SGL Carbon: CEO Dr. Torsten Derr will not extend contract

The CEO of SGL Carbon SE, Dr. Torsten Derr, informed the Chairman of the Supervisory Board today that he will not extend his contract, which expires on May 31, 2025. Dr. Derr will continue his duties until the new CEO is appointed, at the latest until May 31, 2025.

“SGL Carbon is once again a strong and stable company whose profitable development I will continue to work on with all my strength until the last day. But even without me, my colleague on the Board of Management, Thomas Dippold, and the team will continue to develop the company successfully. The last almost four years have always been the achievement of the entire SGL team. SGL Carbon is now sailing in stable waters and my transformation work will therefore be completed shortly,” explains Dr. Torsten Derr.

“We are grateful to Dr. Derr for talking to us early on and in a spirit of trust. This will allow us to take our time in arranging his succession. SGL Carbon can look back on three successful financial years, is financially strong and relies on a broad-based management team that continues to drive forward the expansion of the business in strong growth markets. In our appreciative discussions, Dr. Derr has promised to complete all important projects with his usual commitment until the handover of the CEO position,” says Prof. Dr. Frank Richter.

The Supervisory Board will immediately begin the search for a successor to Dr. Torsten Derr.

Freudenberg showcases sustainable solutions at Techtextil 2024

Freudenberg Performance Materials (Freudenberg) is showcasing solutions for the automotive, building, apparel, filtration and packaging industries at this year’s Techtextil in Frankfurt am Main from April 23 – 26.

Sustainable nonwoven for car seats
One innovation highlight at Techtextil is a novel Polyester nonwoven material for car seat padding. Also available as a nonwoven composite with PU foam, it is not only easier for car seat manufacturers to handle during the mounting process, but also ensures better dimensional stability as well as providing soft and flexible padding. It has a minimum 25 percent recycled content, for example, by reusing nonwoven clippings and waste, and is fully recyclable. Full supply chain transparency enables customers to trace and verify the content of the nonwoven and thus ensures a responsible production process. The Freudenberg experts will also be presenting several other nonwoven solutions made of up to 80 percent recycled materials that can be used in car seat manufacturing.

Biocarrier for green roofs
Freudenberg is showcasing a sustainable carrier material for green roofs on urban buildings at the trade fair. The carrier is made from polylactide, i.e. from renewable resources. When filled with soil, it provides a strong foothold to root systems, enabling the growth of lightweight sedum blankets that can be rolled out to provide instant green roofs. These roofs not only help counter urban heat, they also improve stormwater management and regulate indoor temperatures.

From textile waste to padding
The company extended its circular thermal wadding product range with the release of comfortemp® HO 80xR circular, a wadding made from 70 percent recycled polyamide from discarded fishing nets, carpet flooring and industrial plastic. Because polyamide 6, also known as nylon, retains its performance characteristics after multiple recycling processes, the fibers can be used again and again to manufacture performance sporting apparel, leisurewear and luxury garments.

Packaging solutions with various sustainability benefits
Freudenberg is also showcasing products for sustainable packaging and filtration solutions. The long-lasting Evolon® technical packaging series is a substitute for disposable packaging used in the transport of sensitive industrial items such as automotive parts. The material is made from up to 85 percent recycled PET. A further highlight at Techtextil are Freudenberg’s fully bio-based solutions for manufacturing dessicant bags. The binder-free material based on bio-fibers is also industrially compostable.
In addition, the experts will be giving trade fair visitors an insight into Freudenberg’s filtration portfolio.

Baldwin Technology Co. will join Elmatex GmbH at Techtexil (April 23-26 in Frankfurt, Germany) to demonstrate its TexCoat™ G4 precision spray finishing system.

Baldwin Technology Co. will join Elmatex GmbH at Techtexil (April 23-26 in Frankfurt, Germany) to demonstrate its TexCoat™ G4 precision spray finishing system.

With Baldwin’s system, the chemistry is precisely distributed across the textile surface and is applied only where it is required, on one or both sides of the fabric. The non-contact technology eliminates chemistry dilution in wet-on-wet processes, allowing full control of maintaining consistent chemistry coverage rates. Plus, pad bath contamination is eliminated, and changeovers are only required when there is a change of finish chemistry.
 
Furthermore, the system offers automated speed tracking, fabric-width compensation, and real-time monitoring to track system uptime, performance and chemistry usage, as well as active care alerts.
 
