According to Kornit Digital’s Impact and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, 30 percent of textile production is overproduction, while 95 percent of water waste is created as companies globally look towards more sustainable futures with customized, creative, and real-time offerings. Using proprietary streamlined, eco-friendly digital production technologies, Kornit Digital is transforming the fashion industry with more efficient and sustainable processes. According to the same report, by 2026, the Company’s systems will use up to 95 percent less water, 94 percent less energy and produce 83 percent less greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to highlighting production capabilities that minimize carbon footprint, the Fashtech Innovation Centre serves as a prototype for brands and fulfillers seeking to mitigate logistical complexities, time-to-market, and supply chain risks by bringing production nearer to the end consumer. Consolidating the process into a single location helps maintain full visibility and control of operations and products. More than ever, the Berliners‘ passion for people and fashion, but also for business and trading, is at the heart of all their events. And where better to combine all this than in the power metropolis of Frankfurt am Main.

To achieve this goal, the PREMIUM GROUP teams have also given the proven successful formats PREMIUM and SEEK a new coat of paint. And PREMIUM, which is already entering its 19th year in January, is also showing a new side in Frankfurt. Instead of being spread out like in Station-Berlin, in Frankfurt all brands show their collections in one big hall. „We are so excited to finally unite all exhibitors in one hall. This way we create a universe with many different worlds - colorful and exciting,“ says Wiebus. „We are in close exchange with all the protagonists throughout the year and continue to develop the concepts together. The entire industry is positive about coming together in Frankfurt. Everyone is keen to experience and create something completely new! We offer the framework for this - that is our strength.“

And the Berliners have another surprise in store for the Frankfurt debut: With THE GROUND, they are organizing a large fashion festival for young end consumers for the first time. Responsible for the event concept, in addition to Tillmann, Arntz and the PREMIUM GROUP- team, is B2C expert Kai Zollhöfer, who already made the Bread & Butter by Zalando a crowd puller. “THE GROUND is a B2C festival aimed at a young, purpose-driven generation. This new generation has a strong stance on current social and environmental challenges and expects brands to reflect them. The overriding themes at THE GROUND are therefore sustainability, diversity and equality”, said Zollhöfer.

The 3-day event offers brands the opportunity to interactively exhibit purpose-driven stories and products. In addition to the thematic focus on fashion, brands from the fields of wellbeing, beauty, mobility and technology will also present innovative products and solutions.

By the time the DushaGreya brand begun, Natalia and her like-minded associate and father, Alexander Kordovatov, already had experience in the field of sublimation printing and knew that printing on fabric for subsequent tailoring would be carried out using this technology. However, no third-party performers could be found that would meet the quality and deadline requirements of the brand, so they decided to purchase new equipment and start printing at their own site. 

Alexander says. “We also found out that Smart-T (Mimaki's distributor in Russia), the supplier of this equipment in Moscow, is highly rated by the industry community and customers due to its professional expertise, first-line service support, and highly qualified engineers.” At the end of 2019, Smart-T installed the highly anticipated Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct textile printer at the DushaGreya facility. Today it prints fabrics for dresses, skirts, T-shirts, fleeces, jumpers, hoodies, trench coats, and other midwear.

"Mimaki Tx300P-1800 is the only printer in the Mimaki line that allows us to print on natural fabrics without pre-processing,” Alexander comments. “This gives us the ability to produce short, original print runs at no extra cost, which is vital in achieving our goals. The TP400 pigment inks used in this printer have an expanded colour gamut, so the prints are always bright and saturated.”

And the Frankfurt Fashion SDG Summit by CFC is set to become the leading international conference for sustainability in the fashion world. The future of fashion has begun – and its key players will be coming together in Frankfurt am Main from 5-9 July 2021.

Joining forces to improve the fashion industry: Frankfurt Fashion Week is positioning itself as the host of the future of fashion and actively driving forward the transformation towards a future-oriented, more sustainable fashion and textile industry. All decision-makers looking to instigate this change will be coming together in Frankfurt am Main from 5-9 July 2021. The initiators of Frankfurt Fashion Week – Messe Frankfurt and the Premium Group – have achieved a real coup: Conscious Fashion Campaign, working in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships, will be the presenting partner. Messe Frankfurt will build on its collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and establish Frankfurt Fashion week as the platform on which to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and help guide the fashion industry into the 'Decade of Action'.
 
