Under its Baldwin brand, BW Converting will partner with Fi-Tech, Inc. at Techtextil North America to demonstrate its TexCoat™ G4 precision spray finishing system, an advanced, sustainable solution designed to reduce chemical waste, minimize water usage and cut energy consumption in textile manufacturing.
Held May 6-8 in Atlanta, Techtextil North America is the premier event for technical textiles and nonwovens in the United States. BW Converting will be present in the Fi-Tech booth A3207 to connect with textile professionals seeking to streamline operations while improving finishing quality and sustainability outcomes.
 
The TexCoat G4 applies chemistry with pinpoint accuracy — on one or both sides of the fabric — with no contamination, overspray or dilution. By eliminating pad baths and reducing the frequency of changeovers, the system significantly improves operational efficiency.
 
Also featured at Techtextil North America will be BW Converting's Baldwin Plasma Pure surface modification technology. Plasma Pure boosts adhesion and uptake in dyeing, coating and laminating processes by optimizing surface energy at the molecular level, without the need for added chemicals.

The full potential of advanced coating and finishing technologies for the production of technical textiles will be outlined by Monforts specialists which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, in May.

The company and its US representative PSP Marketing, of Charlotte, North Carolina, will be part of the VDMA German Pavilion at the show, at stand 3231 within the Georgia World Congress Center.

A wide range of technical fabrics is now being successfully created with MontexCoat coating units in comination with Montex stenters, including tents, tarpaulins and awnings, black-out roller blinds and sail cloth, automotive interior fabrics and medical disposables.

Full PVC coatings, pigment dyeing or minimal application surface and low penetration treatments can all be carried out with the extremely versatile system. Solvent coatings in explosion-proof conditions, knife coating, roller coating and screen printing are further options and the MontexCoat has been engineered to enable users to switch quickly from one fabric run to the next without compromising on the economical use of energy or raw materials.

“There has already been terrific interest in the MontexCoat and the range of different techniques it enables and we’re far from exhausting its potential uses,” says Achim Gesser, Monforts Area Sales Manager who will be at the show in Atlanta. “For companies who don’t need such flexibility, the economical coaTTex unit is exclusively dedicated to air knife and knife-over-roller coating.

“At our ATC in Mönchengladbach, Germany, however, a MontexCoat unit has been integrated into a full Montex technical textiles pilot line, on which our customers can run trials of new fabrics and finishing formulations in widths of up to 1.8 metres. This line has been engineered to provide the ultimate in precision coating and finishing in industrial-scale trials.”

To fully demonstrate what’s possible, the Montex line at the ATC is able to treat materials not only at temperatures of up to 320°C, but apply separate coatings on the two sides of certain materials at different temperatures, within a single pass through the machine. To achieve this, the first two chambers of the stenter are fitted with TwinTherm burners for individual top/bottom heating. A temperature differential of up to 60°C can be achieved between the upper and lower nozzles within the chamber, depending on the treatment parameters.

“There are many applications where employing two separate temperature treatments is beneficial, such as floorcoverings – where the textile face fabric is treated at one temperature and the rubber backing at another – as well as PVC flooring employing chemical foams, black-out roller blinds with heavy backings or PTFE-coated filter materials,” Gesser explains.

Another key feature of the technical textiles line at the ATC is the Montex stenter’s special stretching device which is capable of pulling ten tons in length and ten tons in width – a huge amount per square metre of fabric and necessary in the production of materials such as woven or 3D knits for high temperature filter media.

Monforts also offers the special T-max grease-free stenter chain for high temperature treatments up to 320°C, at machine speeds up to 100m/min and transverse tension up to 2,500 N/m with the benefits of no maintenance and no grease marks on fabric.

“Technical textiles are extremely diverse in their end-use applications but the needs of the manufacturers of very different materials are still uniform in many respects,” says Gesser. “European-built Montex stenters provide maximum finishing efficiency and many of our customers are operating them 24 hours a day over seamless shifts.”

Existing customers include manufacturers in the fields of home textiles, geotextiles and automotive fabrics, as well as functional materials and dedicated Montex lines have also been supplied to producers of airbags, flame retardant barrier fabrics and spacer fabrics.

“Techtextil North America is a very important show for us because technical textiles are a key pillar of our production programme,” Gesser concludes. “North America is one of our major markets and we are looking forward to reconnecting with existing and potentially new customers at this always-vibrant show.”