In addition, the TexCoat™ G4 system can process a wide range of low-viscosity water-based chemicals, such as durable water repellents, softeners, antimicrobials, flame retardants and more. Baldwin’s technology utilizes the same chemicals used in the traditional pad bath, and no special auxiliaries are required. The recipe is adjusted by increasing the concentration and reducing the pickup by a corresponding amount, so that the same level of solids is applied.
 
Some applications, such as durable water repellents, are only applied on the face of the fabric, instead of the traditional method of saturation through dipping and squeezing. Drier fabric entering the stenter means lower drying temperatures and faster process speeds. Single-side applications also open up the opportunity to process back-coated or laminated fabrics in a single pass of the stenter, instead of two passes.

PERFORMANCE DAYS: CHT presents sustainable textile innovations

At the PERFORMANCE DAYS Functional Fabric Fair in Munich on 20 and 21 March 2024, CHT will present its latest sustainable textile technologies with a focus on dyeing and effect chemicals.

These products are used to finish textiles with special functions such as water repellency, breathability and efficient moisture transport. Significant amounts of water and energy can be saved during the dyeing and finishing process, resulting in a lower CO2 footprint.

In addition to effect chemicals, CHT will be presenting its dyeing products with a focus on the use of bio-based, biodegradable and recycled materials to support the circular economy.

Hexcel showcases new fiber HexPly® M79 Prepregs at METSTRADE 2023

Hexcel will continue to celebrate its 75th anniversary and highlight its latest developments for the Marine market at METSTRADE 2023 on November 15-17. Hexcel will showcase innovative advanced lightweight material technologies including new intermediate and high modulus fiber HexPly® M79 prepregs and present example high-performance superyacht and windship components developed by customers using Hexcel materials.

The new intermediate modulus prepreg combines the low temperature curing and simple processing of the DNV GL accredited HexPly M79 resin system with the market-leading stiffness of HexTow® IM2C fiber, creating a uniquely optimized composite material for highly loaded components. Originally developed to provide best-in-class performance for America’s Cup and IMOCA hull and deck structures, the new combination minimizes structural deformation under load in parts such as rigs, foils, and other appendages.

Both products can be manufactured with Hexcel G-Vent technology for out-of-autoclave processing, delivering a reduction in process time and cost without compromising mechanical performance.

Hexcel will also display customer products that have benefited from the performance and processing gains provided by HexPly materials. A section of a Solid Sail mast made using Bureau Veritas (BV)-approved HexPly® M9.6 prepregs will be exhibited at METS. Such masts are used for wind propulsion and, by harnessing the power of ocean winds, they reduce reliance on engines, reducing fuel usage and emissions.

Visitors to the Hexcel booth will also see a section of a radar arch part from luxury motor yacht builder Sunseeker made using HexPly® XF surfacing technology and HexPly® SuperFIT semi-pregs. The part is lighter in weight and stiffer than versions made using resin-infusion processes and de-molds with a pinhole-free surface that needs minimal preparation to be ready for painting. Sunseeker has recorded an overall reduction in process time and material costs of around 30% against traditional prepreg parts, using Hexcel composite materials.

Erneute Auszeichnung für den Globetrotter Re:Think-Store: Das Design-Konzept des innovativen Stores wurde mit dem Red Dot Design Award in der Kategorie „Brands & Communication Design“ ausgezeichnet. Die Verleihung des Designpreises fand am 3. November im Rahmen einer feierlichen Gala im Konzerthaus Berlin statt.

Erst vor wenigen Wochen war das Pionierprojekt mit dem 1. Platz beim Best Retail Cases Award in der Kategorie "Retail Store Design & Concept" ausgezeichnet worden. Nun folgt mit dem Red Dot Award eine weitere Auszeichnung des innovativen Konzepts. Red Dot zählt zu den renommiertesten Auszeichnungen für gutes Design und wird jährlich durch eine internationale Expertenjury in den Kategorien Product Design, Brands & Communication Design und Design Concept vergeben.

Mit dem Re:Think Store hat Globetrotter im Mai einen in Deutschland einmaligen Store eröffnet. Das Konzept: Die konsequente Weiternutzung bereits vorhandener und gebrauchter Materialien. Globetrotter hat bei diesem Projekt das Inventar des Vormieters Conrad Elektronik übernommen und auf kreative Art und Weise in den Ladenbau des neuen Stores integriert. Ergänzt wurde die Shop-Einrichtung durch Möbel aus dem eigenen Lagerbestand sowie durch weiteres gebrauchtes Material.

