What does Quilt Comfort mean?
The quilt comfort is determined by the quality of the ticking
and the quality of the feather and down filling.
|
|
| |
|
1. The ticking
The ticking is the shell which contains the down filling. It is
down-proof so that down do not penetrate. Moreover it is a fabric
with good breathing properties and creates a comfortable climate
under the quilt. Top quality ticking fabrics are light in weight
and offer the best drape and therefore a better quilt comfort.
|
| |
Based on the quality of ticking and down filling
KIS® rates the quilt comfort in five categories:

|
2. The down filling
Down have a unique structure. From the down core which can hardly
be seen radiantly grow forth silken down barbs with finest filaments
imbedding large quantities of air. These quantities of air act as
an insulating layer and keep the one who is sleeping warm and comfortable
and are very light at the same time (warmth without weight).
The fine quality of down (large volume, best possible lightness
and ability to trap air) is called filling volume. The better the
quality of a down the higher the filling volume.
|
|
| |
SUPERIOR stands for top quality (best ticking and best down filling)
which ensures best drape ability. BASIC stands for ordinary quality.
