Fashiondesign-Graduierenden der Fakultät ihre Bachelorkollektion „Inner Garden“ im Rahmen der Neo.Fashion auf der Berlin Fashion Week.

The winner of the World of Wipes Innovation Award® was Rockline Industries for their Facial Care Wipe with Glycine Amino Acid Complex. This new Skin Care Wipe contains a unique multifunctional complex of two medium chain glycine, a phospholipid and a blend of special glycol ingredients that provides for a multitude of skin care benefits as well as providing a unique preservation system for nonwovens. The Skin Care Wipe provides substantiated improved skin smoothness, elasticity, and hydration alongside an anti-ageing claim. This innovation is amongst the first to use these glycine ingredients in a Skin Care Wipe formulation.

INDA honors both Powling and Latten for their decades of contributions to the nonwovens industry as well as being strong advocates for INDA.

The 1.5-day WIPES Academy, led by Heidi Beatty, Chief Executive Officer, Crown Abbey, LLC, and Paul Davies, Ph.D., Consultant, Crown Abbey, LLC, preceded the WOW Conference June 17-18. This course focused on the essentials of wet wipes construction and ingredients. Participants learned how to bring nonwovens, lotions, and packaging together to launch a successful product. The next WIPES Academy will be held July 21-22, 2025 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, Columbus, Ohio in conjunction with WOW 2025.

Fashiondesignstudierende der TEXOVERSUM Fakultät Textil sind die ersten weltweit, die die innovative und komplett nachhaltige Faser WDBSD TX® Faser im Bekleidungsbereich angewendet haben. Hergestellt aus regionalem Buchenholz, bietet die Faser des Technikums Laubholz eine umweltfreundliche Alternative zu herkömmlichen Fasern.

In den vergangenen Monaten erstellten die Studierenden in den Laboren der Fakultät die erste Kollektion aus WDBSD TX® Fasern. Unter Leitung von Prof. Natalie Seng, Studiendekanin des Studiengangs Fashion & Textile Design, war das Ziel, eine möglichst große Materialvielfalt aus der Faser zu generieren. So entstanden neben Gestricken beispielsweise ebenfalls Vliese. Zusätzlich wurden Materialmanipulationen wie Plissierungen eingesetzt, um eine möglichst große kreative Bandbreite darstellen zu können. Dies ermöglichte den Studierenden, verschiedene Anwendungsfälle des Materials zu erforschen und zu gestalten, wodurch die Kollektion eine breite Palette innovativer Visualisierungen enthält. Die Entwürfe der Studierenden des 6. Semesters sind vielfältig und reichen von tragbar bis auffällig und avantgardistisch. Die monochrome Kollektion umfasst vier Kapselkollektionen - „Desert Silhouettes“, „Blooming Fiber“, „Sustainable Circles“ und „Dead Coral Society“.

Vergangene Woche wurde die Kollektion erstmals in Auszügen auf den Laubholztagen in Göppingen der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Die Premiere und Fashion-Show der vollständigen Kollektion folgt im Rahmen der Neo.Fashion. am 2. und 3. Juli während der Berlin Fashion Week. Bereits seit 2020 präsentieren Reutlinger Absolvierende ihre Abschlusskollektionen auf dem Graduate Fashion Event, das während der Berlin Fashion Week deutschen Modedesignabsolvierenden eine Plattform bietet, um sich einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren.

VIATT 2025: Multifaceted fair poised to aid rejuvenation of Vietnam's textile industry

After navigating the challenges of 2023, Vietnam's textile and garment exports have been gradually recovering. Additionally, foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam during the first five months of this year reached USD 11 billion, a 2% year-on-year increase, according to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). To cater to Vietnam’s renewed business opportunities, the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) will return from 26 – 28 February 2025 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

The fair’s inaugural edition attracted 409 exhibitors and 17,262 visits from 17 and 55 countries and regions respectively. Building on this solid foundation, VIATT 2025 will continue to showcase the latest industry trends, and expand its focus on various pertinent areas. This will include the fair’s new Econogy Hub, a dedicated zone to advance the topic of sustainability in the textile industry, and to relate it closely to the demands of economic and social change. Together with the evolving environmental landscape, the fair will also help industry players adapt to the rapid adoption of new technology in the business world with the debut of the Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone. This zone will allow exhibitors to unveil the latest technology and solutions such as AI design, digital manufacturing, big data analytics, and more.