“Frankfurt will play host to the whole world. We are seeing a very positive response indeed,” confirmed Peter Feldmann, Senior Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main, at today’s digital press conference, before going on to say: “The fact that the initiators are able to rethink the concept of a Fashion Week in such a way is extremely impressive and proves that the fashion industry is correctly interpreting the signs of the present and future. The time has come for value creation and values to be reconciled. Consistent alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals is an important step in this direction.”
 
“Frankfurt Fashion Week aims to play a crucial role in finding solutions for macrosocial challenges and supporting the goals of international politics such as the European Green Deal. The fashion and textile industries are also expected to be climate-neutral by 2050. If we want to achieve this, we all need to pull together. Frankfurt Fashion Week is inviting all initiators and supporters of sustainable concepts and congresses or shows dedicated to sustainability to meet in Frankfurt, partake in discussions and make tangible decisions for the greater good. We will connect the most relevant players and pave the way for a future-proof fashion and textile industry,” says Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt.
 
“Given its global reach, the fashion industry is uniquely positioned to collaborate and engage on the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular on climate action and responsible production and consumption,” said Annemarie Hou, Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships. “Frankfurt Fashion Week and the Summit will serve as an important platform for education and engagement of the fashion and textile industry in the Decade of Action,” emphasised Ms Hou.
 
The aim of Frankfurt Fashion Week is for all exhibitors, participants and partners to align with the Sustainable Development Goals by 2023. The SDGs will also be incorporated into all formats of Frankfurt Fashion Week. This will help to make the UN’s sustainability goals visible and tangible for the Fashion Week audience, therefore bringing its claim, goals and specific proposals for implementation to an international opinion-forming fashion and lifestyle community. During a one-day Frankfurt Fashion SDG Summit presented by Conscious Fashion Campaign, topics like gender equality, clean water, climate protection, social justice and their significance for a forward-looking fashion industry will be examined in greater depth. Another point on the sustainability agenda: Frankfurt Fashion Week is launching a Sustainability Award for outstanding, innovative, sustainable design, alongside other categories with a global appeal for the fashion and textile industry.
 
"We are committed to setting the wheels of transformation in motion. Not only does the overall mindset have to fundamentally change; the entire industry also needs to have the courage to be transparent and honest. It’s important to see values and value creation as opportunities rather than contentious. We are doing what we do best: connecting the relevant players at all levels. With its ecosystem, Frankfurt Fashion Week will become the enabler. We are creating a platform that will orchestrate industry-wide change. With this as our inspiration, we are also developing our tradeshow formats from a ‘marketplace of products’ to a ‘marketplace of purpose and ideas’,” explains Anita Tillmann, Managing Partner of the Premium Group.
 
A new start in Frankfurt: In summer 2021 the entire fashion industry will be coming to the metropolis on the Main river to inform themselves, be inspired, discuss, negotiate and celebrate. “There’s a huge need to finally meet in person again, to exchange ideas and be inspired. At the same time, digital tools and formats have become an integral part of the fashion industry,” says Markus Frank, Head of the City of Frankfurt’s Department of Economic Affairs and therefore also responsible for its creative industry. “To implement such a future-oriented, all-encompassing overall concept, Frankfurt’s business and creative scenes offer an almost unique concentration of different expertise with its internationally networked agencies, universities and museums. The city’s multifaceted, high-end club, bar and restaurant scene, diverse hotel industry and internationally renowned retail landscape will become the stage for this. This network will be a key factor in the successful implementation of Frankfurt Fashion Week and the way in which it will expand into the public space as a cultural and social happening.”
 
A number of major publishing houses are also showing their commitment to the new Fashion Week in Frankfurt with conferences, events and awards: Textilwirtschaft, the leading professional fashion journal by the Deutscher Fachverlag publishing house, is moving its traditional meeting of the industry’s top decision-makers – the TW Forum, the presentation of the renowned Forum Award, as well as its subsequent conference – from Heidelberg to Frankfurt’s Palmengarten botanical gardens, and will therefore be kicking off Frankfurt Fashion Week on Sunday evening and Monday morning. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung will be hosting its traditional fashion party for the first time in Frankfurt and publishing a special edition of its FAZ Magazin on Frankfurt Fashion Week. And the ZEIT publishing group is holding its ‘UNLOCK Style by ZEITmagazin’ conference, which was established in 2014, and the ZEITmagazin Fashion Week party in Frankfurt for the first time and will dedicate the whole new issue of ZEITmagazin Frankfurt to Frankfurt Fashion Week. Condé Nast will also be involved in next summer’s Frankfurt Fashion Week with an exclusive event by GQ. And the Burda publishing house will also be represented with various event formats from its lifestyle and fashion brands.There will also be talks with SHINE  Conventions, the organiser of GLOW, about what a mutual collaboration could look like.
 
