Archroma: Neuer „Super-UV-Schutz“ FADEX® AS NEW

Archroma hat mit Fadex® AS New einen neuen überragenden UV-Schutz für Textilien im Fahrzeuginnenbereich vorgestellt.

Innenraumteile von Kraftfahrzeugen und anderen Verkehrsmitteln sind während ihrer langen Nutzdauer oft hohen Sonnen- und UV-Einstrahlungen ausgesetzt. Das betrifft beispielsweise Polyesterverkleidungen von Türen und Säulen, Sitzbezüge, Teppichböden oder Dachhimmel. Die damit verbundene, intensive Licht- und Wärmeeinwirkung führt häufig dazu, dass Gewebefarben schneller verblassen und Polyesterfasern an Festigkeit verlieren. Die von den Fahrzeugherstellern spezifizierten Anforderungen an die Lichtechtheit sind daher äußerst hoch und können nur von sorgfältig ausgewählten Produkten erfüllt werden.

Archroma hat diese Herausforderung mit der Entwicklung von Fadex® AS New aufgegriffen. Dieser neu entwickelte Lichtechtheitsverbesserer richtet sich vor allem an die Textilzulieferer der Fahrzeugbauindustrie und eignet sich insbesondere für den Einsatz zusammen mit den hochlichtechten Dorospers® A & K Farbstoffen im LIGHT FAST CAR System von Archroma. Der neue „Super-UV-Schutz“ wurde jüngst am 15. Mai 2019 auf der Techtextil vorgestellt.

Archroma stellt das neue Appretan® NTR vor, einen richtungsweisenden, wasserbasierten Binder für Textilbeschichtungen, der erneuerbare natürliche Inhaltsstoffe nutzt.
Nach dem Erfolg von EarthColors®, einer Gamme von Farbstoffen welche aus landwirtschaftlichen und pflanzlichen Bioabfällen wie Mandelschalen oder Sägepalmblättern gewonnen werden, ist Appretan® NTR eine weitere Innovation von Archroma auf Basis natürlicher Inhaltsstoffe.

Der neue wasserbasierte Binder wurde für die Beschichtung von Artikeln wie zum Beispiel Teebeutel, Kaffeefilter oder -kapseln entwickelt. Er nutzt einen natürlichen, erneuerbaren Rohstoff, der in der Nähe der Produktionsstätte in Lamotte (Frankreich) reichlich verfügbar ist.

Rund ein Drittel des Aktivgehalts von Appretan® NTR basiert auf einem Polysaccharid aus erneuerbaren Rohstoffen, mit dem sich der Einsatz fossiler Ressourcen reduzieren lässt, ohne die Leistungsfähigkeit des Binders zu beeinträchtigen.

Archroma eröffnet globales Kompetenzzentrum für Automobil- und synthetische Farbstoffe

Das neue Competence Center for Automotive & Synthetic Dyeing erweitert das bestehende Netz der globalen Kompetenzzentren, das Archroma bereits mit dem Global Competence Center for Special Dyes (Spezialfarben) in Barcelona, Spanien, und dem Global Competence Center for Finishing (Appretur) in Reinach, Schweiz, unterhält.

Archroma and National Textile University join hands to strengthen research in textiles

Archroma announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Textile University (NTU) in Pakistan. The memorandum will pave way for cooperation initially for a five-year period.

The partnership will explore innovations in textile research with futuristic visualization to help the textile industry to align with the fast pace of global requirements and evolutions. Another important aspect of this collaboration will be research in the field of unsaturated polyester resins in establishing quality and accessible product lines in non-conventional technical textiles. Both partners will jointly hold sessions to prepare students for the challenges of the textile industry through in-house training sessions, developmental projects, research in textile applications and process innovative methodologies by pioneering value additions. The students of NTU will also be able to join internship placement programs at Archroma’s Center of Excellence in Karachi.

Archroma moves forward with Full Scale Production of its New Aniline-free DENISOL® PURE INDIGO

Reinach, Switzerland - Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, today announced that the production of its new aniline-free* Denisol® Pure Indigo has been accelerated due to the high demand encountered on the market.

Aniline-free Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 liquid was first announced in May 2018 at the Planet Textile Conference held in Canada, and allows a cleaner way to produce the traditional, iconic indigo blue color that consumers associated with denim and jeans.

Archroma makes the Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 dye in the most sustainable way as currently possible. The new dye is produced in Archroma’s facility in Pakistan, a plant that made the headlines in 2012 for being what Archroma believed to be the industry’s first zero liquid discharge plant.

Archroma launched the 'Color Atlas by Archroma®' in 2016, a unique tool dedicated to providing fashion designers and stylists with off-the-shelf color inspiration that can be implemented in production with just a few clicks.
The Color Atlas contains 4,320 colors on cotton poplin, and online, almost double compared to similar tools available to textile and fashion specialists. More brands are turning to the Color Atlas and Archroma for color creation and implementation, such as American Eagle Outfitters, Athleta, Express, and Lands’ End.
Archroma and Carlin started their collaboration in July 2018. Carlin is using the color references of the Color Atlas during its color workshops throughout France, as well as in its 20 yearly publications.