Mit der wissenschaftlichen Begleitung des Projektes durch EPEA sorgte Globetrotter darüber hinaus für maximale Transparenz: Erfasst wurden unter anderem die entstandenen und die vermiedenen CO2-Emissionen sowie die Re-use Quote im Ladenbau. Außerdem diente das Projekt als Inspiration für den neuen Circularity Passport Interior, der im September vorgestellt und erstmalig an den Bonner Re:Think Store vergeben wurde.

With a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 24, 2023 CHT USA celebrated the $ 25 million expansion at its US headquarters in Cassopolis, Michigan. More than 100 attendees came to the celebrations, among others officials from local, county and state governments, neighbors, and area business leaders, CHT employees, CTO Dr. Bernhard Hettich as representative of CHT’s Global management team, and members of the press.

In his speech, Dr. Bernhard Hettich, CTO of CHT Group, thanked the local authorities for their business-friendly policies and stated that a development towards sustainability in many areas would not be possible without CHT's silicone products: "With CHT's largest single investment outside Europe, CHT is taking a big step and doubling its silicone production capacity. We intend to use this expansion not only to support our customers in the Americas, but also to leverage the capacity for our global growth. In line with the motto "CHT first", further steps in this direction will follow."

For the Cass County site, the approximately 45,000 square feet new facility with 5 reactors and distillation units resulted in an increase in the total area of the company's site to 120,000 square feet. This will then allow sufficient space for additional reactors and downstream processes. The CHT USA site expansion has created approximately 30 highly skilled jobs in the community.

With 98 % ZDHC Level 3 auxiliaries and colorants in its portfolio CHT is supplier of choice in this ranking. On the one hand, this pays off the innovative strength of CHT's research and development, and on the other hand, it shows that CHT is the preferred partner for the sustainable chemical treatment of certifiable brand products.

CHT and textile standards
In this regard, CHT has already been active as a ZDHC Contributor since 2019 with a comprehensive range of more than 2200 certified products. Of these, 70 % are textile auxiliaries and 30 % are dyes in the portfolio that are certified to Level 3 ZDHC, bluesign® or C2C standards.
CHT supports its customers and business partners and invests in compliance and regulatory measures. Especially in the textile sector, the group of companies cooperates with all renowned standards and labels. Among others bluesign®, C2C or GOTS. Especially in the context of the ZDHC program, CHT is one of the global leaders. More than 2200 products certified by CHT currently reach LEVEL 3, the highest possible level for safe textile chemistry. It is particularly noteworthy that this includes textile auxiliaries (70 %) as well as dyes and pigments (30 %).

CHT Group is involved in several ZDHC task teams and is also a member of the ZDHC internal Chemical Industry Advisory Group (CIAG).

The AZL team, renowned for its high reputation in providing market and technology insights as well as developing component and production concepts in the format of Joint Partner Projects seeks for companies along the whole composite value chain interested in further developing their application know how in this economically highly relevant field.

The project will provide an in depth exploration of market insights, regulatory standards, and intellectual property landscapes. Beyond this, there is a dedicated focus on staying updated with state of the art and advancements in design, materials, and man ufacturing techniques.

An integral component of the project involves the creation of reference designs by AZL´s engineering team. The reference designs will encompass a variety of pressure vessel configurations and will consider a diverse range of materials and production concep ts.

With the scheduled project start in October 2023, and a project timeline of approximately nine months, AZL encourages companies active across the composite value chain to participate. ZwissTex integrates Kornit Technology in Production

Germany-based ZwissTex is a leading manufacturer of textiles with over 150 years of experience, creating innovative and sustainable textile solutions for the automotive and apparel industries. The company also operates in Mexico, to specifically serve the automotive sector across North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) markets. Via OEMs, ZwissTex supplies German automakers including Volkswagen Auto Group, BMW, and Mercedes, as well as American manufacturers in select cases.

Unlike other Kornit customers, ZwissTex had no previous experience printing their own materials, and saw Kornit’s sustainable, single-step, Presto MAX S production system as an effective means of increasing their product capabilities.

Unlike other Kornit customers, ZwissTex had no previous experience printing their own materials, and saw Kornit’s sustainable, single-step, Presto MAX S production system as an effective means of increasing their product capabilities.

