IVC-Vorstand: Stefan Braun folgt auf Klaus Holz

Neuer Vorsitzender der Industrievereinigung Chemiefaser e. V. ist Stefan Braun, Geschäftsführer der Indorama Ventures Mobility Obernburg GmbH.

Braun, der das Amt zwischen 2014 und 2020 bereits zweimal ausgeübt hatte, wurde im Juni 2023 auf der IVC-Jahresmitgliederversammlung in Lenzing, Österreich, gewählt. Klaus Holz, Geschäftsführer der Indorama Ventures Fibers Germany GmbH, stand nach einer Amtszeit als IVC-Vorsitzender und zwei vorangegangenen Amtsperioden als stellvertretender Vorsitzender für eine Wiederwahl nicht mehr zur Verfügung.

Zum Stellvertreter bestimmte die IVC-Mitgliederversammlung Dieter Feldmann, Geschäftsführer der CERDIA Produktions GmbH. Er folgt auf Werner Häller, COO der Monosuisse AG, der für diese Position nicht mehr kandidierte. Der bisherige Schatzmeister der IVC, Dr. Till Boldt, Geschäftsführer der ENKA International Lux SE & Co. KG, wurde in seinem Amt für die fünfte Amtszeit in Folge bestätigt.

Alle Wahlen erfolgten turnusgemäß. Abweichend von der üblichen Mandatierung auf 3 Jahre, ließ sich der Vorstand verkürzt bis zum Juni 2024 wählen.

Der promovierte Chemiker und REACH-Experte freut sich darauf, künftig auch branchenübergreifend Unternehmen mit seiner Expertise zur Verfügung zu stehen.

INDA: Six New Members to the 2023 Board of Directors

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, welcomes six new members to its 2023 Board of Directors. The Board of Directors are responsible for contributing to INDA’s strategic focus in support of the industry. They inform INDA’s policies and programs to ensure the association meets the needs of their more than 360 corporate members.

The Board is comprised of elected Board Officers. One-third of the entire Board is elected each year for a three-year term by a majority vote of INDA’s general membership. INDA’s Executive Committee, empowered to act on behalf of the Board between meetings, consists of the Board Officers plus four appointees.

The new board members are:

Ricardo Fasolo, Managing Vice President, Fitesa Inc.
Ricardo Fasolo is Managing Vice President for Fitesa in North America. He is responsible for all operations, sales, business development and P&L activities for the region. Mr. Fasolo has been with Fitesa since 2005. During this period, he has worked in various roles from leading the supply chain management in Latin America to Sales in the USA. Prior to joining Fitesa, Mr. Fasolo worked for a Tier 1 OEM supplier responsible for producing assisted steering gear systems.

Neil Johnson, President, AstenJohnson
Neil Johnson is President of AJ Nonwovens, a division of AstenJohnson Holdings, a multinational private technical textiles company. AJ Nonwovens is a newly branded entity that includes Foss Performance Materials, Eagle Nonwovens, and a new greenfield site in Waco, Texas. As President, Mr. Johnson has responsibility for all aspects of AstenJohnson’s Nonwovens business. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Johnson regularly updates the Board of Directors on matters of strategic significance and has a proven track record of leadership and broad business experience.
Mr. Johnson has spent 33 years with AstenJohnson in a variety of roles. These include VP of business development, VPHR, and General Management. A dual US / Canadian citizen, he has lived and worked in both countries and had global leadership responsibility. Outside of work, Mr. Johnson has had experience on several boards.  He has served as treasurer of a $10 million charitable foundation, served as President of the Board for a large non-profit in Charleston, SC and served on the Board of the Charleston youth hockey league. Mr. Johnson graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with a Bachelor of Commerce and an International MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Chris Roeder, Director – Strategy, Marketing & Innovation, Global Cellulose Fibers, International Paper
Chris Roeder joined International Paper (IP) in 1996 in Kansas City, MO, as an engineer for IP’s Consumer Packaging business. Over the next 20 years, Mr. Roeder held a variety of leadership roles with increasing responsibility in Beverage Packaging, Foodservice and Coated Paperboard, where he focused on business and product development as well as sales management. In 2016, Mr. Roeder was named Marketing Director for IP’s Containerboard business and was responsible for a number of key strategic initiatives.
In 2020, he was named Regional General Manager for IP’s North American Container business, and later that same year, he was named Director – Strategy, Marketing & Innovation for IP’s Global Cellulose Fibers business. In his current role, Mr. Roeder is responsible for collaborating across the business and enterprise to develop IP’s go-to-market strategy. He and his team work closely with the Sales team to drive successful innovations for IP’s customers.