Techtextil 2026: realising market potential with innovations
Techtextil is also seeing great booking interest from exhibitors. Among those registered are Concordia Textiles (Belgium), Groz-Beckert (Germany), Klopman International (Italy), Kolon Industries (Korea), Lenzing, Sattler Pro-Tex (Austria), Sioen (Belgium) and Schill+Seilacher (Germany). The many new exhibitors include Dystar Singapore, Indorama Ventures Fibers Germany, Monteiro Ribas (Portugal), TreeToTextile (Sweden) and Woolmark (Germany). The leading trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens covers the entire spectrum of high-tech textiles. Suppliers meet buyers from a wide range of industries here. They are looking for customised material solutions - whether for the automotive or apparel industry. For the first time, there is a separate area for Textile Chemicals & Dyes in Hall 9.0, which is already in high demand. The new Performance Apparel Textiles area in Hall 9.0 is also attracting great interest. It offers promising synergies: With Fibres & Yarns, manufacturers find their upstream stage in the same hall. In addition, the proximity to Texprocess in Hall 8.0 makes it even more accessible for the apparel industry.

CHT, a specialist in textile chemistry and dyes, is showcasing the latest sustainable textile technologies at PERFORMANCE DAYS Functional Fabric Fair in Munich on March 5 and 6, 2025. The focus is on innovative dyeing processes and functional finishes that specifically improve textile properties.

• PIGMENTURA by CHT - The innovative, pigment-based dyeing process uses no water at all for soaping and rinsing and does not require energy-intensive heating of the process water. As a result, water consumption in the dyeing process can be reduced by up to 96 %. Von nachhaltigen Produktentwicklungen über spannende Masterclasses bis hin zu einem interaktiven "Miniatur-Wunderland" können Besuchende zirkuläre Ansätze entdecken, um die Zukunft der Kunststoffindustrie zu gestalten. Auf der Circular Valley Convention (CVC) 2025 in Düsseldorf vom 12. bis 13. März 2025 präsentiert das Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy CCPE innovative Lösungen für eine zirkuläre Kunststoffwirtschaft.

Das Motto der Circular Valley Convention 2025, "Vereinte Industrien für eine zirkuläre Zukunft", passt zum Fraunhofer CCPE, denn die erfolgreiche Transformation hin zu einer zirkulären Kunststoffwirtschaft erfordert kreative Ansätze entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette. Die Besuchenden dürfen sich auf interessante Präsentationen freuen, die die neuesten Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Geschäftsmodelle, Produktentwicklung sowie hochwertige Materialentwicklung beleuchten wie zum Beispiel Geotextilien oder Dachplanen. Auch Themen wie die Geruchsvermeidung von Rezyklaten, Leichtbauwerkstoffe auf Basis von Polymilchsäure (PLA) und die Gestaltung von Logistiknetzwerken und Digitalisierung werden behandelt. Miniatur-Wunderland zeigt zirkuläre Innovationen im Alltag
Ein besonderes Highlight am Stand des Fraunhofer CCPE ist das interaktive "Miniatur-Wunderland", das demonstriert, wie zirkuläre Innovationen im Alltag der Kunststoffwirtschaft umgesetzt werden können. Hier haben die Besuchenden die Möglichkeit, Dachbahnen aus biologisch abbaubaren Kunststoffen, innovative zirkuläre Logistiklösungen und einen neu gestalteten, modularen Kindersitz aus nachhaltigen Materialien zu entdecken. Dieser Kindersitz verkörpert die Prinzipien des Circular Design, ist reparierbar und setzt auf wiederverwendbare Bauteile. Zudem können Interessierte das Circular Readiness Level® (CRL®) Tool kennen lernen. Mit diesem Online-Tool werden Produkte einem ersten Zirkularitätscheck unterzogen. Das Resultat gibt wertvolle Einblicke sowie erste Informationen welche Produktionsprozesse optimiert werden können. Ein Publikumsmagnet ist zudem die Recyclingkaskade, an der für unterschiedliche Abfallströme die optimalen Recyclingpfade demonstriert werden.

Die Circular Valley Convention vom 12. Bis 13. März 2025 bietet eine Plattform für den Austausch über zirkuläre Lösungen, Strategien und Geschäftsmodelle. As the global demand for technical textiles surges, India is emerging as a key hub for innovation and growth. Recognizing the vast potential of this evolving market, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India announced a collaboration for ‘Techtextil India - the country’s premier platform for the technical textiles industry with Austrian Fibers Institute. This strategic alliance between the two-leading platforms in technical textiles will bring the Asia edition of the renowned Dornbirn GFC at a part of Techtextil India Symposium in 2025.

The 10th edition of Techtextil India 2025 which is scheduled from 19 – 21 November 2025, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, will open its doors for the Dornbirn Global fiber congress Asia on 18th November 2025 to be held under Techtextil India Symposium.

