Eastman Naia™: Sustainability Progress Report and 2025-2030 Sustainability Goals

At Textile Exchange Conference 2025, Eastman Naia™ released its 2025 Sustainability Progress Report and announced its 2025-2030 Sustainability Goals, presenting a record of genuine progress and outlining a renewed roadmap for the years ahead. Rooted in transparency and measurability, the updated goals set a course through 2030 across three key priorities: mitigating climate change, mainstreaming circularity, and caring for society. These commitments reflect the very principles championed at the Textile Exchange conference. 

“We mark five years into our Naia™ sustainability goals journey with pride and humility. This update is a meaningful checkpoint documenting verifiable progress, acknowledging the work still to be done, and presenting a renewed roadmap for the years ahead,” said Ruth Farrell, General Manager of Eastman Textiles. “Most importantly, it reaffirms our unwavering commitment to sustainability, circularity and the health of our industry.”

On Day 1 of the event, Ebru Ozkucuk Guler, RE&UP’s Chief Sustainability Officer, joined the panel “Toward Impactful Textile-to-Textile Recycling Systems”, alongside Suhas Khandagale (H&M) and Cyndi Rhoades (Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems). The interactive session examined the current and future scale of feedstocks for textile-to-textile recycling, discussed legislation, sorting challenges, and explored practical solutions to accelerate circularity. 

“If we truly want to create a solution, brands must stay committed, stepping back is no longer an option,” said Ebru Ozkucuk Guler, RE&UP. “We were thrilled to share insights and explore actionable solutions with partners committed to circularity.”

EREMA: Laser filters further developed for high throughputs in plastics recycling

At K 2025, EREMA launches a POWERFIL brand innovation that sets new standards in melt filtration for plastics recycling. The new LF 812 high-performance filter has twice the screen surface area of the previous premium model, the LF 406, extending the series upwards. Another new feature is the integration of the proven Lock & Change system for changing screens during operation in the Endurance filter, which handles the pre-filtration of heavily contaminated input streams such as unwashed materials. 

"This latest development in our laser filter sees us take a decisive step towards meeting the growing demands for high throughputs in plastics recycling at the same time as achieving the highest quality of melt," says Markus Huber-Lindinger, Managing Director at EREMA. The 100 percent larger screen surface of the new LF 812 laser filter boosts throughput, or maintains throughput while using screens with finer filters, which is particularly advantageous for quality-driven applications. Thanks to the larger surface area of the filter, it is also possible to operate at lower pressure and with less thermal load.

Maximum screen area, minimum space requirement
Up to 5,000 kilogrammes of melt can be filtered per hour with the single version of the new laser filter. "As a leading provider of plastics recycling machines, at EREMA we focus our experience and technical expertise on equipping large-scale systems with high-performance filtration in a compact design," says Markus Huber-Lindinger. The single version of the LF 812 laser filter covers applications with throughputs that previously required multiple filter units. "The major increase in surface area opens up new scope for system design. In many cases, this results in smaller space requirements and a more compact overall solution," adds Robert Obermayr, Product Group Manager for POWERFIL at EREMA. 

Manufactured inhouse for the highest quality and supply chain security
High-quality, high-performance filters continue to gain in importance in plastics recycling. The EREMA Group is responding to this by expanding inhouse manufacturing of filter components at 3S in Wartberg, a company that is also part of the EREMA Group. Investments in new production and heat treatment technologies increase vertical integration to ensure consistently high component quality. That is how EREMA strengthens supply chain security for customers who rely on the company's recycling systems and components.

The Textile Institute celebrates 100 years

Fresh from its highly successful 63rd conference held in Porto, Portugal, from October 7-10, The Textile Institute (TI) will celebrate a major milestone at the ITMA Asia+CITME textile machinery exhibition in Singapore later this month.

One hundred years ago, in 1925, TI was granted its Royal Charter by King George V, transforming it from a professional association into a globally recognised chartered body, and in Singapore from October 28-31, is seeking to strengthen its international partnerships while welcoming new Corporate Members to its expanding global network.

The overall concept impressed not only customers, but also the jury of the German Design Awards, who honored the system with the prestigious design award during the trade fair.

