Istanbul Fashion Connection 2023 again successful

With over 400 exhibitors, the fourth Istanbul Fashion Connection event from August 9-11, 2023, at the Istanbul Expo Center on 35,000 sqm was again successful.

With over 20,000 visitors from more than 125 countries, IFCO recorded an increase in visitors of over 30% compared to August last year. International visitors more than doubled, with the largest visitor groups coming from Asia and the Middle East at 33% each, Europe at 17%, Africa 11% and the Americas at 6%.

All retail channels were represented at the show, from large shopping mall and department store groups to wholesalers, international retail chains, multi-brand boutiques and online platforms.

Exhibitors
In six clearly segmented halls, more than 400 brands presented themselves on 35,000 sqm from womenswear, menswear, kidswear sportswear, denim, leather and fur.

The Core Istanbul
For the second time, the exclusive design area The Core Istanbul, originally launched as part of Istanbul Fashion Week, presented itself at IFCO. Among others, Arzu Kaprol, Ceren Ocak, Çiğdem Akın, Essin Barış, Ezgi Karayel, Fulyaİlkmen - F.ILKK, Mehmet Emiroğlu, Meltem Özbek, Mert Erkan, Merve Ulu - Kuela, Murat Aytulum, Nejla Güvenç - Nej, Özlem Erkan, Selin Küçüksöz, Tuba Ergin joined the show. Menswear was also represented with Emre Erdemoğlu, Seydullah Yılmaz - SYHZ Wear and Yakup Biçer - Y Plus.

The Exclusive Area
Leading Turkish retail brands, already internationally active, showed in The Exclusive Area such as B&G Store, Climber BC, Damat, Giovane Gentile, Hatemoğlu, Ipekyol, Kayra, Kiğılı, Lee Cooper, Lufian, Jakamen, Naramaxx and convinced with their high quality, sustainable and fashionable products, which were in great demand among international buyers. Jakamen opened the IFCO Shows on the first day of the fair with its latest spring / summer collection for 2024.

FashionIst
With its own catwalk, the occasion fashion section FashionIst for women and men featured thirty leading brands and showed a cross-section of the latest designs in evening fashion with their innovative colors and dynamic styles. Daily fashion shows informed visitors about the latest trends.

B2B Match Making
The B2B Match Making at IFCO took place in speed dating mode and was well received. Exhibitors were efficiently networked with buyers from all over the world such as Inditex from Spain, Walmart, Quicksilver, Teddy Fresh or Wilbo from the USA, Sainsbury's from the UK, Cihuah from Mexico, the Apparel Group and Safari Group from the United Arab Emirates, Ria Miranda from Indonesia, Hi Style and Zalora from Malaysia, Musinsa from South Korea, Ackermans from South Africa etc.

For the next date of IFCO (7.-10. February, 2024), the organizers expect more than 600 companies. The participation of international fashion companies is to be expanded, for which IFCO provides the ideal springboard into the European and Asian markets.

SHIMA SEIKI to exhibit at Tech Fashion shows in Brazil

SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD., together with its Brazilian representative BRASTEMA TECNOLOGIA TÊXTIL LTDA., will host the Tech Fashion shows, a series of private exhibitions held at two locations in Brazil in July and August. The exhibitions will be a showcase for the company’s latest computerized flat knitting technology, presented through fashion shows, machine exhibits and the latest knit samples featured at ITMA 2023. The event is organized by the Fashion Committee of Fitemavest, consultants to Brazil's fashion market, and will feature presentations by CS DESIGN STUDIO designer Cecilia Seibel.

Technological displays include a full lineup of SHIMA SEIKI flat knitting machines, ranging from the MACH2XS WHOLEGARMENT® knitting machine to N.SVR122 computerized shaping machine, as well as the SFG-I fully automated glove knitting machine. Exhibited machines vary between locations. Details are given below under ‘Exhibited Technology.’

IFCO to be held in Istanbul from 9-11 August 2023

The extensive supporting program with fashion shows and trend zones inspires visitors with the latest fashion trends and styles, while the seminars and workshops address current topics in the fashion industry such as digital transformation, smart clothing, technical textiles and sustainability.

30,000 visitors from more than 100 countries are expected at the upcoming IFCO, mainly from the EU, UK, Eastern Europe, CIS, North Africa, Middle East and the USA. The show also offers networking events, such as B2B Speed Dating, which brings together fashion designers, brands, manufacturers, buyers and industry experts to exchange ideas and forge potential business relationships. This is an important aspect of the fair that has helped to position Istanbul Fashion Connection as a key meeting place for the fashion industry.

Premium Group: Repositioning of trade shows PREMIUM and SEEK

The Premium Group have announced a repositioning of its flagship trade shows PREMIUM and SEEK.
     
The first change is the relocation of the event to its iconic location: the Station Berlin. The venue is a historic place, which has served as the home of the Premium Group trade shows in the past.
The event will also be shortened to two days instead of three days, with new opening hours from 10 am - 10 pm including networking events and parties. This is a reflection of the changing times and the need to provide more efficient business and networking opportunities for exhibitors and visitors, maximizing their time and investment.