Concurrently, VIATT 2025 will continue to present a diverse range of exhibitors across the apparel, home textile and technical textile sectors, with positive feedback received from many quarters at the fair’s inaugural edition.

Apparel Fabrics & Fashion
In the first four months of 2024, textile and garment exports grew 6.3% year-on-year to over USD 10 billion. The US remains Vietnam’s top export market, followed by the EU, South Korea, China, and Japan. To meet this demand, Vietnam's textile industry continues to import a significant amount of raw materials. At VIATT 2024, yarns, fibres and fabrics for casualwear, sportswear and uniforms, as well as garment accessories, were in high demand.

Home & Contract Textiles
Vietnam’s home textile market is projected to undergo a steady CAGR of 2.4% from 2024 – 2032, driven by the rising need for modern and stylish home textiles, e-commerce expansion, and favourable government initiatives. At the fair’s previous edition, product groups included bedding, loungewear and bathroom textiles, curtains and curtain fabrics, upholstery and sofa fabrics, and home textile accessories.

At VIATT 2025, exhibitors can additionally present their latest offerings in the Home Textiles Display Zone or at dedicated product presentations, to maximise their visibility to potential buyers.

Technical Textiles & Technologies
Across the textile industry, investors are now focusing on optimising production capacity, streamlining supply chains, and enhancing product quality to maintain competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. With the new Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone to supplement the textile technology category, VIATT 2025 is set to play host to providers of textile and nonwoven machinery, CAD/CAM, CMT, and technology for embroidery, knitting, sewing, printing, and more. Exhibitors can draw more attention to their latest solutions by participating in the fair's new innovation showcase area.

The Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), covering the entire textile industry value chain. The second edition will be held from 26 – 28 February 2025.

China in-store 2024 with Special Areas

China in-store, which was established under the name C-Star as an official satellite of EuroShop in Shanghai in 2015, will be held in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center from 3 to 5 September 2024. In consumer-friendly and tech-savvy China innovative store design plays a prominent role, which is why the trade fair specifically focuses on instore design and high-end solutions for brands. On display will be solutions for store design, fittings, but also retail technologies that help to selectively shape stores as spaces for interacting with shoppers as well as stage their brand messages.

After the success of last year’s event attracting over 100 exhibitors and almost 14,000 trade visitors, China in-store 2024 will offer over 200 providers of retail design and retail-relevant solutions the opportunity to showcase their latest instore design, retail technology and retail solutions while inviting industry professionals to explore, learn and network. The exhibited products and solutions for shopfitting and the retail industry will include store design, materials as well as surfaces and furnishings for shops – ranging from displays fixtures and mannequins to visual merchandising services and omnichannel technologies.

Since personalisation in retail is increasing in importance, the Designer Village will present design companies with trail-blazing stand designs and visual merchandising solutions. The special area will inspire visitors with innovative store concepts that improve both the brand image and customer journey. At the Retail Technology Village the latest advances in AI, VR and data analytics will be presented. These technologies enable an omnichannel experience for shoppers and convert physical stores into third places. On the Retail Stage and the Design Stage experts, retailers and brands will present the latest retail trends, shopfitting strategies and innovations that drive the retail market. A themed exhibition is dedicated to changing trends in retail area design.  

Once again proving a highlight of China in-store will be the presentation of the ERDA China (EuroShop RetailDesign Award China) on 4 September 2024; this award recognises store designs and extraordinary store concepts from the Chinese market. This year the categories were extended.

HSNR-Studierende zeigen Kollektionen auf der Neo.Fashion Berlin

Graduierte vom Fachbereich Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik der Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) präsentieren ihre Kollektionen bei der Berlin Fashion Week. Auf der Neo.Fashion haben Absolvent:innen jedes Jahr die Chance, Einblicke in ihr kreatives Schaffen zu geben. In diesem Jahr läuft die Neo.Fashion vom 2. bis 3. Juli.

Passend zum Titel ihrer Kollektion „skinsitive – pure cotton“ legte Anna Reintges (Bachelor Design-Ingenieur Mode) den Fokus auf eine besonders hautfreundliche Dessous-Loungewear aus reiner Bio-Baumwolle. Selbst Bestandteile wie die Versteller der Träger und Gummibänder sind aus Bio-Baumwolle oder Naturkautschuk gefertigt sind, sodass die gesamte Kollektion biologisch abbaubar und vegan ist.