The Dornbirn GFC Asia in India 2025 will spotlight on theme titled as ‘Shaping the future: Sustainable Growth in Fiber Solutions and Innovations’. The conference will be led by globally acclaimed subject matter experts, researchers, manufacturers and thought leaders.

The GFC Asia – India Conference will host a diverse line-up of speakers from India and around the world, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and expertise in the fiber and textile industry. The discussions will spotlight ground-breaking advances in spinning technology.

Driven by intensive research and development, the upcoming edition of the Techtextil India will present the innovative strides made by the industry players. Fraunhofer UMSICHT präsentiert auf der Messe BAU vom 13. bis zum 17. Januar 2025 seine Expertise im Bereich der Pilzwerkstoffe als biogene Materialquelle auf dem Gemeinschaftsstand der Fraunhofer-Allianz Bau Anwendungsbeispiele verdeutlichen, wo Werkstoffe aus Pilzmyzel einsetzbar sind. Unter dem Motto »FungiFacturingArt« stellen die Wissenschaftler*innen zudem im Inneren eines »Innovation Cubes« verschiedene künstlerische Exponate aus Myzelmaterial aus.

Die Fraunhofer-Allianz Bau präsentiert unter dem Motto »ZukunftsMissionBau – bezahlbar.nachhaltig.sicher« Innovationen zu diesen drei wichtigen Transformationsbereichen des Bauens: Nachhaltigkeit, Produktivität und Sicherheit/Resilienz. Die beteiligten Fraunhofer-Institute stellen vor, wie beispielsweise Produktionsgewinne mittels Digitalisierung oder KI zu erreichen sind, mit welchen CO2-negativen Verfahren und Baustoffen energiepositive Gebäude, Quartiere oder Städte entstehen können, oder welche Lösungen es bereits für mehr Resilienz gegen den Klimawandel durch kreislauffähige Produktdesigns gibt.

Potenziale des Myzelmaterials
Pilzmaterialien haben das Potenzial, Ressourcen- und Klimaschutz in nachhaltigen Produkten umzusetzen. Das Institut bietet ein Myzeltechnikum mit leistungsstarker Infrastruktur für Materialhandling, Wachstum und Prototypenbau.

Auf der Messe BAU können die Besuchenden erste konkrete Anwendungsbeispiele kennen lernen - u.a. auch ein 1 mal 1,2 Meter großes Fassadenelement, das das Fraunhofer ISE und Fraunhofer UMSICHT im Projekt Bau-DNS entwickelten. Es ist ein vorgefertigtes Fassadenelement, das Integrierte Photovoltaik, Stromgewinnung, Wetterschutz und Wärmedämmung aus Pilzmaterial in sich vereint.

Darüber hinaus sind im Inneren eines »Innovation Cubes« verschiedene künstlerische Exponate aus Myzelmaterial zu sehen. Im Rahmen des Projekts FungiFacturingArt - gefördert vom Fraunhofer-Netzwerk Wissenschaft, Kunst und Design – bringen der Vortrag »Behind the artist« (14. Januar, 14:20 Uhr) und ein Mitmachworkshop »Meet the artist: Pilze als Baustoff – Myzel als Wegbereiter in eine nachhaltige Zukunft?« (14. Januar, 14:40 Uhr) das Thema den Messebesuchenden näher.

At this year's CINTE Techtextil fair in Shanghai, DILO received the innovation award for its intensive needling technology “MicroPunch”. Recent developments in energy costs, particularly for electricity and gas, and given the increasing shortage of water resources, have led to a shift in thinking over the past few years. Together with economic efficiency, the evaluation of the environmental impact of production has become increasingly important.

For DILO, this meant focusing on needling technology for the fine and lightweight nonwoven sector over the last years. The individual elements of the intensive needling technology underwent a complete revision. It became clear that the high production rates could only be achieved using the two-dimensional kinematics of the needle beam of "HyperPunch" or "CycloPunch." The necessary high feed rates of around 50 mm per stroke, coupled with the highest stitching densities to achieve good abrasion resistance, led to a need of a significant increase of the number of needles and needle density—almost doubling from approximately 20,000 needles/meter/board to around 45,000 needles/meter/board. It also became obvious that ensuring a high efficiency rate in production also required the careful attention to a quick assembly of the needle boards with needle modules. A completely new approach was needed in the design and construction of the needle boards to enable rapid module exchange and achieve a very high mechanical precision.

Previously, needling technology was primarily used for a surface weight range starting at 100 g/m² up to several kilograms per m². The expansion into the range below 100 g/m², and potentially down to 30 g/m², now completes the applicability of needling technology. The intensive needling technology "MicroPunch" opens up an economical field for a wide variety of lightweight nonwoven fabrics that can be produced by a pure mechanical processes. The product characteristics achieved, such as abrasion resistance, are comparable to those of hydroentangeld nonwovens. Needled fabrics tend to have more volume and more stretch while offering similar tensile strength values. These special quality characteristics are particularly interesting for applications in hygiene, medicine, cosmetics, and for technical products.