“Our textiles were not classically printed in the past, and we did not produce any classical textiles in fashion, which is why we didn’t have any printing experience internally,” said Ralph Moldan, Technical Specialist at ZwissTex, as the system was being installed in their facility. “The only option was to find a system that would enable us to implement the areas in which we are active on the market easily and quickly, without requiring a lot of printing experience.”

One benefit of integrating Kornit technology into the ZwissTex production ecosystem: applying ink only where it is needed and seen, rather than to the full surface of each material. This translates to both reducing the company’s carbon footprint, and minimizing materials waste for a more cost-effective operation.

Prior to making the decision to invest in Kornit, ZwissTex conducted a series of tests and consultations, evaluating possible applications for different materials and engaging with their own key clients to ensure these finished products would meet their rigorous quality and durability standards. This included presenting Kornit-decorated samples at the Techtextil 2022 exhibition in Frankfurt.

Moldan found Kornit’s production capabilities opened new doors to customization of interior areas, a market that continues to grow. He anticipates this technology will create new opportunities with customers they could not reach previously, including new opportunities in sectors such as motor homes, airlines, and aircraft outfitters.

"Climate neutrality" and comprehensive social responsibility  
In the implementation of the sustainability strategy of the CHT Group, the field of action "climate neutrality" takes a central role. The path to climate neutrality by 2045 is illustrated in the report as part of the strategic goal.

Combining FULGAR’s circular economy ready yarns with CHT’s resource-saving dyeing techniques significantly reduces the usage of natural resources and leads to lower environmental impact and ultimately a lower carbon footprint. The combined process needs less water, uses less energy, and saves time while meeting the color fastness standards for finished textile products.

The combination of 100 % biobased polyamide EVO® by FULGAR yarns with CHT sustainable dyeing application can save water up to 64 %, energy use up to 50 % and process time up to 50 %, when compared to standard dyeing processes. Sustainable dyeing of EVO® is promoted using CHT’s soy-based dyeing auxiliary SARABID TS 300. SARABID TS 300 has accredited a C2C Certified Material Health Certificate at Gold level and USDA Certified Biobased Product Certification.

BEZAKTIV ONE: New Reactive dyes range by CHT

BEZAKTIV ONE covers a broad color spectrum with tinctorial very strong dyes. This enables a cost-efficient dye process with significantly less dye and salt. The excellent wash-off behavior allows short rinse cycles at lower temperatures and therefore offers further ecological and economic advantages. The dyes are particularly suitable for durable textiles due to their good multiple wash fastness.

Cellulosic fibers are often dyed with reactive dyes, as these are commercially available in a wide range of colors that result in dyeings with high wash fastness. However, reactive dyeings require a lot of water due to the necessary rinsing processes. Due to increased ecological requirements, the development of energy and water saving processes is not just a trend, but rather a core prerequisite for new dyes.

A minimal number of rinsing baths and generally lower temperatures for dye exhaust, rinsing and soaping contribute to an overall efficient water and energy saving dyeing processes.

BEZAKTIV ONE dyes can be dyed, rinsed and soaped between 40 and 60 °C. Therefore, the BEZAKTIV ONE exhaust dyeing process is significantly shorter compared to conventional reactive dyeing processes, where temperatures between 60 and 98 °C are required. This advantage means savings in process time and higher productivity for the textile dyer.

The advantages become particularly clear when dyeing medium to dark shades with the BEZAKTIV ONE process. Due to the high fixation level in combination with good color build-up dark shades can be matched with lower dye concentrations of BEZAKTIV ONE than with conventional bifunctional reactive dyes. The addition of the auxiliary COTOBLANC SEL in the second soap bath has an additional positive effect, so that a washing process with low water and energy consumption generates excellent wet fastness properties on the textile.

Durch die Zugabe des Hilfsmittels COTOBLANC SEL im zweiten Seifbad ergibt sich ein zusätzlicher positiver Effekt, so dass ein Waschprozess mit geringem Wasser- und Energieaufwand zu hervorragenden Nassechtheiten auf dem Textil führt.

SGL Carbon SE: Annual General Meeting 2023

The shareholders of SGL Carbon SE approved all agenda items at the Annual General Meeting on May 9, 2023. The Annual General Meeting, which was held virtually, was attended by up to 114 electronically connected shareholders who, together with the postal votes submitted, represented 64.64% of the share capital.

