Oeko-Tex Standard 100

List of Criteria

The prerequisite for certification of a product under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is that all components, including non-textile components, comply with the strict requirements of the list of criteria, which is updated annually. The list of criteria consists of over 100 test parameters designed to guarantee that the textiles are not harmful to health. It is binding on all authorised Oeko-Tex test institutes. The criteria and limit values often set new standards. This means that in addition to legally banned or controlled substances, the list also includes other substances that have been scientifically assessed as possibly harmful to health. It also includes parameters of a precautionary nature.

The test parameters in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 include among others:

  • pH value
  • Formaldehyde*
  • Extractable heavy metals
  • Pesticides
  • Chlorinated phenols*
  • Chlorinated benzenes and toluenes
  • Phthalates
  • TBT, DBT
  • Banned AZO dyes*
  • Allergy-inducing dispers dyes
  • Colour-fastness
  • Emissions of volatile organic compounds
  • Odour
  • n Biologically active products and flame-retardant products are regulated separately

* In Europe there are legally controlled parameters for products