Frankfurt Fashion Week is also delighted to have the Fashion Council Germany (FCG) on board.  The FCG is theinstitution when it comes to German fashion design. It promotes designers, is committed to gaining more political relevance and strengthens the international visibility and awareness of German fashion. At Frankfurt Fashion Week, the FCG will contribute selected formats, such as its already established Fireside Chat, and a future-oriented accelerator format to support German designers.
 
“What really impresses me about Fashion Week is the whole networking aspect: the creative industries will meet the financial world and sustainability is the common denominator. The Green Finance Cluster is another project that we could link with Frankfurt Fashion Week in the future. This will provide new inspiration in the fashion industry, which will certainly extend way beyond its own horizon of Frankfurt and Hesse. After a very difficult year for the trade fair industry, the concept is an encouraging breath of fresh air,” sums up Tarek Al-Wazir, Hesse’s Minister of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development and Deputy Minister-President of the state of Hessen.

Der Modeschöpfer Kenzo Takada ist tot. Er starb im Alter von 81 Jahren in Neuilly bei Paris an den Folgen einer Covid-19-Erkrankung, wie die französische Nachrichtenagentur AFP am Sonntag unter Berufung auf einen Kenzo-Sprecher berichtete. Takada stammte aus Japan, machte aber fast seine gesamte Designer-Karriere in der glamourösen Modemetropole Paris. Sein Vorname wurde dabei zu einer weltweit bekannten Marke.

«Kenzo Takada ist am Sonntag, 4. Oktober, im Amerikanischen Krankenhaus von Neuilly-sur-Seine an den Folgen von Covid-19 gestorben», zitierte die Agentur eine Erklärung des Sprechers. «Was für ein Gestalter!», schrieb die Pariser Bürgermeisterin Anne Hidalgo auf Twitter. Kenzo habe der Farbe und dem Licht Platz in der Mode gegeben. «Paris trauert heute um einen seiner Söhne», so die Sozialistin.

Der Designer verkaufte seine Marke schon 1993 an den französischen Luxuskonzern LVMH des Milliardärs Bernard Arnault. 1999 zog der Modeschöpfer sich endgültig zurück. Zehn Jahre später ließ er seine Kunstsammlung mit etwa 1300 Stücken für knapp zwei Millionen Euro versteigern.

Kenzo schuf sein Modereich quasi aus dem Nichts. Als 25-Jähriger war er Mitte der 1960-er Jahre nach Frankreich gekommen. Er landete damals mit einem Schiff in der südfranzösischen Hafenstadt Marseille und reiste dann nach Paris weiter. Der Absolvent der renommierten Bunka-Gakuen-Modeschule in Tokio dachte zunächst an einen begrenzten Aufenthalt in der Metropole - und blieb für immer.

Kenzo war nicht der einzige Ausländer in der Pariser Modewelt. Aus aus Hamburg kam Karl Lagerfeld, der an der Seine zum «Kaiser Karl» aufstieg und im Februar 2019 starb. Kenzo galt als der erste Japaner, der sich in der knallharten Pariser Branche einen großen Namen machte.

Seine erste Kollektion gestaltete er vor 50 Jahren, im Jahr 1970. In einer historischen Ladengalerie im Herzen von Paris führte er damals die Boutique mit dem Namen «Jungle Japonaise». 1976 zog er in größere Räume an der unweit gelegenen Place des Victoires um und gründete die Marke mit seinem Vornamen. 1983 legte sich Kenzo ein Standbein in der Herrenmode zu. 1988 folgte das Herrenparfüm «Kenzo».

Der Modeschöpfer wurde am 27. Februar 1939 Himeji in der Region von Osaka geboren. Seine Karriere begann er als Stylist in einer Kaufhauskette in Tokio.

