Dry cleaners in the textile cleaning use machines and equipment for the chemical
cleaning of textiles. They sort the laundry and prepare them for the cleaning
process for customers. Dry cleaners work in the textile cleaners and laundries.
They may also work in enterprises of the textile finishing.
Dry cleaners in the textile cleaning sort and prepare the garments which needs to
be cleaned, e.g. by a special spot treatment in the so-called “Vordetachur”. There
they do the basic cleaning - they fill the machines, start as determined different
cleaning programs, and monitor the cleaning process. Finally, dry cleaners consider
the cleaned parts for residual stains and perform when needed a “Nachdetachur”. Dry
cleaners also prepare the cleaned pieces for pick up. Therefore they finish the textiles
where appropriate, by e.g. ironing or steaming them. Dry cleaners sometimes even dye textiles.
Therefore they prepare the stained fabric parts by wet cleaning and stain removal, if
necessary; they calculate and use the special dyeing receipts and handle dyeing machines.
They control the dyeing process continuously, assess the achieved results and treat eventually
the dyed fabric parts.
Dry cleaners in the textile cleaning shall operate mostly out in humid workplaces. Mostly
dry cleaners work in teams, but individual work orders, they do independently. Especially
in the pre-and post-treatment of textiles dry cleaners do part of the work by hand. Because
they deal with skin and air passages irritant washing or cleaning liquors, paints and disinfectants
and apply finishing procedures, the occupational and health safety has an important role. Against
skin irritation and allergies they protect themselves with respiratory protection and work gloves.
When using chemicals they adhere to the current environmental rules and regulations.
