Launch of GarmentTech İstanbul Exhibition

Turkey's leading garment machinery manufacturers and representatives have collaborated with Teknik Fuarcılık for GarmentTech İstanbul Garment, Embroidery Machines Spare Parts and Sub Industry Exhibition to host the first GarmentTech İstanbul Exhibition.

The GarmentTech İstanbul Exhibition will be held at İstanbul Expo Center (IFM) between June 25-28, 2025 and brings together all the technologies used in garment and ready-to-wear production.

The ready-to-wear and garment sector is among the locomotive sectors of the Turkish economy with both employment and export income. With 22 thousand 640 exporters and 42 thousand 434 manufacturers, the sector is among the priority sectors in the country's employment with approximately 700 thousand people working in production. Together with the retail and ready-to-wear sectors, total employment exceeds 2 million.

On the other hand, ready-to-wear and garment sector is the 3rd largest exporter in Turkey. Turkey is the 5th country in the world that exports the most ready-to-wear and garment. In 2023, the sector reached 19.3 billion dollars in exports and has a share of 7.5% in general exports.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2023 taking place 16 – 18 August 2023

From 16 – 18 August 2023, 1,022 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions will occupy four halls and 100,000 sqm gross at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). This Autumn Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles will return to its regular format, as a comprehensive platform held separately from Messe Frankfurt’s other autumn textile fairs. Complementing the strong lineup of exhibitors over all three days, a varied selection of fringe events will communicate key insights, offer industry specific inspiration, and facilitate cross-sector exchanges for fairgoers.

Buyers from 66 countries and regions have already pre-registered for the show, while a range of international brands are preparing to showcase their latest innovations. Multiple exhibitors will gather according to origin, with three country and region pavilions a must-see for fairgoers seeking exotic home textiles:

  • Türkiye Pavilion: organised by Uludag Textile Exporters’ Association (UTIB), the pavilion will showcase a range of curtains, upholstery fabrics, and other home textiles, from suppliers such as Aleran Tekstil Inşaat Gida Sanayi Ve Ticaret Ltd Şti, Küçükçalik Tekstil San Ve Tic A Ş and Weavers Tekstil San Ve Tic A Ş.

Beyond the pavilions, buyers can easily locate their desired home and contract textiles via conveniently placed product zones, covering categories such as curtain and curtain fabrics; sun protection and window shades; upholstery and sofa fabrics; furniture leather; bedding and editors; loungewear and bath; and rugs. Fringe programme: keeping fairgoers up-to-date with range of industry developments
Business exchange at Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles will once again be supplemented by multiple concurrent events, for home textile players to learn more about the latest industry innovations, as well as upcoming design trends. These include:

  • International Intertextile Trend Forum 2023–2024: held in the afternoon of day one, the event will be hosted by a prominent member of the ‘2023 – 2024 Intertextile International Lifestyle Trend’ trend committee, Mr Shen Lei, joined on the panel by multiple designers. They will discuss various impacts on designs, such as sustainability’s effect, the influence of emerging technologies, and international integration and localised expression.
  • IKASAS Japanese Home Design Gallery and themed seminar: the leading Japanese furniture brand IKASAS will utilise a display area to illustrate its unique design philosophy, by showcasing innovative furniture products that predominantly align with contemporary trends. The company’s founder, Mr Akiyuki Sasaki, will delve deeper into his design views in a seminar held on the morning of day one.
  • The New Power of Healthy Home Decoration Environment: a first-time collaboration with CRECC Full Decoration Council, the cross-sector conference in Hall 5.1 on day two will welcome keynote speakers from the real estate industry, to discuss topical insights at the intersection of realty and home textiles. Das Ergebnis: Ein durchgängig positives und ganzheitliches Omnichannel-Erlebnis bietet keiner der analysierten Händler. In puncto Kommunikation gibt es ebenfalls Nachholbedarf: Fehlende Angaben zur Lieferdauer und fehlende Benachrichtigungen zur Abholung sind hier ein großer Frustfaktor. Häufigster Grund für Unzufriedenheit beim Kauf ist der Bezahlvorgang. 30 Prozent wünschen sich an dieser Stelle eine größere Auswahl an Zahlungsmethoden oder beanstanden, dass gar nicht erst online gezahlt werden kann, sondern ausschließlich vor Ort in der Filiale. Mit dem Abholprozess sind wiederum die meisten der Testkäufer:innen zufrieden. Dennoch gibt es sowohl in der Filiale als auch im digitalen Prozess Reibungspunkte, die verbessert werden können. So sind fehlende Service-Points vor Ort oder fehlende Digitalisierung bei Übergabeprozessen negative Erfahrungswerte.