In times of a growing global shortage of skilled workers, the simple and intuitive operation of production equipment is a decisive success factor. That is why Reifenhäuser has completely redesigned its human-machine interface (HMI) and introduced a completely new, visually appealing, and responsive solution. It combines the highly complex and heterogeneous requirements of different extrusion machines in a flexible and scalable system. Reifenhäuser will be showcasing the new HMI at its open house during the K trade fair on its new EVO GEN3 and EVEREX blown film and flat film lines.

The operator can access every setting with a maximum of two clicks and, thanks to customizable dashboards and a clearly laid out start-up page, retains control over the entire extrusion process at all times. The intelligent color concept and the intuitive, responsive touch interface significantly speed up operation.

The new development was carried out in collaboration with HMI Project, a renowned agency specializing in human-machine interfaces (HMI). The new HMI was developed with a focus on people in order to simplify everyday operation of complex machines. In a user-centered process, real-life usage scenarios were analyzed and validated through usability tests. The result is a modular, scalable, and extremely flexible interface that combines technical complexity and user-friendliness at the highest level. Assistance systems, informative illustrations, and a clear visual hierarchy support the operator in setting up, monitoring, and optimizing sensitive production processes. 

The German Design Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape. Since 2012, the award has identified significant design trends, made them visible, and honored them. Every year, outstanding work in the fields of product design, communication design, and architecture is recognized.

Cibutex Event: WORKING ON CHANGE

Cibutex, the Dutch/European circularity organisation for business textiles, held its annual Fall Event on October 1 in Amsterdam. Cibutex, set up by 5 textile management companies in 2022, today is a representation of a wide spectrum of companies from the business textile industry. It currently has around 50 members, located all over Europe. 
 
Like Cibutex itself, the day was not at all like the average corporate congress. Expert speakers presented their view and knowledge of some complex issues, like the upcoming EPR laws and the situation of the textile recycling industry. The day’s theme ‘Working on Change’ was implemented litterally during the day: the 70 visitors to the event got actively involved in the discussions and expert panels. Together they worked on the future of Cibutex, as a driver of change in the world of industrial textiles.

Demonstrating total control with UK technologies

Abrasion and pilling testing 
Martindale testing needs little introduction to textile manufacturers, being well established as the industry standard for abrasion and pilling testing since its initial development and introduction by James Heal back in the 1940s.

For 2025, however, James Heal’s development team have taken a fresh look at this classic instrument and the result is the new Martindale Motion.
This redesigned nine-station Martindale instrument with individual lifting heads now offers the flexibility to run each station independently for carrying out different textile tests simultaneously.

Multiple textiles can be tested at the same time through to conclusion without intervention. Once set up, the Martindale Motion can be left running with the sample holders automatically lifting at the required evaluation points, freeing up the operator’s time to do other work without the need to return until the abrasion or pilling test is fully completed, including overnight.

Each sample is kept in-tact at the end point for evaluation and checking, reducing queries on grading and the potential need for re-testing. Further refinements include a new hinged access to change the self-aligning drive pins, allowing quick and safe switching between tests.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the James Heal Martindale range has seen numerous updates, models and innovations over the years, such as touchscreen and user-friendly software, best-in-class safety features combined with the signature near silent running of this staple lab instrument. Added to this have been the introduction of the DurAbrasion multi-function testing machine, later followed by the market-leading evolution, the AquAbrasion wet abrasion tester launched in 2019.

The Martindale Motion, however, is now taking productivity and efficiency to a higher level than ever before.

Kyocera Supported Production of Collections at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026

Kyocera Document Solutions Inc. supported the production of dresses using artworks painted by artists contracted to HERALBONY for ANREALAGE’s Collection at Paris Fashion Week SS 2026, held on September 30, 2025. The collection comprised 30 outfits, 26 of which used fabrics printed with our sustainable inkjet textile printer "FOREARTH". For this collection, 21 vibrant designs by 18 artists contracted to HERALBONY were printed onto wide range of fabrics and, through ANREALAGE’s craftmanship, transformed into distinctive garments that conveyed movement and vitality. FOREARTH printing was used for bags and shoes, giving their designs an inner glow that attracted significant attention.