Absolute Denim to become first denim manufacturer to convert 100% of its production to ground-breaking Aniline-free* indigo solution by Archroma

Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, today announced that Thailand-based Absolute Denim will be the first denim manufacturer to switch 100% of its production to aniline-free* indigo dyeing.

Absolute Denim is a Thailand-based denim manufacturer producing high quality denim with a focus on eco-friendlier materials and processes. The company can produce up to 2 million meters of denim per month (that's approximately 1.5 million pairs of jeans!), for customers that include some of the biggest brands and retailers in the world.

During production, some of the aniline stays locked into the indigo pigment and is difficult to wash off the fabric. The remainder of the aniline impurity, approximately 300 metric tons annually, is discharged during dyeing. This can be an issue as aniline is toxic to aquatic life. In addition, exposure levels to factory workers can be high. As a result of its toxicity (more hazardous than alkylphenols) it is now starting to feature on the restricted substance lists (RSL) of some major clothing brands and retailers.

The new Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 liq was therefore developed as an aniline-free* indigo solution for designers, manufacturers and brand owners who long for authentic indigo inspiration.

Archroma tested Denisol® Pure Indigo at Absolute Denim mill in Thailand. Archroma wanted to be sure that the new indigo dye would perform exactly the same as conventional indigo.

New Colouration values in the K-Seal range come from indigo applied with a water saving Indigo Juice® system. Or in the KN-Cotton range from cotton scraps recycled and dyed with Archroma earth colours. Both are sized with the Kitotex® Vegetal size derived from plants and natural renewables.
KN-Blue and Regen ranges use Sulfur dye and conventional Indigo dye using N-Denim tech and water saving Indigo Juice® respectively. The Regen range also uses Tencel and Refbra materials from Lenzing to add softness and a luxe touch to denims of the future.

Both partners will jointly hold sessions to prepare students for the challenges of the textile industry through in-house training sessions, developmental projects, research in textile applications and process innovative methodologies by pioneering value additions. The students of UET will also be able to join internship placement programs at Archroma Center of Excellence at Karachi.

Archroma breaks new ground with new aniline-free* indigo for denim

Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals, has presented an aniline-free* denim indigo dye at the recent Planet Textiles 2018 Conference in Vancouver, Canada. The brand new dye provides a non-toxic way to produce the traditional, iconic indigo blue that consumers associate with denim and jeans.
Currently, aniline impurities are an unavoidable element of producing indigo-dyed denim. Unlike other chemical impurities, aniline is locked into the indigo pigment during the dyeing process and therefore cannot be washed off the fabric.

Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals, has presented an aniline-free* denim indigo dye at the recent Planet Textiles 2018 Conference in Vancouver, Canada. Scientific testing has shown that aniline impurities are toxic to humans, causing skin allergies, damage to major organs and genetic defects, as well as being linked to cancer. Aniline is also toxic to aquatic life, which is an issue as two thirds of the 400 metric tons of aniline waste on an annual basis ends up in the environment as wastewater discharge. The toxic chemical is therefore starting to feature on the restricted substance lists (RSL) of some major clothing brands and retailers. “We have tested denim garments and found that aniline concentrations are frequently higher than expected,” says Alexander Wessels, CEO, Archroma. “This could put some manufacturers over the limits agreed on their RSLs.”

True to its commitment to take on innovation challenges, Archroma decided to take a closer look at the issue with its R&D experts, and developed an alternative system that is aniline free*.

That year, Archroma introduced its ‘Advanced Denim’ technology which uses up to 90% less water during the dyeing process. “Being not indigo but sulfur based, ‘Advanced Denim’ itself was an aniline free solution too!”, adds Alexander Wessels. For designers and brand owners who long for authentic indigo inspiration, the new Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 now also makes it possible to produce indigo-dyed denim without high levels aniline impurities. Archroma successfully tested Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 at Absolute Denim mill in Thailand. “During the testing everything performed exactly the same as it would with conventional indigo,” says Vichai Phromvanich, Board Member, Absolute Denim. “There was just one important difference: no aniline.”

Archroma will make the Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 dye in the most sustainable way as possible. The new dye will be produced in Archroma’s facility in Pakistan, a plant that made the headlines in 2012 for being what Archroma believed to be the industry’s first zero liquid discharge plant.

Dohmen, an international group specializing in the production of textile dyes and chemicals for the automotive, carpet and apparel sectors. This went into effect on May 1, 2018 and follows Archroma expanding its stake in M. Dohmen from 49% to 75% in September 2017.

The increased integration will be implemented in North America and Korea. In North America, 20 employees from M. Dohmen USA, Inc joined Archroma when the company merged into Archroma U.S. Inc. operations in the US and into Archroma Canada, Corporation in Canada.