With this new development, the energy required to produce lightweight nonwoven fabrics has been reduced up to approximately 75% compared to other bonding technologies of this segment.

The German Pavilion is confirmed to return from 19 – 21 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. For the first time since borders reopened, industry leaders gathering under the banner will bolster the fair’s innovation and sustainability with a comprehensive showcase, from raw materials to machinery, complemented by diversified fringe events across the fairground.

Located in a prime area of the International Hall, the German Pavilion is set to draw crowds with its reputable products and technology. Assembling under the pavilion this year will be some new and returning German exhibitors, having made their names in the sub-categories of automotive nonwovens, industrial-use monofilaments, weaving machinery, and many more. After confirming their participation, Hansa Industrie-Mixer, J.H. Ziegler Nonwovens and New Materials, Lindauer Dornier, Monosuisse, and Perlon will showcase their expertise together with other highlighted exhibitors, including:

• Autefa Solutions – A full-service provider for turnkey nonwoven lines and machines, the company offers machines for fibre opening and blending, carding, crosslapping, needle punching, spunlace, thermobonding, amongst others. At the fair, the company will showcase technology spanning 10 application areas.
• Emtec Electronic – The company develops specialised test devices for the nonwoven and textile industries. An innovation said to quantify handfeel, its TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer objectively measures the softness, smoothness and stiffness of textiles and nonwovens, as well as their recovery and elongation.
• Neuenhauser Group – The Neuenhauser Textile division provides fully-automated cleaning systems, transport automation solutions, winding technology, high-performance can coilers and weaving machine accessories. With decades of experience, the Group will debut at the fair with various innovative Agrotech, Buildtech, and Geotech solutions.
• Reifenhauser Enka Tecnica – A specialised provider of spinnerets and precision components to the man-made fibre industry. The company manufactures a broad spectrum of spinnerets and spin packs for all spinning processes, as well as premium jet strips for hydro-entangling with extra-long service life.
• Reifenhauser Reicofil – A well-known provider of spunbond, meltblown and composite lines for nonwoven applications in the hygiene, medical, filtration and industrial sectors. Offering a wide range of machinery at the show, the company is developing technical solutions for sophisticated and sustainable applications, with a strong focus on machine intelligence and energy efficiency.

New fringe events to further advocate innovation and sustainability
At this year’s fair, AiDLab^[1] will present its AI-based Textile Inspection System (AiTIS). A world first, AiTIS automatically and accurately detects material defects in nonwovens (especially for mask making), and various textiles, reflecting the collaborative efforts of AiDLab and a Hong Kong healthcare brand. At the event, Professor Calvin Wong, CEO & Centre Director of AiDLab, will introduce the system. This will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session with independent consultant Mr Eric Sham and moderated by AiDLab’s Mr Barry Tai, including insights on how advanced technology is reshaping the textile industry landscape.

Going beyond innovation, the fringe programme will also for the first time include Econogy Talks^[2] and sustainability tours to reflect Messe Frankfurt’s commitment to a sustainable future. With four months until the show opens doors, key exhibitors have already confirmed participation for the Cinte Techtextil China 2024. In conjunction with a positive global outlook, key players are eager to congregate again at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 19 – 21 September, to showcase innovations and connect with buyers from various sectors.
 
The fair will closely align with Messe Frankfurt’s ‘Texpertise Econogy’ – the umbrella for the group’s sustainability activities at its more than 50 textile trade shows worldwide. New energy elements, such as battery and hydrogen, will appear at the Innovation Showcase Area, on top of other interactive fringe events which centre around sustainability.

With environmental protection as one of the top sourcing categories at the previous edition, products with medical, home, protection, and building applications rounded out the top five. By product group, in-demand sourcing categories included nonwovens; technology and accessories; woven fabrics, laid webs, knitted fabrics, braidings; composites; as well as coated textiles and bondtec. The show saw 15,542 visits from 52 countries and regions last year.

Catering to various key players in 2023, the well-known Groz-Beckert East Asia brought their latest innovative needling tools for the nonwovens sector. Speaking at the show, Mr Kabilen Sornum, Vice President Asia Pacific of Marketing & E-Commerce, commented: “While we are focusing on the China market, we have also seen buyers from the Middle East, Europe, Korea, and North Asia. Cinte Techtextil China is a more international fair – we can see that everyone is here, and the quality and innovation of buyers has improved greatly in the past three to four years.