Ein großer Kostenfaktor im Fashion-Bereich sind Retouren. Hier schneiden die meisten Händler zufriedenstellend ab, könnten aber mit einheitlichen, digitalen Prozessen effizienter arbeiten.

Vereinfachen und optimieren schließen sich nicht aus
Kund:innenansprüche haben sich in den vergangenen Jahren und nicht zuletzt seit der Corona-Zeit stark erhöht. EU-ALLIANCE aims to support SMEs internationalisation in the fields of technical textile, connectivity and advanced materials to address dual use markets in four targeted countries: The United States, Canada, Japan and Indonesia. The EU-ALLIANCE project is funded by the European Union's COSME programme. It brings together 6 key clusters representing nearly 900 companies: Techtera (France); Systematic (France); PO.IN.TEX - Textile innovation cluster (Italy); NTT - Next Technology Tecnotessile (Italy); NIDV - Industries for Defence and Security (Netherlands); SIIT - Intelligent System Integrated Technologies (Italy).

NTT DATA, führender Anbieter von Business- und IT-Lösungen, bietet auch Unternehmen in Deutschland im Rahmen seiner Beratungsprojekte das smarte hitoe T-Shirt an. Ausgestattet mit einem Sensor und aus einem speziellen, leitungsfähigen Gewebe hergestellt, misst das Shirt bioelektrische Signale − Herzfrequenz, Puls und Muskelkontraktionen − des Trägers ohne die bisherige Verkabelung von Metallsensoren. Die Daten stehen unmittelbar per Smartphone zur Verfügung. Eine Auswertung wie etwa der Stresslevel kann im Anschluss erfolgen. Für tiefergehende Analysen lässt sich hitoe zudem mit einer Service-Plattform verbinden. Das intelligente Textil- und Nanofasergewebe zeichnet sich durch eine starke Langlebigkeit aus, und hält locker Schweiß, Feuchtigkeit und wiederholtes Waschen aus.
Entwickelt wurde das hitoe-Shirt von der japanischen NTT Group und Toray, japanischer Spezialist für Materialtechnologie. In Japan ist das Shirt bereits führend im Bereich der SmartWear und wird von Unternehmen unter anderem für die Unfallprävention eingesetzt: So tragen Busfahrer das Shirt, um rechtzeitig vor Müdigkeit gewarnt zu werden. Auch beim Bodenpersonal am Flughafen dient es zur Vermeidung von Unfällen. Generell erhöht die Technologie die Sicherheit am Arbeitsplatz und lässt viele weitere Szenarien zu − vom Einsatz bei Arbeitnehmern, die besonderen physischen Anstrengungen unterliegen, bis hin zu Personal in sicherheitskritischen Bereichen wie Kraft- oder Chemiewerken.

Das hitoe-Shirt wurde auch im Motorsport eingesetzt, um das Training und die Leistung des Rennfahrers zu verbessern. In den USA ist NTT DATA Partner von Chip Ganassi Racing, einem der erfolgreichsten Teams im Automobilrennsport. Erst 2017 nutzte das Team die hitoe- Technologie mit einem seiner IndyCar-Fahrer, um Erkenntnisse zu sammeln und durch Analysen einen Wettbewerbsvorteil zu erlangen.
„In unserer Gruppe investieren wir stark in Forschung und Entwicklung. In Japan entwickelte Technologien bringen wir hierhin, damit deutsche Unternehmen davon profitieren können und am Puls der Zeit bleiben“, erklärt der NTT DATA Chief Client Officer Dieter Loewe.

In Deutschland hat die Deutsche Bahn das Tech-Shirt während einer Vergleichsfahrt eingesetzt. Im Rahmen einer typischen Geschäftsreise von Frankfurt nach Paris – verglichen wurde die Reise zwischen Flugzeug und der Bahn – trugen die Testfahrer das Shirt, um zu ermitteln, welche Reiseart stressfreier verläuft. „Das hitoe-Shirt hat im Zug wie auch im Flugzeug zuverlässig funktioniert und sich damit bei der Vergleichsfahrt gut bewährt. Dank der Datenanalysen konnten wir diese mit konkreten Zahlen hinterlegen”, sagt Karina Kaestner, Leiterin Vertrieb Business Partner bei der Deutschen Bahn.
NTT DATA wird diese Technologie auch in Zukunft intensiv fortentwickeln, um weitere Anwendungen wie etwa im Gesundheitswesen oder im Seniorenbereich für einen unabhängigen Lebensstil bis ins hohe Alter, zu erschließen.