Designers Kotryna Adomaityte and Isabel Hambly from Nottingham Trent University were 2 of the 9 winners of the ISKO I-SKOOL™ 7 Awards, announced in a phygital ceremony held on July 22. The two students were invited to showcase their winning creations at GFF. Kotryna, winner of the ISKO I-SKOOL™ PERICOLO Award by Cadica Group, impressed the audience with her “Wild West Denim” look to London at the GFF Showroom.

Isabel Hambly, winner of the ISKO I-SKOOL™ Best Marketable Product, stole the show with her “Women at war” outfit which was displayed at the Catwalk Show, live-streamed from Samsung KX on September 22. That two of ISKO I-SKOOL™ 7 winners and finalists were part of this important event is proof of the significant role the contest – developed and supported by ISKO – plays in nurturing and championing talent and creativity. This edition’s main concept was world’s citizenship, with the Creative Theme “North, East, South, West – connected by one planet”. The twenty shortlisted finalists were asked to dig into their roots and to approach different cultures, defining and tracking down the geography of the world connecting them through responsibility. In addition to exploring the planet both locally and globally, they were also required to take into account the product life cycle of their outfits – featuring a 5-pocket jeans to interpret their view on the “local” concept and two Denim Show Pieces to reflect their worldwide influences and topics of interest. These were made with top ISKO™ denim fabrics, meeting the designers’ needs and providing a strong sustainable ingredient.

“We are really proud that two of our winners made it to GFF, with which we have many values in common – it marks another important step in their journey” said ISKO Senior Executive ISKO I-SKOOL™ Project Irem Orhun. “All of this goes to show how ISKO I-SKOOL™ plays a fundamental role in providing the foundation to enter the industry more aware of your skills and capabilities.”

Studierende der Hochschule Niederrhein beeindrucken mit textilen Kreationen auf dem Bundespresseball

Berlin/Mönchengladbach - Großer Auftritt für Studierende des Fachbereichs Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik der Hochschule Niederrhein: Gestern Abend durften sie auf dem Bundespresseball exklusiv ihre eigenen Outfits zeigen. Acht Studentinnen und ein Student führten ihre Kreationen zum Thema Wandel vor. Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier, der traditionell den Ball eröffnet, fand am Abend Zeit für ein Gespräch mit den Studentinnen.

Berlin/Mönchengladbach - Großer Auftritt für Studierende des Fachbereichs Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik der Hochschule Niederrhein: Gestern Abend durften sie auf dem Bundespresseball exklusiv ihre eigenen Outfits zeigen. Acht Studentinnen und ein Student führten ihre Kreationen zum Thema Wandel vor. Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier, der traditionell den Ball eröffnet, fand am Abend Zeit für ein Gespräch mit den Studentinnen.

Weiter Outfits wurden unter anderem von Ute Welty, Deutschlandfunk-Moderatorin und Vorstandsmitglied der Bundespressekonferenz getragen. Sie durfte das Siegerkleid aus dem hochschulinternen Wettbewerb tragen – das Kleid „Metamorphose“, das auf den Technologiewandel in der Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie hinweist. „Die digital strukturierten Flächen des Kleides erlauben eine Adaption an die Bewegungen der Trägerin und bringen durch textile Multicoloreffekte und Farbspiele den Wandel zum Ausdruck“, sagt Marie Kuehl, die das Kleid zusammen mit Michelle Lemper entworfen hat.
Nadja Meister, Organisationsleiterin des Bundespresseballs, trug den Blazer Liberté Ègalité Sexualitè, der von Leona Hülser als Unisex-Variante des „Machtsakkos“ entwickelt wurde, bereits auf der Pressekonferenz. „Der Blazer symbolisiert die Individualität eines jeden Menschen und den Wunsch nach Akzeptanz und Toleranz. Gleichzeitig fordert das Design den Wandel der Rollenbilder“, sagt die Studentin dazu.

„Unsere Studierenden haben gezeigt, dass innovative Technologien einen ökosozialen Fortschritt verbunden mit einem hohen Maß an Ästhetik in der Textil- und Bekleidungswirtschaft ermöglichen“, sagte Professorin Dr. Maike Rabe, Leiterin des Forschungsinstituts für Textil und Bekleidung, die ebenfalls in Berlin dabei war.