Works by artists contracted to HERALBONY are characterized by both intricate, delicate expressions and bold, powerful strokes. In the printing process for this garment production, our FOREARTH faithfully reproduced those artistic expressions. Moreover, features unique to each artwork—such as variations in brush pressure and brushstroke—along with subtle differences in hue and tonal gradation were recreated through precise ink-volume adjustments made possible by digital technology, allowing FOREARTH to play a significant role in this production.

With an area of around 4,000 square meters, Italy ranks among the top exhibiting Countries, as in previous editions. 53 Italian exhibitors will show their innovations within the National Sector Groups, organized by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Italian Trade Agency.

ITMA ASIA + CITME show has always been the main showcase for textile machinery manufacturers in Asia, which absorbs 50% of global exports for a value of 8.8 billion euro in 2024. The main world market for textile machinery are China and India, importing textile machines for a total value of 4.3 billion euro.

For Italian manufacturers as well, the Asian market is the top foreign destination. In 2024, Italian exports to Asia amounted to 664 million euro, while in the first six months of 2025 Italian sales to this geographical area grew at 1% rate on the same 2024 period, reaching a value of 317 million euro. China, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are the main Asian destinations for Made in Italy machinery.

Swedish innovation at ITMA Asia + CITME

In response to unprecedented market demand, BW Converting, a member of TMAS, the Swedish textile machinery association, will provide details about its new Baldwin TexChroma digital spray dyeing system at ITMA Asia + CITME in Singapore from October 28-31.

“We are excited to launch TexChroma because spray dyeing is the future and many of our customers are already seeing the benefits,” says Yiannis Vasilonikolos, BW Converting Sales Leader for Textiles, who has many years’ experience in textile dyeing technology. “We have conducted successful trials of TexChroma with pigment, reactive, acid and disperse dyes on both cotton and synthetic fibres.”

From production data to date, TexChroma can achieve savings in energy, dyes and chemicals of more than 30% compared to conventional continuous pad batch dyeing using steam, and up to 50% compared to exhaust reactive dyeing. 

It also benefits from an advanced technology enabling reactive dyestuffs and alkali fixation chemicals to be mixed just seconds before spray application, in order to completely eliminate any ‘tailing and listing’– uneven dye application or colour variations.

The TexCoat® G4 Legacy
The introduction of TexChroma follows the runaway success of BW Converting’s Texcoat G4 finishing system in the past few years.

“TexCoat G4 spray technology was developed in Sweden from our off-set printing business, and we initially focused on installing units in Europe and the USA,” explains Vice President of Global Business Development for Textiles Rick Stanford. 
“In the past two years, however, we have been very active in Asia, with 35 units sold – and many of these customers have been asking for a similar technology for the dyeing process.” 

The first TexChroma will be installed at the plant of a very well-known Italian continuous dyer which is part of a larger textile manufacturing group, in order for it to be fully industrially tested before going into series production.

“Our first customer is close by our facility in Sweden, has the practical dyehouse skills we can learn from, and is a satisfied TexCoat G4 customer,” Stanford says. “We believe a major benefit of TexChroma will be in eliminating much rework which is common in dyehouses, but we’ve been very cautious about providing details on TexChroma too early. The dyeing process is unforgiving, and we must get it right the first time. The market has been ready for quite some time. And now, so are we.”

In further new developments from TMAS members at the Singapore show, Kinna Automatic will provide details of its complete robotic lines for the production of pillows and duvets for the home furnishings sector and introduce the new Hector industrial sewing machine designed for the heavy duty circular and point stitching of filled textile components.

Eltex has made an important breakthrough on its EyETM tension monitoring system for the heat setting, tufting, warping and winding sectors, with the addition of electromagnetic brakes in combination with the latest advanced sensors. These enable tension variation to not only be detected, but automatically adjusted in real time during operation, rather than manually changed as previously.

The company’s ACT-R unit can further significantly reduce the selvedge yarn waste from the weft insertion systems of rapier weaving machines, while at the same time maintaining equal and steady tension across all pre-winders.