CEO Dr. Torsten Derr began his speech with a review of SGL Carbon's two-year transformation phase. "In two years, we have been able to increase our sales by 23.5% and adjusted EBITDA by as much as 86.2%. In parallel, we reduced our debt by 40.4%," Dr. Derr elaborated. He also reported on the past financial year and the expectations for the future economic development of the company. In doing so, he also addressed SGL Carbon's growth markets in detail. "Over the past two years, we have made SGL fit for the future. With our products, we serve industries that significantly reflect the trends for the future: climate-friendly mobility, renewable energies and digitalization," he explained.

After 14 years on the Supervisory Board of SGL Carbon, this was Dr. h.c. Susanne Klatten's last Annual General Meeting as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board. Klatten will remain associated with SGL Carbon through SKion GmbH.

As proposed, the Annual General Meeting elected Prof. Dr. Frank Richter as a shareholder representative on the Supervisory Board to succeed Dr. h.c. Susanne Klatten. Following the Annual General Meeting, the constituent meeting of the Supervisory Board elected Prof. Dr. Richter as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Prof. Dr. Richter is Managing Director of SKion GmbH, Bad Homburg, which holds a stake of approximately 28.55% in SGL Carbon SE. Furthermore, Ingeborg Neumann, Managing Partner of Peppermint Holding GmbH, Berlin, was elected to the Supervisory Board of SGL Carbon SE for a further term of office.

CIRCONOMY® Hubs: Stoffkreisläufe bei Carbon Technologies schließen

Um nachhaltige Produktion, nachhaltigen Konsum und zirkuläres Wirtschaften in der Praxis umzusetzen, sind sowohl systemische als auch technische Lösungen gefragt. Diese Lösungen sollen nach einer Idee der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in sogenannten CIRCONOMY® Hubs entstehen. Dahinter verbergen sich deutschlandweite Netzwerke, die Partner aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Verbänden und Gesellschaft zu einem bestimmten Schwerpunkt zusammenbringen. Zwei dieser Netzwerke haben ihre Arbeit bereits aufgenommen: die Hubs »Stoffkreisläufe im Bausektor« sowie »Circular Carbon Technologies CCT«.

Um nachhaltige Produktion, nachhaltigen Konsum und zirkuläres Wirtschaften in der Praxis umzusetzen, sind sowohl systemische als auch technische Lösungen gefragt. Diese Lösungen sollen nach einer Idee der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in sogenannten CIRCONOMY® Hubs entstehen. Dahinter verbergen sich deutschlandweite Netzwerke, die Partner aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Verbänden und Gesellschaft zu einem bestimmten Schwerpunkt zusammenbringen. »In Deutschland gibt es momentan keine übergeordnete Infrastruktur, Einrichtung oder Stelle, die Veränderungsprojekte hin zum zirkulären Wirtschaften koordiniert«, erläutert Projektleiter Dr. Hartmut Pflaum aus dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Umwelt-, Sicherheits- und Energietechnik UMSICHT den Hintergrund der CIRCONOMY®-Initiative. »Stattdessen existieren viele, zum Teil kleine Initiativen, die sich der Circular Economy verschrieben haben. Die sind für sich genommen alle gut, aber untereinander wenig bis gar nicht vernetzt. Das führt dazu, dass viele von ihnen bei null anfangen und nicht voneinander lernen können. Dieses Defizit wollen wir mit den CIRCONOMY®-Hubs ausgleichen«, betont der Fraunhofer-Wissenschaftler.

Idealerweise widmet sich jeder Hub einem Themenschwerpunkt und bringt zirkuläres Wirtschaften in diesem Bereich voran. Und zwar indem passende Partner aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Verbänden und Gesellschaft zielgerichtet und koordiniert zusammenarbeiten. Den Rahmen für diese transferorientierten Kooperationen bildet die Marke CIRCONOMY®. Darunter bündelt die Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Lösungen, Kapazitäten und Kompetenzen für das zirkuläre Wirtschaften. »Die Marke steht für gemeinsame Werte, Strategien, Zielbilder und vor allem Innovationsprojekte, welche die große Mission Transformation zum zirkulären Wirtschaften in die Praxis führen«, so Hartmut Pflaum.

CIRCONOMY® Hub »Circular Carbon Technologies CCT«
Der CIRCONOMY® Hub unter dem Titel »Circular Carbon Technologies CCT« wurde von den Fraunhofer-Instituten UMSICHT in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, IGB in Straubing sowie IWKS in Alzenau ins Leben gerufen. Im Fokus steht hier die Kopplung von Energie- und Rohstoffprozessen – beispielsweise zur Erschließung nicht-fossiler Kohlenstoffquellen, zur Kreislaufführung und Bindung von Kohlenstoff in Produkten sowie zur Integration dieser Technologien in Energie-/ Wirtschaftskreisläufe.

