The Chief Creative Officer is the lead within the adidas design community and is responsible for shaping, defining, and shepherding the creative direction for the global brand and its three major labels – Performance , Originals, and Sportswear – to deliver a unified adidas brand experience. Willis will begin his contract beginning of April, reporting to Executive Board Member of Global Brands, Brian Grevy.

Willis is a creative visionary with a long-standing connection to adidas that dates back to 2005, most notably through his role in the concept and development of adidas by Stella McCartney in partnership with Stella McCartney He has remained integral to the growth and development of the partnership since its launch.

Under the motto "BACK TO THE FUTURE", BLUEZONE offered a way back to the tactile experience of textiles and the reunion of the denim community. In addition to international denim weavers and manufacturers, visitors to the Zenith Hall also saw a qualitative selection of KEYHOUSE exhibitors who presented their futuristic innovations for the fashion industry.

Positive visitor & exhibitor echo despite Covid-19 measures

In keeping with the season's title "RISE", the visitors were greeted by inspiring, colourful trend forums with unique highlights for Autumn.Winter 22/23 collection development. In the halls, the industry was able to discover a trade show with the well-known and proven pre-pandemic quality with manufacturers and suppliers presenting in all 8 areas. Non-European suppliers were represented by agencies and offered well-attended show in show concepts.

The newly formed ReSOURCE x SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS Area also drew in the crowds. In a modern atmosphere, information was shared on sourcing sustainable textiles and additionals as well as innovative concepts. Another highlight was the launch of FABRIC.iD, the innovative process for the complete digitisation of fabrics to greater serve the industry's digital future.

DIGEL AG: New Head of Sportswear

Since 1 January 2021, Thomas Beller has been responsible for the sportswear division of the Digel brand in the newly created position of HEAD OF SPORTSWEAR.

Thomas Beller was responsible for the sportswear of the Strellson brand for many years.
Most recently, he was responsible for the product and design of the Navy Boot brand.

"We are pleased that we have been able to win Thomas Beller, an experienced leader in the field of product and design, for the Digel brand. With his expertise, Mr Beller will help us to successfully implement the growth strategy for the Digel brand," says Marc Svojanovsky, Board Member for Product, Marketing and Sales.

Together with creative agencies Karl Anders and Haebmau, the SEEK team has been working for weeks on the brand’s new branding. The result: a visual concept with a strong message.

CREATIVE CONNECTION: Karl Anders and Haebmau
 
The Hamburg-based agency Karl Anders, which was established by Claudia Fischer-Appelt and Lars Kreyenhagen, was commissioned to come up with the creative concept and design language for the logo and campaign.

“With the new look we are entering a new era for SEEK as a brand. Lots of brands have chosen a design using Helvetica in recent years,” says Claudia Fischer-Appelt, Creative Director at Karl Anders. “We are now signalling a clear shift in another direction. Confident, bold and independent. With the logo we are inviting the viewer to play with the linear layout in their head; we are breaking viewing habits, making a statement and revving things up a gear. SEEK, there it is.”
 
The artwork is the result of a process of in-depth debate with the SEEK brand that took place over several weeks both within the team and also with the support of lifestyle agency Haebmau. Workshops, research and analyses ultimately led to a new, strong brand identity. SEEK is focussed on both established and new players and stands for the WE.

“I have known SEEK since it was in its infancy, so to me it was always like a little brother of the large, successful PREMIUM. Quirky and different, always interesting but somehow not quite so imposing,” says Markus Bublitz, Executive Creative Director at Haebmau. “SEEK today is more grown-up, confident and sharper. Thanks to its position in the market, which it has conquered over the years, it no longer needs to please everyone but can afford to be controversial. This can offer space for new, creative ideas.”

SEEK is edgy, clean-cut and unpolished.

We are all about statement design, new classics, denim and sportswear. SEEK is the trade show event for the fashion community. Der 25-jährige Student Philipp Kassel hatte bereits vor Jahren die Idee zum eigenen Sneaker Onlineshop. „Nachdem ich bei einem Konzert von Kanye West sein eigenes Schuhmodell sah, versuchte ich den Sneaker überall im Netz zu finden. Das war deutlich schwieriger und teurer, als ich dachte. Deshalb habe ich ein Vertriebsmodell entwickelt, um Sneaker auch nach Verkaufsstart zu marktorientierten Preisen anbieten zu können“, erzählt Philipp Kassel. 2017 gründete er 7 Perplex und besorgt seitdem die Sneaker-Raritäten für seine Kunden und prüft diese dabei genaustens auf ihre Echtheit.

Doch durch welche Impulse treffen Konsumenten ihre finale Kaufentscheidung? In einer europaweiten Umfrage hat ISPO 2.783 Sportbegeisterte dazu befragt. Deutlich erkennbar ist die Relevanz der digitalen Medien. Auszeichnungen, technische Labels bekannter Produkttechnologien und Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte sind für Konsumenten die wichtigsten Kriterien beim Kauf neuer Sport- und Outdoor-Produkte.