Advanced weaving control is also the bedrock of business for Vandewiele Sweden AB, which supplies weft yarn feeding and tension control units for weaving looms to the majority of the leading weaving machine manufacturers, as well as for retrofitting in working mills around the world The company will present its latest X4 yarn feeders with integrated accessory displays and has recently further strengthened its product portfolio with IRO Gaugepart modules. These are applied to tufting looms to determine the appearance of a carpet in terms of feel and structure.

Finally, the colarette machines of Svegea set the standard throughout Asia for the high speed production of tubular apparel components such as cuffs, collars and neck tapes and in Singapore the company will demonstrate its EC 50 and EC 200 with E-Drive II models, in addition to linked cutting systems.

DTY jets for demanding spinners and yarns 
Launched at ITMA 2023, the Heberlein APe series was expanded with new types of jets. The two additional jets are particularly suitable for polyamide with fine titers.

This DTY jet series sets new standards in yarn processing. Visitors to the January show will see this philosophy brought to life. Expect a bold retro aesthetic rooted in 1980s and 1990s nostalgia and analogue design cues woven into experiences across the show floor.
 
The rebrand also reflects Source Fashion’s commitment to community. Moving away from mass attention and quick transactions, the show will prioritise deeper connections between buyers, suppliers, and creators. Alongside the exhibition, 2026 will see more community-building initiatives including retail safaris, industry mixers, and collaborative content partnerships.

A World in Flux: Global Insights and Market Realities 
The event kicked off with a powerful keynote from Ambassador Ivo H. Daalder, who offered a big-picture view of how global alliances and economic policies are reshaping trade and market opportunities. This strategic perspective set the stage for a deeper dive into the industry’s specific challenges. 

Experts from around the world shared insights on the absorbent hygiene product (AHP) markets, particularly in developing countries, where local players are thriving by embracing agility and sustainability. A separate session focused on the wipes sector, where speakers from Water UK, Euromonitor International, and Suominen Corporation underscored that collaboration, innovation, and credible claims are key to a sustainable future for the category. 

Sustainability in the Spotlight
Throughout the conference, sustainability was less of a buzzword and more of a central theme. Sessions provided practical guidance on navigating the EU’s Green Deal and securing funding for projects. A session on Green Claims in Practice was particularly vital, with representatives from the European Environmental Bureau, the TIC Council, and the European Advertising Standards Alliance offering clear advice on how to build consumer trust and avoid greenwashing. 

Innovation was also on full display, with HIRO Technologies’ groundbreaking MycoDigestible™ diaper capturing attention. The product, which uses plastic eating fungi to safely break down diapers, offered a glimpse into how biotechnology could create truly circular solutions. 

Looking Ahead: AI and the Future of Nonwovens 
The discussions also reached beyond today’s challenges to explore tomorrow’s opportunities. A keynote on Day 3 by Roover Consulting addressed the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the industry. The session showcased real-world examples of how AI can boost creativity and accelerate product development, while also addressing the crucial need for responsible implementation.

The value of face-to-face connection was a recurring theme. Beyond the formal sessions, OUTLOOK™ had many networking events, including a cocktail reception at the stunning Buda Castle. Cinte Techtextil China: 20,000 visits from 74 countries and regions

After three days of facilitating meaningful exchange for numerous applications of technical textiles and nonwovens, Cinte Techtextil China 2025 concluded on 5 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Feedback across the fairground was highly positive, especially from first-time exhibitors and buyers who valued the platform’s capability to create new opportunities both in China and overseas markets. The fair attracted nearly 20,000 visits from 74 countries and regions – a 17% increase from last year, and, as the most comprehensive edition ever in terms of product categories, visitors had much to explore. Major fringe events, such as the China International Nonwovens Conference (CINC), Econogy Tour, Sustainability Forum, and AI Panel, linked innovation and sustainability with industry demands, maximising reach and business opportunities for participants.

As Asia’s only dedicated show for the full spectrum of technical textiles and nonwovens, Cinte Techtextil China 2025 hosted over 300 global exhibitors, and welcomed a wide range of visitors, including sourcing decision-makers, textile & mechanical engineers, product developers, researchers, and more. The fair saw a significant rise in visitor pre-registrations, with international numbers increasing by over 40% compared to the previous edition. VIP buyers from across the globe attended the fair, as did 14 visitor delegations with over 250 participants. Some of the leading brands included domestic representatives from Kimberly-Clark (China), Li Auto, Li Ning, and L'Oréal (China); and international participants from Lego System (Denmark), Norafin Industries (Germany), Rockline Industries (USA), and Toyoshima & Co. Ltd (Japan).

