Textilkette weiter im wichtigen Austausch über Erfordernisse für Persönliche Schutzausrüstung

Ein großer Erfolg war das 2. Fachgespräch Dialog in der Textilkette zu aktuellen PSA-Themen, zu dem WIRTEX, die Fachverbände IVGT e.V. und der GermanFashion Modeverband nach Frankfurt eingeladen hatten. Ein vielseitiges Programm bot Aktuelles von Trends im PSA-Design, über Normenfragen und Zertifizierungen bis hin zu Anforderungen im öffentlichen Beschaffungswesen.
Nach der Begrüßung durch WIRTEX-Geschäftsführer Dr. Andreas Marek eröffnete Sabine Anton-Katzenbach von der Textilberatung Hamburg die Vortragsreihe mit „Trends in der Persönlichen Schutzkleidung“. Dabei stellte sie fünf Trendthemen vor, die für die Entwicklungen in der Persönlichen Schutzkleidung von entscheidender Bedeutung sind: „Komfortgewinn“ durch elastische, leichte Fasermischungen und verschiedene Kleidungslagen, „Digitalisierung“ durch Smart-Textiles und Industrie 4.0, „Ende des Raubbaus“ durch Übernahme gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung, ein nach oben offener „Preis“ und „Normative Weiterentwicklung“ von Textilien und Pflegeprozessen.

Mehr als ein Jahr nach Veröffentlichung der neuen EU-PSA-Verordnung 2016 konnte Thomas Lange, stellvertretender Hauptgeschäftsführer im GermanFashion Modeverband, in dem auch die Hersteller von Arbeits-, Berufs- und Schutzbekleidung zusammengeschlossen sind, über aktuelle Probleme der PSA-Verordnung berichten. Er kommentierte Fragen mit weiterem Klärungsbedarf, die sich bei der Umsetzung der neuen Verordnung zeigen, gab wichtige Auslegungshinweise und erläuterte Urteile aus dem Produktsicherheits- und Produkthaftungsrecht. Auch Peter Heffels von der Berufsgenossenschaft der Bauwirtschaft befasste sich mit der Umstellung auf die PSA-Verordnung. Er setzte jedoch die Brille einer Zertifizierungsstelle auf und ermöglichte damit die Betrachtung dieser Thematik aus anderer Perspektive.

Crescent Laundry, Davenport, Iowa, has again achieved Hygienically Clean (HC) Healthcare certification, reflecting their commitment to best management practices (BMPs) in laundering as verified by on-site inspection and their capability to produce hygienically clean textiles as quantified by ongoing microbial testing.
Crescent was first certified in 2014. Recertification confirms the organization’s continuing dedication to infection prevention, compliance with recognized industry standards and processing healthcare textiles using BMPs as described in its quality assurance documentation, a focal point for Hygienically Clean inspectors’ evaluation. The independent, third-party inspection must also confirm essential evidence that:
• Employees are properly trained and protected
• Managers understand regulatory requirements

This process eliminates subjectivity by focusing on outcomes and results that verify textiles cleaned in these facilities meet appropriate hygienically clean standards and BMPs for hospitals, surgery centers, medical offices, nursing homes and other medical facilities. Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification acknowledges laundries’ effectiveness in protecting healthcare operations through testing and inspections that scrutinize quality control procedures in textile services operations related to the handling of textiles containing blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Lectra, ESTIA, the Today Tomorrow Textiles Foundation and JPS Conseil launch the ‘Biarritz Active Lifestyle Integral’ Chair

Over three years, this new Chair aims to help the fashion industry’s eco-system—from textile design to clothing sales—transform challenges coming from new ways of living and consuming into economic opportunities.
“How to find and develop sustainable materials which will open up new markets for companies in the sector? Which technologies to invent to make the most of these new materials? How to organize the factory of the future to meet new consumer expectations, such as customization? It’s an entire economy that we aim to develop around emerging industries,” explains Jean-Pierre Mocho, the founder of JPS Conseil and former President of the French federation for women’s ready-to-wear. “There are many opportunities to seize, on condition that all the players, both old and new, work together.”

This approach will also foster interactions between different professions in order to stimulate creativity. Inspired by overarching principles in the collaborative and circular economy, the Chair also aims to capitalize on advances in research, from frugal or disruptive innovation.

SDC’s annual competition engages with hundreds of students, universities and designers globally, helping the entrants develop their understanding of color and the challenges around sustainability in the textile supply chain. The theme for 2018 is ‘color communication’.
With a global textile supply chain, being able to communicate a given color through the supply chain efficiently and effectively is vital. Ultimately this provides the designer with the knowledge that their product is commercially suitable from the initial concept stages through to final product.
Archroma will support the competition with its Color Atlas color management system, which will be key to both the competition theme and the accompanying educational package.
Using these colors also provides the best opportunity to minimize the environmental impact during the dyeing/printing process by ensuring that the dyes conform to many of the environmental standards that exist and are applied using best practice.

The H160 was designed by Airbus Helicopters to create added value for customers in terms of performance, economic competitiveness, safety and comfort. The use of Hexcel’s composite materials throughout the structure (fuselage, tail boom, tail rotor and main rotor blades) contributes to the lightweight fuel-saving design and performance optimization.
“Hexcel’s composite materials have been used in Airbus Helicopters’ programs for many years and we are honored to be continuing our long term relationship, based on innovation and continuous improvement” commented Thierry Merlot, Hexcel President Aerospace EMEA-AP. “We thank Airbus Helicopters for their selection and look forward to our ongoing supply of high performance, weight saving composites materials for this innovative rotorcraft”.

