No matter whether it comes with a fold-out table, built-in connections
or full convertibility, upholstered furniture should increasingly be distinguished
by great adaptability. The International Trade Fair for
Home and Contract Textiles and partners, Trevira CS and Polster-
Fashion, invite young designers to create multifunctional upholstered
furniture for the hotel industry. These designs are the focus of the 4th
Young Contract Creations Awards: Upholstery, the tagline for which is
“sit and more”.
The prize for young talents is aimed at budding product, furniture and
textile designers and gives them the chance to introduce themselves
to a wide international trade audience at the biggest trade fair for
home textiles from 12 to 15 January 2011. The award-winning designs
will be on display during the fair at a special show. >>read

Under the motto 'guided by creativity', the next Heimtextil will open its doors in Frankfurt am Main from 12 to 15 January 2011. Even at this early stage, all the signs point to a large number of exhibitors at the fair. 'Our exhibitors have shown a great interest in the early-booking discount and we are more than pleased with the echo and the number of registrations received to date", says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President, Textile Fairs, of Messe Frankfurt.
For four days, Frankfurt will be the focal point of the international home and contract textiles sector and present the latest trends and highlights for the coming season. Following the successful reorientation of the household-textiles segment in 2010, the coming event will be characterised by conceptual changes to the home-textiles segment with some product groups being redefined. "With the implementation of the concept, we aim to make the Heimtextil more dynamic than ever before. We are confident that these changes will bring about a considerable improvement in the product-group arrangement", explains Olaf Schmidt. "By rounding-off certain product segments from the home-textiles section, we aim to generate new synergetic effects which will be of equal benefit to both visitors and exhibitors", adds Schmidt. >>read

This year's Heimtextil, International Trade Fair for Home and Contract
Textiles, closed its doors in January after having generated extremely
positive signals for the textile sector. During the four days of
the fair, over 2,500 exhibitors from 60 countries presented new
collections, designs and innovations for the coming business year.
Particular interest was shown in the Heimtextil Trend Show in the
Forum, which was the work of French stylist Carlin International.
Trade visitors agreed that the economic crisis had had a considerable
impact and this was also to be seen in the Heimtextil trends for
2010/11. "The post-crisis time is characterised by the appearance
of new and spontaneous creativity", says Mayouri Sengchanh,
General Manager of Exalis GmbH and the representative of Carlin
International in Germany, Switzerland and Russia. "This is
reflected particularly clearly by the 'Intuition' trend, which shows
developments with a universal language comprising a blend of patterns
and colours", adds Sengchanh.
In mid-March, six international
design studios got together for the Trendtable in Frankfurt am Main
and prepared the Heimtextil Trend for 2011/12. For two days, designers
from Japan, Great Britain, France, The Netherlands, Germany and
Italy exchanged ideas and opinions and reviewed innumerable pictures,
new materials and textures from all over the world. The individual
trend ideas of the designer studios were discussed, developed and
moulded into joint, international trend forecasts for the coming
18 months. "The working relationship with the different studios
is a new and fascinating experience every year", says Heike
Dietz, Trend Coordinator of Messe Frankfurt. "The atmosphere
during the two very busy days is friendly, familiar and very cooperative.
Only under such circumstances, is it possible to bring together
six different styles into the international Heimtextil Trend",
adds Dietz. >>read