Florian Schilders (Bachelor Design-Ingenieur Mode) Kollektion „Form Follows Flora“ soll das Bewusstsein für bedrohte Pflanzenarten schärfen. Dabei fokussiert er die Naturfaszination des Menschen und reflektiert die Auswirkungen ihrer Ausbeutung. In Schnitt, Muster und Materialien lässt er sich von gefährdeten Pflanzen inspirieren. Monochrome Teile imitieren Eukalyptusblätter, Drapagen verkörpern Irisblüten, Falten ahmen Blattstrukturen nach.

Kerstin Greuls (Bachelor Design-Ingenieur Mode) Kollektion heißt „Reworked Radiance“ und ist vorrangig für Herrenbekleidung konzipiert. Durch Upcycling hat sie gebrauchten Kleidungsstücken neues Leben eingehaucht und dafür altes Material mit neuen Elementen kombiniert. Schnürungen und Cut-Outs sorgen für einen avantgardistischen Look mit Designs, die nachhaltig und trendbewusst sind.

Leonie Bachstädter (Master Textile Produkte – Design) hat für ihre Linie „PHYGITAL WEAVE“ sechs Outfits erstellt. Sie bringt die Verwobenheit zweier Realitäten zum Ausdruck: physisches Handwerk und virtuelle Designprozesse. Renderings von textilen Oberflächentexturen, Reflexionen und Faltenwurf werden hier auf Organza gedruckt oder auf Jacquard gewebt. Leonie Bachstädter verarbeitete zudem ausschließlich fehlerhaftes Leder. Entstanden sind Anzüge, Kleider und ein Mantel mit 3D-gedruckten Knöpfen und Gehörschutz-Accessoires.

Tatjana Reider (Master Management of Textile and Trade Technology) verwendete für ihre Kleidungsstücke passend zum Titel „BAD MOON RISING“ einen Farbton, der zwischen Blau und Lila wechselt. Die genderneutrale Kollektion kombiniert klassische Silhouetten mit futuristischen Akzenten wie Designelementen aus transparenten Stoffen.

Nora Abdel Hadi (Bachelor Design Ingenieur Mode) fusioniert verschiedene Stilrichtungen innerhalb der schwarzen Szene – inspiriert von Mode, Musik und Lebensphilosophie. Unter dem Titel „In the Realm of Shadows“ hat sie für die Frühjahrs-/Sommersaison eine Linie für den Alltag und eine für besondere Anlässe entworfen. Entstanden sind sieben Outfits aus je mindestens drei Einzelteilen, welche beliebig kombinierbar sind.

Bei Naahal Sanatigars (Bachelor Design Ingenieur Mode) Kollektion „knock knock. who‘s there? its‘you! who‘s you?“ trifft Psychologie auf Mode. Dabei reflektierte sie verschiedene Phasen ihres Lebens. Bei der modischen Umsetzung von Emotionen wie Geborgenheit oder Angst entstanden sechs Outfits, die für je eine Etappe ihrer Persönlichkeitsentwicklung stehen und Silhouetten von fließend bis körperbetont beinhalten. Dafür arbeitete sie mit wasserbasiertem Digitaldruck auf Baumwolle und „Cameo-Druck“.

In „I’ll be your mirror“ stellt Lisa Opitz (Bachelor Design-Ingenieur Mode) die Großeltern- und Enkelkind-Generation gegenüber. Auf der Grundlage von Familienfotos arbeitete sie die stilistischen Mittel der Generation Babyboomer heraus. So wurden Elemente der Kleidung aus der Vergangenheit betont und durch die Einbindung aktueller Trends der Generation Z neu interpretiert.

Sophie Plöttner (Bachelor Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik – Produktentwicklung) und Lisa-Marie Brodka (Bachelor Design-Ingenieur Textil) treten in Berlin als Team an. Mit ihrer Kollektion “DEAR JANUS” - Namensgeber ist der römische Gott Janus, der in die Zukunft und Vergangenheit blickt - präsentieren sie Gegensätze in Schnitt, Farbe, Form und Stil. Die beiden Absolventinnen verbinden traditionelles Handwerk mit modernster KI-Technologie. So werden Codes zu Pinselstrichen, Prompts zu Bildern. Die Schnittgestaltung basiert auf einem experimentellen Ansatz und dem freien Drapieren. Das Duo nimmt zudem an der Best Graduates Show der diesjährigen Neo.Fashion teil.
