Messe Frankfurt: Neue Verantwortlichkeiten im Textilbereich

Mit dem Texpertise Network ist die Messe Frankfurt weltweiter Marktführer bei Veranstaltungen rund um Bekleidungsstoffe, Mode, Wohntextilien, technische Textilien und Textilverarbeitung. Für diesen Bereich, zu dem auch die Frankfurt Fashion Week gehört, gab das Messeunternehmen personelle Veränderungen bekannt.

Die Frankfurt Fashion Week, mit der Premium Group als strategischer Partner, erweitert seit der Ankündigung im Mai 2020 das Portfolio der Messe Frankfurt im textilen Bereich. Pandemiebedingt fand die erste Ausgabe im Juli 2021 digital in Form des FFW Studios statt. Hierfür zeichnete bereits Dr. Hendrik Müller-Giegler als Director Frankfurt Fashion Week verantwortlich. Er übernahm diese Position im Juni 2021 von Ricarda Quehl, die sich aktuell im Mutterschutz befindet. Müller-Giegler, der Führungspositionen und internationale Marketingexpertise in der Medien- und Entertainment-Industrie vorweisen kann, stieg 2018 bei der Messe Frankfurt als Director Marketing Communications im Geschäftsfeld Entertainment, Media & Creative Industries ein.

An der Entwicklung der Frankfurt Fashion Week maßgeblich beteiligt ist ebenfalls Claudia Franz, die umfassende Erfahrungen in der internationalen Fashion- und Textilbranche hat und seit 2019 als Director Brand Management Interior & Contract Textiles and Apparel Fabrics & Fashion bei der Messe Frankfurt tätig ist. Sie begleitet aktuell den Produktlaunch der neuen Quality Mainstream-Modemesse Val:ue sowie den Vorstufenbereich Apparel Sourcing in Fashion zur Frankfurt Fashion Week.

Zwei weitere Änderungen ergeben sich durch den Weggang von Thimo Schwenzfeier, der das Unternehmen zum 31. Oktober 2021 auf eigenen Wunsch verlässt, um sich neuen beruflichen Herausforderungen zu stellen.

Auf der Position des Show Directors Neonyt folgt ihm Bettina Bär nach. Bär arbeitet seit 2012 in verschiedenen Positionen für die Messe Frankfurt im Bereich der Konsumgütermessen und war zuletzt Show Director der Tendence. Außerdem wird sie in Personalunion auch die Leitung der neuen Modemesse Val:ue übernehmen. Diese geht zur Frankfurt Fashion Week im Januar 2022 erstmals an den Start und bildet künftig die Homebase des Segments Quality und Mainstream Fashion.

Die Abteilung Marketing-Kommunikation wird seit dem 1. Oktober 2021 von Ivonne Seifert geleitet. Damit verantwortet Seifert künftig die Marketingkommunikation der internationalen Leitmessen Heimtextil, Techtextil und Texprocess, der Modemessen Neonyt und Val:ue sowie die kommunikative Begleitung des internationalen Texpertise Network. Sie ist seit zehn Jahren für die Messe Frankfurt tätig und nahm dabei verschiedene Aufgaben im Marketing wahr. Sowohl im B2B- als auch im B2C-Umfeld verfügt sie über umfassendes Marketing-Know-how.

Design, e-commerce and sustainable development highlights of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles fringe programme

The rescheduled Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, now taking place from 9 – 11 October, will once again provide the industry with insight into the future through its fringe programme’s four categories: Design Inspiration, Business O2O, Textiles & Technologies and Industry Empowerment. And with the Online Business Matching sourcing platform returning this edition, buyers worldwide can still participate in the fair.

Each of the fringe programme’s four categories – Design Inspiration, Business O2O (online to offline), Textiles & Technologies and Industry Empowerment – features a mix of conferences, seminars and presentations that reflect the future of the home textile industry. Since 2019, Messe Frankfurt has been working with the Conscious Fashion Campaign and United Nations Office for Partnerships as part of the Texpertise Network and supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The goals will be presented gradually at global textile events in order to highlight the most pressing challenges facing the textile and fashion industry worldwide.

Industry Empowerment: antimicrobial technologies and licensing in the home textile sector

Growing awareness of health and hygiene has increased the demand for antimicrobial and other functional textiles. Seminars hosted by the Chinese Industry Association for Antimicrobial Materials & Products will further discuss the increasing prominence of these textiles, as well as how the adoption of new antimicrobial textile technologies is expected to evolve in the future. In addition, experts will share the new trends of licensing and IP with case studies for the furniture companies and fabric brands.

2022 China Home Textile Trends

The China Home Textiles Trend Area will feature the research of the China Home Textile Association, The Department of Home Textile Trend Research and Promotion and Concept & Style Fashion Project Group Italy who shared their knowledge, inspirations and exchanged their visions of trend evolutions considering consumer demand, retail expertise, the contract market and new technologies.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition 2021 will be held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, Yarn Expo Autumn, PH Value and CHIC at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition will return from 24 – 26 August 2020 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA). Stepping into its 26th edition, the trade fair will provide exhibitors the perfect opportunity to introduce new products and expand their distribution networks, as well as serving as a source of information and inspiration for professionals in every aspect of the industry.
 
Celebrating its 25th anniversary last August, the Autumn Edition of Intertextile attracted 1,147 exhibitors from 27 countries & regions, as well as 35,390 trade buyers from 117 countries & regions (2018: 104), reflecting the increasing internationalism of Messe Frankfurt’s textile fairs in China, and the growing opportunities for international suppliers to meet a wide range of buyers in Shanghai. The trade fair’s capacity to attract large and diverse crowds has reinforced its status as the leading business platform for the home textile industry in the Asia Pacific region.

“The upcoming Autumn Edition of Intertextile is set to offer suppliers and buyers the best platform to capture new business opportunities, especially as we continue to focus on bringing together more key players from the textiles, interiors, architecture and hospitality sectors in China and internationally,” Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said.
 
“Over the years, Intertextile has been evolving from a traditional trade fair to an immersive and interactive experience that inspires and engages attendees. Today, the fair is more than a business platform; it also delivers state-of-the-art home trends, valuable networking opportunities, as well as innovative and strategic solutions for brand development through a series of fringe programme events,” Ms Wen further explained.
 
As one of the selected exhibitors featured in the Talks & Tours series at the 2019 fair, Mr Thomas Luys, Sales Manager of LIBECO-LAGAE: “We had quite a diverse range of visitors, including an increase in e-commerce buyers, but also more traditional upholstery fabrics buyers. Our booth was also part of the Talks & Tours, so it was important to tell our story to a diverse range of visitors on this tour.”

Messe Frankfurt India and MEX Exhibitions enter into a strategic alliance

With portfolio expansion and future development of the industry in sight, the organisers of Texprocess India and Gartex India have entered into a strategic alliance to form a unified industry platform ‘Gartex Texprocess India’. The event will be part of Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network leveraging on the group’s strong global network and expertise in the sector.
 
Leading in both apparel consumption and exports, India holds the second largest textile manufacturing capacity globally with the textile machinery sector witnessing a growth of 8-10 percent year on year. As the world's second largest exporter of textiles and clothing projected to reach USD 300 billion by 2024, Indian apparel manufacturers are moving towards increasing their manufacturing capacities and upgrading technology, giving rise to automation garmenting processes to enter the Indian market. Having made its debut in 2016, both Texprocess India and Gartex India received tremendous response from the industry with leading associations and companies in the garment and textile machinery sector coming forward to support the shows.