PREMIUM and SEEK will be held together and focus on curated trends, lifestyle brands, and sophisticated fashion collections. The CONSCIOUS CLUB remains one of Europe's biggest platforms for sustainability in fashion showcasing promosing brands and developments. Brands, retailers, and visitors can expect a more surprising, and streamlined event. The booth concept will be limited to a maximum size of 100 sqm, with a new sustainable booth system.

Ausstellung und Performance in der ZERO foundation

Anlässlich des fünfzehnjährigen Jubiläums der Stiftung widmet sich die ZERO foundation in Düsseldorf in einer Ausstellung dem Verhältnis von ZERO und Mode. Gezeigt werden neben Werken der Sammlung auch Modekreationen und Designentwürfe von ZERO-Künstler*innen, wie ein von Yves Klein gestaltetes Abendkleid.

Im Zusammenspiel von Ausstellung, Performance und Design wirft Ein Kleid, monochrom einen neuen Blick auf die ZERO-Bewegung und lässt junge Künstler*innen aus den Disziplinen Mode, Musik und Szenographie eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit der berühmten Avantgarde erfahren. Darunter eine Präsentation der jungen Modedesignerin Viktoria Lorenz am 16. und 22. April, die ganz im Zeichen der innovativen Arbeiten von ZERO-Künstler*innen wie Mack, Piene und Uecker steht.

IFCO Sourcing offers the opportunity to network with manufacturing companies such as Talu, Zevigas, Bozkurt, Bilce Tekstil, Gelişim, Karar, Akademi, Bozpaor Demezoğlu. These international manufacturers provide insight into their performance profile in terms of production, delivery times, etc.
The manufacturing sector is an important branch of the economy for the industry, over 80% of the companies in Türkiye are active in this sector. Many competitive advantages result from production in Türkiye, such as short delivery times, the possibility of small minimum order quantities, high production quality, young and well-trained employees. However, Türkiye also has a lively and creative design scene and high-quality fashion brands that are redefining the image of "Made in Türkiye". IFCO brings these brands to the stage and puts the Turkish fashion world in a new light.

The program offers seminars and lectures. The special focus is on the topic of sustainability, which is curated by Ekoteks Laboratorium, the association's sustainability institute. Accademia de la Moda and WGSN give latest trend information. Up to ten shows will take place on the catwalk in the Fashion Show Center, including presentations showcasing their latest collections.

In combination with Texhibition, the trade fair for fabrics, trimmings and yarns, which takes place from March 8th to 10th, 2023 in the Istanbul Exhibition Center, ITKIB / IHKIB offers with IFCO the complete offer for the international textile industry and trade.

Hochschule Reutlingen: Studierende präsentieren erste virtuelle 3D-Fashion Show

Im Schwerpunkt Fashion and Lifestyle Design setzten Studierende der Hochschule Reutlingen Entwürfe erstmals digital um und präsentieren ihre Ergebnisse in Form einer animierten 3D-Fashion Show. Ab dem 28. April sind die digitalen Entwürfe in einem Virtual Release Premiere dauerhaft online zu sehen.

Die Umsetzung von Kleidung als Simulation gewinnt in der Bekleidungs- und Modeindustrie eine immer größere Bedeutung. Technologie und Kreativität ergänzen sich dabei optimal und bieten neben enormen Zukunftschancen auch im Kontext Metaverse völlig neue Entwicklungsbereiche für Designerinnen und Designer. Besonders der digitale 3D-Entwurf bietet geradezu unerschöpfliche Möglichkeiten und ist ein Megatrend in der Branche.

In einem gemeinsamen Projekt der Fakultät Textil & Design der Hochschule Reutlingen mit einem der großen Player und Pioniere der Branche, dem Unternehmen Browzwear, setzten Studierende des Schwerpunkts Fashion and Lifestyle Design im Studiengang Textildesign/Modedesign vergangenes Semester erstmals ihre Kreationen in einer virtuellen Welt als animiertes Video um. Unter Leitung von Prof. Natalie Seng (Fashion & Lifestyle Design) sowie Doktorandin Gabriela Kosel (Bereich Clothing & Textile Manufacturing/Prof. Dr.- Ing. Katerina Rose) knüpft die Fakultät damit direkt an den allerneuesten und zukunftsweisenden Stand der Technik in der Bekleidungssimulation an.

Mit Hilfe eines innovativen Workflows und Lehrkonzeptes konnten die jungen Designstudierenden ihre Outfits direkt am selbstgestalteten Avatar präsentieren. Neben den virtuellen Entwürfen konnten so auch eigene digitale Umgebungen erschaffen werden. Intensive interne Workshops mit Unterstützung des Kooperationspartners Browzwear ermöglichten den Studierenden den direkten Einstieg in den digitalen Entwurf auf State of the Art-Niveau. Die virtuelle Darstellung und Simulation von Bekleidung bildet auch weiterhin einen festen Bestandteil in Forschung und Lehre an der Fakultät Textil & Design. Zum Wintersemester 2022/23 stehen die Zeichen in Reutlingen auf Neuanfang: Zeitgleich mit der Eröffnung des TEXOVERSUMS, dem vom Arbeitgeberverband Südwesttextil gestifteten europaweiten Leuchtturm für textile Ausbildung und Innovation, startet unter anderem der Bachelorstudiengang „Fashion and Textile Design“ neu und ersetzt mit angepassten Inhalten für neue Studierende den auslaufenden Studiengang „Textildesign/Modedesign“.
