The next VDMA technology webtalk is scheduled for 9th February 2021 (2-4 pm CET). The focus will be on "Material efficiency & recycling technologies for the manmade fiber industry".

The presenters and their topics at a glance:

  • Manfred Dobersberger, PureLoop and Wolfgang Hermann, EREMA Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen will present an integrated shredder extrusion technology for fibrous, textiles scraps, multilayers, films, trays, straps, foam, trays but also polymer mix materials from textiles and even classical thermoplastic composite materials.
  • Axel Hannemann, company Gneuss, offers recycling solutions which enable the fibre manufacturer to use their otherwise worthless fibre waste to substitute virgin material in the manufacture of high-quality fibres.
  • Markus Reichwein, Oerlikon Manmade Fibers: “We at Oerlikon Manmade Fibers describe a cascaded approach into new technologies as well as different material sources outlining your need for versatile solutions.”

After the presentations, the experts will be available to answer the participants' questions. Registration is possible.

Torsten Turba verstärkt smartpolymer als Vertriebsmanager

Ab sofort unterstützt Torsten Turba die smartpolymer GmbH Rudolstadt als technischer Vertriebsmanager für den internationalen B2B-Markt. Der 41-jährige tritt damit die Nachfolge von Frank Stops an, der im Dezember nach 14-jähriger Tätigkeit für die TITK-Gruppe in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand geht.

Als Diplom-Kaufmann verfügt Torsten Turba über langjährige Erfahrungen im Vertrieb und der Erschließung neuer Geschäftsfelder und Märkte. Er war bereits in unterschiedlichen Branchen erfolgreich tätig. Bei smartpolymer betreut er künftig die Produktgruppen Beflockung, Phasen-Wechsel-Materialien (PCM) und Sicherheitsfasern, schwerpunktmäßig in den Zielmärkten Deutschland, Italien und Frankreich.

In seiner neuen Funktion will sich Torsten Turba mit Kompetenz, Serviceorientierung und Empathie besonders empfehlen. „Wenn sich der Kunde gut aufgehoben fühlt, dann bleibt er auch“, sagt der 41-Jährige, den die große Vielfalt des Leistungsangebotes innerhalb der TITK-Gruppe besonders reizt. „Gern möchte ich die Weiterentwicklung aktiv mitgestalten“, so Turba.

As of September 15th 2020, the Finland-based coating and gelcoat manufacturer Finnester Coatings Oy strengthens its activities in German speaking countries, the so-called D- A-CH region, comprising Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Dr. Michael Effing from AMAC.

Finnester is a pioneer in developing high-quality coatings and gelcoat for both urface spread as well as flame and thermal insulation of composite solutions in different fields of industries. Their portfolio comprises products based on Polyester coatings for fire and thermal protection as well as ceramifying polymers like HybridRED, compliant with the requirements of the standards e.g. EN45545-2. In
order to develop new business opportunities in the D-A-CH region for the endmarkets building and infrastructure, transportation, marine, industrial and electrical industries, Finnester is cooperating with AMAC to accelerate the process of locating suitable partnerships.

The Ideal Fibres & Fabrics Comines site produces high quality yarns for a large variety of application and market segments including the automotive industry. It scored exceptionally well in its FM Global assessment which focused on aspects including fire protection, protection against natural hazard, mechanical breakdown of machinery and also cyber risks.

Its overall risk mark of 76 ranks it within the top 25% of its industry for fire risk prevention and protection.

Our contingency planning and risk management are essential, well-considered elements within our long-term business strategy to demanding sectors such as Automotive and Commercial & Residential floor covering contracts.”

Ideal Fibres & Fabrics Comines is the second facility in the Group to attain HPR status, and the very first in Europe. Pinnacle Polymers LLC in the USA also achieved the HPR as a chemical plant, which is a rare achievement within the chemical business. Fire risk prevention is part of the Group’s broader risk management activities. B.I.G. is investing in increasing the level of protection at all B.I.G. plants in order to protect its business continuity.

The divisions of B.I.G. are also implementing a number of safety programmes to raise awareness of workplace safety and to maintain strong safety records.
