SGL Carbon: New Head of Business Unit Carbon Fibers

As of March 1, 2024, Dr. Denis Hinz will become new Head of SGL Carbon's Carbon Fibers Business Unit. The previous Head, Roland Nowicki, will leave SGL Carbon on May 31, 2024 at his own request to pursue new professional challenges. He will be available to the company as a consultant until his leaving date to support a smooth transition.

Roland Nowicki took over as Head of Carbon Fibers in November 2020 and has successfully driven forward the realignment of the business unit over the past three years.  

Dr. Denis Hinz has been with SGL Carbon for more than six years and has held various management positions during this time, including Head of Operations of the Fuel Cell Components division and Managing Director of SGL Fuel Cell Components GmbH in Meitingen since December 1, 2021. The graduate engineer from the Technical University of Munich is an experienced manager who is well networked within SGL Carbon and has closely followed the development of Carbon Fibers in recent years.

Mimaki Europe: Neuer Managing Director

Mimaki Europe, Hersteller von Tintenstrahldruckern und Schneidetechnologien, hat die Ernennung von Takao Terashima zum neuen Managing Director bekanntgegeben.

Terashima begann seine Laufbahn bei Mimaki 1997 in der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilung des Unternehmens. In den vergangenen 26 Jahren entwickelte er umfangreiche Fachkenntnisse in Bezug auf das Technologieportfolio von Mimaki und den zugehörigen Markt.

Bevor er seine neue Rolle übernahm, war er Senior General Manager der Asia Oceania Business Unit, eine Position, die er 2017 antrat. Davor war er von April bis Oktober 2017 sechs Monate lang Senior Deputy General Manager of Quality Management.
 
Terashimas beruflicher Werdegang bei Mimaki führte ihn über den japanischen Hauptsitz hinaus in mehrere Niederlassungen des Unternehmens, wo er unterschiedliche Zuständigkeiten hatte. Zwischen 2013 und 2017 war er vier Jahre lang Managing Director von Mimaki Singapur. Zu Beginn seiner Karriere arbeitete er auch bei Mimaki USA im technischen Support.
 
Terashima, der Takahiro Hiraki als Managing Director von Mimaki Europe ablöst, wird umfangreiche Branchenkenntnisse, analytisches Denken, geschäftliche und teambildende Fähigkeiten sowie ein umfassendes Wissen über das Unternehmen in die neue Rolle einbringen.

The Trützschler Group SE has appointed Dr. Ulrich Schwenken and Heinrich Krull to its Board of Directors with effect from July 1, 2022. Dr. Schwenken will serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Heinrich Krull will serve as Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Dr. Schwenken will assume responsibility for Development, Digitalization, IT and Corporate Communications. As a doctoral graduate specialized in engineering, he has many years of experience in automotive and mechanical applications. Since 2008, he has held various management positions in the areas of Service, Sales and Development at companies including Porsche AG and Volkswagen AG, where his responsibility covered a range of key topics such as digital transformation. Most recently, Dr. Schwenken served as CSO, CTO and CDO at Leistritz AG, and was responsible for the strategic focus on innovative growth areas.

As COO, he will be responsible for the areas of Production, Purchasing and Logistics, Quality Assurance as well as Supply Chain.

Until his scheduled retirement at the end of 2022, Dr. Dirk Burger will act as Co-CEO to Dr. Schwenken.

The responsibilities of the Board of Directors of Trützschler Group SE as of July 1, 2022 are as follows: Dr. Ulrich Schwenken (CEO) is responsible for Development, Digitalization, IT and Corporate Communications; Dr. Dirk Burger will take over the role of Co-CEO to Dr. Schwenken until the end of 2022; Dr. Ralf Napiwotzki (CFO) is responsible for Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance; Alexander Stampfer (CSO) is responsible for Sales, Marketing and Service; Heinrich Krull (COO) is responsible for Production, Purchasing and Logistics, Quality Assurance as well as Supply Chain.

Meanwhile markets are driven by technological developments and policy frameworks, especially bans and restrictions on plastics, as well as an increasing number of sustainability requirements. The  presentations will provide valuable information on the various use-opportunities for cellulosic fibres through a policy overview, a special session on sustainability, recycling and alternative feedstocks, as well as the latest developments in pulp, cellulosic fibres and yarns. In addition, examples of non-wovens,  packaging and composites will offer a look beyond the horizon of conventional application fields.