Der Hub für »Circular Carbon Technologies« hat vom Bayerischen Wirtschaftsministerium eine Anschubfinanzierung in Höhe von 500.000 € für die Konzeptionsphase und zwei wissenschaftliche Vorprojekte erhalten. Bayerns Wirtschaftsstaatssekretär Roland Weigert sagte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg: »Um dem Klimawandel entgegenzuwirken, sind eine Dekarbonisierung der Energieerzeugung und eine Defossilierung des Rohstoffsektors erforderlich. Beides kann nur über die Transformation von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft hin zu zirkulären Wertschöpfungssystemen und mit Hilfe innovativer Technologien gelingen. Deshalb fördern wir die zukunftsweisende Forschungsinitiative der Institute Fraunhofer UMSICHT, IWKS und IGB. Unsere Unterstützung ist ein erster Schritt, um den Projektpartnern eine intensivere Zusammenarbeit zu ermöglichen.«

Matthias Franke vom Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Institutsteil Sulzbach-Rosenberg, ergänzt: »Im CIRCONOMY® Hub wollen wir gemeinsam mit der Industrie Klima- und Kohlenstoff-Management-Technologien in die Anwendung bringen. Die CHT Group, a worldwide company for chemical specialties, has built a new production facility in Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ), Narayanganj which was inaugurated on May 9th, 2023.

Sustainability is anchored at CHT Group and plays an important role in Bangladesh, too. The new facility of the CHT Group in Bangladesh contributes to sustainability in more ways: The roofs of two buildings are fully covered with solar photovoltaic modules. For a proper use of natural light all the other buildings have periphery glass and transparent roofs There are additionally a ground water tank to harvest rainwater as well as a biological effluent treatment plant to reuse treated water as process water in the plant.

XORELLA at ITMA 2023

At ITMA 2023, XORELLA, a specialist in steam setting and conditioning equipment for yarns and fabrics, will launch XO AUTOMATION for the double door XO SELECT conditioning machine series, and XO SOLID, a new machine series to complement XO SMART, XO TREND and XO SELECT machines.

XO AUTOMATION
The new XO AUTOMATION system consists of roller conveyor systems for loading and unloading two-door XO Select conditioning machines. Additional pallet wrapping machine with a turntable, weighting station, label printer, safety fence and security system can complete the system. The XO Select controller and automation system can handle and store individual customer-specific material and packing programmes.  

XO SELECT and XO AUTOMATION are designed for yarn steaming on multiple pallet dimensions and heights up to 2,650mm. The linear material flow passing conveyor and steaming machine avoids any mix between steamed and un-steamed materials. XO AUTOMATION fills the gap between the XO automated moving platform and the fully automated transport system – from spinning hall to warehouse.

At ITMA 2023, XORELLA, a specialist in steam setting and conditioning equipment for yarns and fabrics, will launch XO AUTOMATION for the double door XO SELECT conditioning machine series, and XO SOLID, a new machine series to complement XO SMART, XO TREND and XO SELECT machines.

XO AUTOMATION
The new XO AUTOMATION system consists of roller conveyor systems for loading and unloading two-door XO Select conditioning machines. Additional pallet wrapping machine with a turntable, weighting station, label printer, safety fence and security system can complete the system. The XO Select controller and automation system can handle and store individual customer-specific material and packing programmes.

XO SOLID
The new cubical XO SOLID combines a high loading space of 1,800mm x 1,700mm x 4, 000mm (H x W x L) through double row pin trolleys or pallets for easy manual loading of six units on floor level without a pit or platform. XO SOLID is therefore designed for installations on upper floor levels. The new frame design combines all necessary components factory preinstalled on a single frame, for easy ‘plug and play’ installation at the customer site. Additional smaller steamer dimensions for two and four loading units are also at the planning stage.

The new XO SOLID incorporates all the renowned features of XORELLA machines based on the long term experience in high temperature dyeing vessel production of FONG’s, including:

  • A Siemens controller with OPC UA interface and XO data tool for batch storage.
  • A XO EcoPac waterless claw pump or two-stage water ring vacuum pump.
  • A high energy efficient accumulator for steam, electric and combined heating.
  • Vessel and piping in world-class stainless steel.
  • European key components such as pumps, heating elements, valves and sensors