Among the returning exhibitors, key international players included AUTEFA Solutions, Lindauer DORNIER and Rowa Group from Germany, Fil Man Made Group from Italy, Graf + Cie and Swisstulle from Switzerland, Picanol from Belgium, and more. This edition also welcomed several newcomers, partly due to the incorporation of textile chemicals and dyes into this year's product categories. Key exhibitors making their debuts included: Serel Industrie (Belgium) and Proton Products (UK) in the European Zone; Wetekam Group in the German Zone; Dupre Minerals (UK) and Michelman (USA) in the Textile Chemicals and Dyes Zone; Huamao (Xiamen), BW Advanced Materials, Shanghai Shenda, and Zhejiang Kingsafe Group from China, JCT Industries Group from Malaysia, Vietnam Geotextile from Vietnam, and more.

To support the diverse array of exhibitors and visitors onsite, Cinte Techtextil China identified specific development areas and offered relevant fringe events to facilitate meaningful interaction. The Econogy Tour and Sustainability Forum promoted the industry’s eco-transition, with the latter sparking cross-sector discussions among academia, brands, and other industry players. On the innovation front, the AI Panel and the Innovation Product Award and Presentation provided forward-looking insights from various perspectives, helping the industry reshape its future.

Other events like the CINC, themed ‘Breaking the Deadlock and Reconstruction’, offered in-depth discussions and report presentations for the nonwovens industry to navigate upcoming challenges and opportunities. To harness the promising Mobiltech trend, the fair organised a Technical Innovation Exchange Conference on Automotive Textiles followed by a tour visiting related exhibitors. Interested parties could also enjoy live-streamed tours organised for in-demand sectors such as Medtech, Mobiltech, and Protech.

The next edition of Cinte Techtextil China will be held from 1 – 3 September 2026.

Avantex Fashion Pitch: Award goes to AI-based textile quality control system

By perfecting the detection of visual defects in fabrics, this digital solution enhances customer satisfaction, optimises production processes and reduces raw material consumption. The jury also chose to award a special prize to Green Worms, an Indian micro-enterprise that has set up a local waste collection and processing system. Recycling waste creates sustainable jobs for women from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.

‘The jury members were impressed by the quality of the designs submitted by the companies selected for this edition,’ said Claudia Franz, Director of Brand Management Apparel Fabrics & Fashion at Messe Frankfurt. ‘By recognising the GoldenEye Smart Vision project and choosing to award a special prize to Green Worms, we are supporting innovative solutions that address today's major challenges,’ she added.

GoldenEye Smart Vision will benefit from a stand worth €2,800 at Avantex Paris 2026 and €1,000 offered by Messe Frankfurt France, plus €1,000 offered by Texpertise Network, the Messe Frankfurt Group's textile sector network, a one-year subscription to the VLGE creative solution (worth €30,000), one year of incubation at Foundry offered by IFA Paris (worth €4,500), a keynote speech at the Circular Textile Days event, and an article in Luxiders Magazine.

Green Worms will receive €1,000 from Texpertise Network, the Messe Frankfurt Group's textile industry network, a marketing package from Circular Textile Days, and a consultation offered by Jayne Simone Estève-Curé.

The final of the 8th edition of the Avantex Fashion Pitch competition, organised by Messe Frankfurt France, rewards the most innovative, sustainable and relevant projects for the future of fashion. Each of the eleven finalists for 2025 – Adirelounge, Ananas Fashion, CQ Studio, Delfi, Garment By, Green Worms, GoldenEye Smart Vision, Myth AI, Sequinova, Meddle, Style Shifter – had five minutes to convince the jury composed of Jayne Simone Estève-Curé, fashion and luxury expert consultant, Yoobin Jung, ventures associate sustainability at Plug and Play Tech Centre, Carol Hilsum, Investor & Tech Leader at Assembly Ventures, Claudia Frantz, Director Brand Management Messe Frankfurt, Rachel de Gooijer, Marketing Manager, Circular Textile Days.