Emma Scalcon wins Imagining Sustainable Fashion Award

  • EMMA SCALCON is the winner of the first edition of the IMAGINING SUSTAINABLE FASHION AWARD, an international competition for communication in sustainable fashion.

The award was established in October 2020 by Connecting Cultures and C.L.A.S.S. with the aim of creating new visual imagery and innovative communication models in sustainable fashion. Stylists, photographers, designers, illustrators, artists and other creatives, invited to rethink how to communicate the new generation of values of an ethical and sustainable fashion system, joined the open and international call.

The name of the winner of the IMAGINING SUSTAINABLE FASHION competition was announced during a webinar on March 30th at 4pm led by Giusy Bettoni, CEO of C.L.A.S.S. Eco Hub; Anna Detheridge, President of Connecting  Cultures; Lucy Orta, Chair, Art & the Environment, University of the Arts London; and Dio Kurazawa, Founding Partner of The Bear Scouts.

As a designer, I make sure to fully leverage the advantages of digital printing when designing and producing my collection”, says Natalia.

By the time the DushaGreya brand begun, Natalia and her like-minded associate and father, Alexander Kordovatov, already had experience in the field of sublimation printing and knew that printing on fabric for subsequent tailoring would be carried out using this technology. However, no third-party performers could be found that would meet the quality and deadline requirements of the brand, so they decided to purchase new equipment and start printing at their own site. 

Alexander says. “We also found out that Smart-T (Mimaki's distributor in Russia), the supplier of this equipment in Moscow, is highly rated by the industry community and customers due to its professional expertise, first-line service support, and highly qualified engineers.” At the end of 2019, Smart-T installed the highly anticipated Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct textile printer at the DushaGreya facility. Today it prints fabrics for dresses, skirts, T-shirts, fleeces, jumpers, hoodies, trench coats, and other midwear.

"Mimaki Tx300P-1800 is the only printer in the Mimaki line that allows us to print on natural fabrics without pre-processing,” Alexander comments. “This gives us the ability to produce short, original print runs at no extra cost, which is vital in achieving our goals. The TP400 pigment inks used in this printer have an expanded colour gamut, so the prints are always bright and saturated.”

Better Rich verstärkt hauseigenes Vertriebsteam

Nach knapp 100 Tagen bei Better Rich zieht Wolfgang Lohe mit einer Umsatzsteigerung von 25 Prozent erfolgreich Bilanz.

Der Lifestyle-Anbieter konnte während der Orderphase für die Saison Frühjahr/Sommer 2020 knapp 50 neue Herrenkunden und 30 neue Damenkunden für sich gewinnen und stellt als logische Konsequenz nun ein hauseigenes Vertriebsteam auf. Ab dem 1.10.2019 setzt Better Rich auf neue Vertriebsstrukturen, die eine individuellere, partnerschaftlichere Zusammenarbeit mit dem Handel ermöglichen. Zusätzlich zu Roland Gomolla (44), der bereits seit 10 Jahren die Mitte Deutschlands betreut, werden insgesamt drei neue Mitarbeiter das Vertriebsteam bei Better Rich verstärken.

Finavia recruits 200 test passengers to assess the new Helsinki Airport terminal facilities – A role play inspired event at the airport

A new era of travel will soon be here when Finavia opens the new magnificent south wing of Helsinki Airport during summer 2017. Before the opening, Finavia will invite 200 volunteers to the airport to test that the south wing operations work as they should. Finavia has an ongoing development programme at Helsinki Airport, worth of almost one billion euros, which will expand the airport and increase its capacity. With the development programme, Finavia is prepared to serve 20 million passengers at Helsinki Airport per year in 2020.

The first part of the new extension, the south wing, is now ready for testing and waits for the final touch before being opened for passengers. Finavia will arrange a unique deployment test in a role play spirit at Helsinki Airport on Thursday 6 July 2017. The purpose of the deployment test, which is the largest in the history of the airport, is to ensure before deployment that the terminal operations and processes at the south wing work as they should. - The test day is arranged in order to ensure a smooth, pleasant travel experience, which is the cornerstone of all of our services. Test passengers will have a unique day at the airport and the possibility to look behind the scenes, says Helsinki Airport Director Ville Haapasaari from Finavia.
During the test day, the visibility of signs, passenger pleasantness and the technological solutions of the airport, among others, will be under scrutiny.