Finavia recruits 200 test passengers to assess the new Helsinki Airport terminal facilities – A role play inspired event at the airport

A new era of travel will soon be here when Finavia opens the new magnificent south wing of Helsinki Airport during summer 2017. Before the opening, Finavia will invite 200 volunteers to the airport to test that the south wing operations work as they should. Finavia has an ongoing development programme at Helsinki Airport, worth of almost one billion euros, which will expand the airport and increase its capacity. With the development programme, Finavia is prepared to serve 20 million passengers at Helsinki Airport per year in 2020.

A new era of travel will soon be here when Finavia opens the new magnificent south wing of Helsinki Airport during summer 2017. Before the opening, Finavia will invite 200 volunteers to the airport to test that the south wing operations work as they should. Finavia has an ongoing development programme at Helsinki Airport, worth of almost one billion euros, which will expand the airport and increase its capacity. With the development programme, Finavia is prepared to serve 20 million passengers at Helsinki Airport per year in 2020.
The first part of the new extension, the south wing, is now ready for testing and waits for the final touch before being opened for passengers. Finavia will arrange a unique deployment test in a role play spirit at Helsinki Airport on Thursday 6 July 2017. The purpose of the deployment test, which is the largest in the history of the airport, is to ensure before deployment that the terminal operations and processes at the south wing work as they should. - The test day is arranged in order to ensure a smooth, pleasant travel experience, which is the cornerstone of all of our services. Test passengers will have a unique day at the airport and the possibility to look behind the scenes, says Helsinki Airport Director Ville Haapasaari from Finavia.
During the test day, the visibility of signs, passenger pleasantness and the technological solutions of the airport, among others, will be under scrutiny.

World’s best circular economy solutions to be presented in Helsinki, 5-7 June 2017

Pilatus is displaying the PC-24 at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, taking place in Geneva on May 22-24. This highly versatile jet is able to take off and land on very short runways and unpaved strips due in part to the composite-intensive structure, which makes great use of Hexcel’s composite materials and adhesive.

Hexcel’s HexPly® 8552 woven prepreg in carbon and glass variants is used to manufacture a number of the aircraft components including the belly fairing, which is the largest composite structure on the aircraft. HexPly® 8552 is one of Hexcel’s most successful and widely used prepregs for aircraft programs including commercial aircraft and fighter jets. Hexcel’s Redux® 319 epoxy film adhesive is also used for bonding the composite structures. The PC-24 is in the final stages of its certification program following the first flight of the third and final test aircraft on March 6 2017. The aircraft is scheduled for certification and entry into service in the 4th quarter 2017. Pilatus has so far secured 84 orders for the PC-24, which equates to three years of production.

Hygienically Clean Healthcare Exhibit Educates Surgery Center Professionals

An exhibit at the recent Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) annual meeting in Washington promoted the value of doing business with a Hygienically Clean Healthcare certified launderer. More than 120 attendees learned how the certification verifies laundries’ best management practices (BMPs) and quantifies laundered product cleanliness. The display marked the first such promotion of Hygienically Clean Healthcare to an outpatient medical market. Previous exhibits touted the certification to hospital audiences: the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) and Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Like members of those groups, most ASCA participants interviewed were industry customers, but represented a wider variety of professions, including M.D. owners and these job titles:

Roughly 10 percent of the visitors to the Hygienically Clean exhibit on May 3-5 expressed concern about the product and service quality of their linen, uniform and facility services providers. Using a Hygienically Clean certified launderer addresses quality concerns, they were told, as inspectors focus on a facility’s quality assurance manual as the hub of control measures (BMPs) that minimize potential for error. In addition, unlike Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) certification, Hygienically Clean microbial testing measures finished product quality, enforcing a total microbial content ceiling, including yeasts, molds and bacteria.

MaxTex Forum in Berlin organisiert. Auch der Deutsche Textil Reinigungsverband (DTV) hatte seine Mitglieder zu diesem hochkarätigen Tag im Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit eingeladen. Gerhard Becker, MaxTex-Geschäftsführer, und Dr. Andreas Marek, Geschäftsführer von WIRTEX, eröffneten die Veranstaltung. „Gastgeber“ Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, Staatssekretär im Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, dankte den Verbänden für ihr Engagement und stärkte den Rücken der Unternehmen aus der Textilwirtschaft, die sich Ihrer Verantwortung bewusst seien und sich für eine transparente und nachhaltige Entwicklung einsetzen. Er unterstrich, dass 90 % der finanziellen Mittel im Rahmen der wirtschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit aus dem privaten Sektor kämen.

The sustainable wear2wear concept is synonymous with high-quality, responsible clothing. In Europe, textile fibres from used garments will be used to produce new functional fabrics. Depending on the area of intended use, they also meet strict waterproofing, breathability, protection and comfort requirements. To ensure that the raw material cycle comes full circle, these textiles can be recycled again when they reach the end of their service life. As a result, there is no waste, and they go on to be used in the production of additional garments. All wear2wear partner companies guarantee that – from the quality of the raw materials to the guaranteed recycling end process– these are 100 percent recyclable, functional fabrics made of recycled textile fibres. Water- and dirt-repelling technologies based on renewable raw materials, along with the most advanced membrane technology, will ensure that the textiles are developed and manufactured entirely without the use of PFC in the future too.