Sie verwies bei ihrem Statement gegenüber der Hauptstadtpresse im Vorfeld des Balls auf die technischen Chancen der Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie durch Digitalisierung. „Der besondere Reiz der Kleider liegt darüber hinaus in den Geschichten über den gerade stattfindenden Wandel oder dringend erforderliches Umdenken, die sie phantasievoll erzählen.“

So fanden in den Kreationen sämtliche Megathemen der Gegenwart Ausdruck: der Strukturwandel in NRW, Gleichberechtigung, Hochwasser in Venedig, die Verschmutzung der Weltmeere und das Artensterben. Letzteres wurde in dem Kleid MEERwert von Julia Scheele symbolisiert, das schon am Mittwoch bei der Pressekonferenz gezeigt wurde.

Dekan Professor Dr. Lutz Vossebein, dessen Frau beim Ball ebenfalls ein von einer Studentin entwickeltes Kleid trug, war ebenfalls angetan von den studentischen Arbeiten: „Ich glaube, dies ist der beste Beweis, dass wir den Wandel bereits eingeleitet haben und Nachhaltigkeit heute schon umsetzbar ist.“

Together with creative agencies Karl Anders and Haebmau, the SEEK team has been working for weeks on the brand’s new branding. The result: a visual concept with a strong message.

“SEEK stands for strength and business just as much as for communality and good vibes! ‘Get Along’ articulates a feeling of agreement, of moving forward and getting to grips with things. We all want to shape a positive future for our industry – as partners and by joining forces.”, explains Fashion Director Maren Wiebus.

CREATIVE CONNECTION: Karl Anders and Haebmau
 
The Hamburg-based agency Karl Anders, which was established by Claudia Fischer-Appelt and Lars Kreyenhagen, was commissioned to come up with the creative concept and design language for the logo and campaign.

“With the new look we are entering a new era for SEEK as a brand. Lots of brands have chosen a design using Helvetica in recent years,” says Claudia Fischer-Appelt, Creative Director at Karl Anders. “We are now signalling a clear shift in another direction. Confident, bold and independent. With the logo we are inviting the viewer to play with the linear layout in their head; we are breaking viewing habits, making a statement and revving things up a gear. SEEK, there it is.”
 
The artwork is the result of a process of in-depth debate with the SEEK brand that took place over several weeks both within the team and also with the support of lifestyle agency Haebmau. Workshops, research and analyses ultimately led to a new, strong brand identity. SEEK is focussed on both established and new players and stands for the WE.

“I have known SEEK since it was in its infancy, so to me it was always like a little brother of the large, successful PREMIUM. Quirky and different, always interesting but somehow not quite so imposing,” says Markus Bublitz, Executive Creative Director at Haebmau. “SEEK today is more grown-up, confident and sharper. Thanks to its position in the market, which it has conquered over the years, it no longer needs to please everyone but can afford to be controversial. This can offer space for new, creative ideas.”

SEEK is edgy, clean-cut and unpolished.

We are all about statement design, new classics, denim and sportswear. SEEK is the trade show event for the fashion community. SEEK knows who calls the shots; it boosts sales and is the place for the next generation of decision-makers to get together. Unlike all the others, SEEK is unconventional and the antidote to boring.

Mönchengladbach - Unter dem Motto „Wandel“ präsentieren Studierende des Fachbereiches Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik der Hochschule Niederrhein ihre Kreationen auf dem Bundespresseball. Am 29. November zeigen sie acht Kleider im geschichtsträchtigen Hotel Adlon in Berlin. Das Adlon ist jährlicher glamouröser Treffpunkt für über 2.300 Gäste aus Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur und Medien. Traditionsgemäß tanzt der Bundespräsident den Eröffnungswalzer des Balls.

Dass die Studierenden der Hochschule Niederrhein auf dieser national beachteten Bühne ihre Kleider präsentieren dürfen, verdanken sie einer überzeugenden Performance bei der PolitFashion Night Anfang Juni dieses Jahres, ebenfalls in Berlin. Damals beeindruckte der Fachbereich Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik mit seiner Fashion-Show NRW-Ministerpräsident Armin Laschet, Vertreter der Bundespresseball GmbH und einen der diesjährigen Partner des Balls, den Gesamtverband textil+mode. Die Kleider werden von verschiedenen Ballteilnehmerinnen getragen.