Deutlich erkennbar ist die Relevanz der digitalen Medien. Auszeichnungen, technische Labels bekannter Produkttechnologien und Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte sind für Konsumenten die wichtigsten Kriterien beim Kauf neuer Sport- und Outdoor-Produkte.

Die Mehrheit der europäischen Freizeitsportler informiert sich am liebsten online über neue Produkte und Sporttrends und kauft auch gerne dort. Auszeichnungen wie der ISPO Award und technische Labels bekannter Produkttechnologien, beispielsweise Gore-Tex oder Vibram, sind dabei ein wichtiges Entscheidungskriterium. Ebenfalls ausschlaggebend für den Kauf sind die Langlebigkeit und Reparaturmöglichkeiten der Produkte.

Produktauszeichnungen geben Sportlern Orientierung auf dem Sportmarkt und zeichnen besonders innovative und hochwertige Produkte aus. Preise und Awards sowie Labels zu Produkttechnologien und nachhaltigen Aspekten wie bluesign dienen Herstellern und Verkäufern als Verkaufsargumente. Dennoch ist wenig bekannt darüber, wie diese Qualitätsmerkmale wirken, welchen Einfluss sie auf das Kaufverhalten von Sportlern haben.

Um Antworten auf diese Fragen zu finden, befragte ISPO 2.783 aktive Sportler zu ihrem Entscheidungsprozess beim Kauf neuer Sportartikel. Das Gros der Teilnehmer ist sportlich sehr aktiv und entsprechend mit der Materie vertraut: 79 Prozent betreiben mindestens zweimal pro Woche Sport, knapp die Hälfte davon sogar mehr als dreimal. Die Befragten kommen hauptsächlich aus Deutschland (29 Prozent), Italien (17 Prozent), UK (17 Prozent) und Frankreich (16 Prozent).

Aktive Sportler sind besonders präsent in den sozialen Medien

Zunächst wollte ISPO wissen, wo und wie sich Sportler über neue Produkte und Trends informieren. 60 Prozent der Befragten nutzen dafür Social Media-Plattformen. Das sind mehr als doppelt so viele wie der Durchschnitt der deutschen Bevölkerung (Quelle: Faktenkontor, 2017).

Weitere Online-Quellen sind ebenfalls hoch im Kurs, vor allem Web-Portale (42 Prozent), Google (41 Prozent) und Online-Magazine (36 Prozent). Abseits der digitalen Welt tauschen sich 48 Prozent mit Ihren Freunden über die Geschehnisse in der Szene aus. Auch beim gewählten Kanal für den Kauf teilt sich die Gruppe: 41 Prozent gaben an, ihr neuestes Sportprodukt im stationären Handel gekauft zu haben, 51 Prozent online (36 Prozent über Desktop/Laptop und 15 Prozent über Mobile Devices).

Neues Sport-Equipment motiviert – 80 Prozent planen Neuanschaffung

Insgesamt 68 Prozent der Befragten lassen sich durch neu erworbene Sportprodukte zum aktiven Sporttreiben motivieren. 33 Prozent bleiben durch neues Equipment sogar langfristig sportlich aktiv, 35 Prozent erfahren zumindest einen kurzfristigen Motivationsschub.

Relevanz von Auszeichnungen und technischen Labels beim Produktkauf

72 Prozent der Befragten gaben an, beim Kauf neuer Sportprodukte besonders auf Auszeichnungen und technische Labels zu achten. Zweitwichtigstes Kriterium ist die, von 54 Prozent genannte, Empfehlung von Freunden. 33 Prozent der Befragten lassen sich durch Tests und Magazine inspirieren. Dabei steigt der Einfluss von Labels und Auszeichnungen weiter an: Für fast die Hälfte der Befragten (46 Prozent) haben sie in den letzten Jahren an Relevanz gewonnen. Die Befragten ordnen Artikel mit entsprechenden Auszeichnungen, wie auch der ISPO Award, als hochwertiger ein und schreiben ihnen eine höhere Funktionalität zu als anderen Produkten.

Sportler kaufen gerne nachhaltig

Auch die Lebensdauer eines Sportartikels wird als Qualitätsmerkmal wahrgenommen und ist für drei Viertel der Befragten ein wichtiges Kaufkriterium. 37 Prozent achten zudem darauf, ob es entsprechende Ersatzteile bzw. Reparaturmöglichkeiten gibt, um kleinere Verschleißerscheinungen zu beheben. Diese Zahlen sind nicht zuletzt wohl auch ein Ergebnis der starken Präsenz von Nachhaltigkeitsthemen in der Branche.