Um mit kreativen Interpretationen des diesjährigen Ballmottos „Wandel“ auftreten zu können, wurde ein interner Hochschulwettbewerb initiiert, aus dem 16 Entwürfe ausgewählt wurden. Während der Semesterferien entstanden junge und frische Abendkleider, die Statements setzen: Vom Strukturwandel in NRW, über den Klimawandel bis hin zur Metamorphose von Insekten sind nun Styles zu sehen, die mittels moderner nachhaltiger Verfahren wie Lasertechnologie, 3D-Strickerei oder Digitaldruck erzeugt wurden.

Die Jury war neben Professorinnen und Professoren sowie Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern des Fachbereichs hochkarätig besetzt mit Petra Diroll (Leiterin Politik und Kommunikation, Gesamtverband textil+mode), Nadja Meister (Leiterin Organisation, Bundespresseball GmbH), Ute Welty (Mitglied des Vorstands, Bundespressekonferenz), Couturier Carlo Jösch aus Köln sowie der langjährigen Designverantwortlichen bei Marc Cain, Karin Veit. Das Votum fiel Ende September. „Wir hatten die Qual der Wahl, die besten Styles für Berlin auszuwählen. Das war keine leichte Aufgabe, denn die Qualität aller eingereichten Roben zeugt von der Kompetenz der Teilnehmerinnen“, so Nadja Meister.

Hochschule Niederrhein: Summer School für Textilstudierende

Mönchengladbach. Ob digitale Produktentwicklung, Transparenz in der Lieferkette oder Smart Textiles – vom 23. bis 25. September beschäftigen sich 120 Textil-Studierende und Auszubildende der Textilbranche aus ganz Deutschland in der Textilakademie NRW in Mönchengladbach mit den Themen der Zukunft für die Bekleidungs- und Textilindustrie.

Möglich ist dies dank der ersten Summer School, die von der Wilhelm-Lorch-Stiftung der TextilWirtschaft (dfv Mediengruppe) zusammen mit dem Fachbereich Textil- und Bekleidungstechnik der Hochschule Niederrhein und dem Forschungsinstitut für Textil und Bekleidung gemeinsam veranstaltet wird. Anlass ist das Jubiläum der Wilhelm-Lorch-Stiftung, die seit 30 Jahren Förderpreise für Textilstudierende in ganz Deutschland stiftet. Studierende der Hochschule Niederrhein sind regelmäßig unter den Preisträgern.

Unter der Überschrift „Digitizing the Fashion Supply Chain“ kommen Teilnehmer aus ganz Deutschland zur Summer School auf dem Campus Mönchengladbach zusammen. In Workshops und Diskussionsrunden erhalten sie von Professionals Ausblicke auf Designprozesse, Technologie und Management von morgen.

Der 37-jährige Profitänzer, Choreograf und TV-Shows-Entertainer trägt Hut und gerne auch Mütze in der Hutgröße 60/61. So kennen und lieben ihn seine Fans bei der RTL-Show Let's Dance. Dort hat Massimo Sinató so manche Promi-Lady, Modell und Sportler-Ehefrau übers Parket gewirbelt. Kirsten Reinhardt, GDH-Geschäftsführerin, bedankte sich herzlich bei Massimo Sinató und überreichte dem prominenten Hutträger den exklusiven goldenen Hut-Award in Köln, wo er aktuell an einem TV-Projekt arbeitet. Die Award-Verleihung wird durch den Hutverband GDH seit 2013 im Rahmen des „Internationalen Tag des Hutes“ bekannt gegeben  ̶  ein Aktionstag, der von Tokio bis New York weltweit am 25. Massimo Sinató sagte bei der Award-Übergabe in Köln:
„Ich freue mich sehr über die Auszeichnung zum "Hutträger des Jahres 2018". Damit wird mein Lebensmotto bestärkt: Mut zum Hut! Ich trage seit meinem 20. Lebensjahr gerne Hüte aller Art. Ich bin ein Retro-Typ, ich mag Mode und Accessoires aus den dreißiger bis fünfziger Jahren. Abgesehen davon habe ich diese unbezähmbaren Haare, die durch einen Hut oder eine Mütze geschickt kaschiert werden. Ich besitze knapp 70 Hüte und betanze diese auch gerne in meinen Shows, zum Beispiel bei Let‘s Dance. Ich fühle mich geschmeichelt, dass ich diesen wunderschönen, tollen und originellen Award erhalten habe. Dankeschön!“