Paul E. Rollin, Jr., Ph.D., Senior Principal – Global Hygiene, ExxonMobil Product Solutions Company
Paul Rollin earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and his Ph.D. in Polymer Science from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. Dr. Rollin began his career with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. developing “Flashspun” nonwoven products in the Tyvek® Business. He later transferred from Richmond, VA to Old Hickory, TN where he provided technical support to manufacturing, as well as led product development efforts for bi-component spunmelt fibers and fabrics.
For the past 11 years, Dr. Rollin has worked for ExxonMobil in Baytown, TX. During this time, his roles and responsibilities have included developing new products based on polyolefin resins, customer and application development. In 2018, he became the Global Nonwovens Team Lead at ExxonMobil. Dr. Rollin has several patents and has contributed to the nonwovens industry for more than 24 years.

Jodi Russell, Vice President R&D, Cleaning Innovation, Packaging & Sustainability, The Clorox Company
Jodi Russell has spent 25 years leading global innovation across multiple categories in the consumer-packaged goods industry. She began her career at P&G after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. Chemical Engineering, and has continued for 20 years at Clorox creating consumer-winning products in Cleaning, Foods, Litter, Trash, Natural Personal Care and Water Filtration. Ms. Russell is an innovation leader, with a proven track record of driving profitable growth, with current R&D responsibility for >$2B product portfolio including the company’s flagship Clorox Bleach™ and Clorox Disinfecting Wipes™ businesses. Ms. Russell excels in setting vision for R&D that leads to breakthroughs and in collaborating with industry partners to create leading edge technology for the Clorox global portfolio.

Julie Schertell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mativ
Julie Schertell is Mativ’s President and Chief Executive Officer and serves on its Board of Directors. As the former Neenah Inc. Chief Executive Officer, she held numerous leadership positions within the company over the last 14 years, including Chief Operations Officer, Segment President of Technical Products and Fine Paper & Packaging and Vice President and General Manager of Fine Paper & Packaging.
Ms. Schertell began her career at Georgia-Pacific in 1992 as a Cost Analyst in a plant supporting Consumer Products. She served in several roles over her 16-year career there, all within the Consumer Products Division, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing Strategy, Vice President of Supply Chain, Director of Sales Operations and Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. Ms. Schertell graduated from Florida State University’s College of Business in 1991 with a BA in Accounting and received her MAcc degree from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in 1992.

Nico Reiner als neuer Chief Financial Officer der Lenzing AG

Der Aufsichtsrat der Lenzing AG hat Nico Reiner zum neuen Chief Financial Officer bestellt. Nico Reiner wird ab 01.01.2023 Teil des Lenzing Vorstands unter dem Vorsitz von Chief Executive Officer Stephan Sielaff. Er folgt in der Position des Finanzvorstands Thomas Obendrauf nach, der das Unternehmen nach sieben Jahren auf eigenen Wunsch verlassen wird.

Nico Reiner war zuvor unter anderem als CFO in global agierenden Unternehmen wie der Schüco Gruppe, der AL-KO Gruppe und der Pfleiderer Group sowie als Unternehmensberater, tätig. Zuletzt war er als CFO der Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. Indorama Ventures to expand packaging business into Vietnam

  • Strengthening market position in Asia-Pacific

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL), a global sustainable chemical company, announces that it is in the process of acquiring shares in Ngoc Nghia Industry – Service – Trading Joint Stock Company (NN).

NN is a leading PET converter in Vietnam with long-standing relationships with major brands. It has four manufacturing sites in both the North and South of Vietnam. It has a total production capacity of approximately 5.5 billion units of PET preforms, bottles and closures, or equivalent to a PET conversion of 76,000 tons per annum.

The acquisition process is required to follow the Law on Securities, its guiding decrees and circulars as required by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and regulations of the Hanoi Stock Exchange. Through its affiliate, Indorama Netherlands B.V., IVL would be required to do the tender offer of all of NN’s shares. The transaction is expected to be completed by the first half of 2022.

Indorama Ventures strengthens its management council with new role rotations

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited announced it has strengthened its Indorama Management Council (IMC) – the company’s highest operational management committee – by rotating experienced executives and adding the COOs of the Fibers and Integrated Oxides & Derivatives (IOD) segments.

The elevation of Mr Christopher Kenneally, COO of Fibers, and Mr Alastair Port, COO of IOD, to the IMC – will enable more agile decision making as they build their high-growth segments into self-sustaining organizations that maximize value for IVL stakeholders. The appointments are effective immediately.

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited announced it has strengthened its Indorama Management Council (IMC) – the company’s highest operational management committee – by rotating experienced executives and adding the COOs of the Fibers and Integrated Oxides & Derivatives (IOD) segments.

In a rotation of roles, Mr Sanjay Ahuja, the current CFO of IVL, will switch to Interim COO of Combined PET (CPET) for a period of 2 years, effective January 2022, as part of a rotation of senior expertise across the IMC. He will report to Mr D K Agarwal as CEO, who will take on additional broader responsibilities as CFO. The CPET role rotation will enable new dynamism in this largest segment of IVL and establish a self-sustaining organization for the permanent successor that IMC selects over this period. Mr Agarwal will be supported by Mr Ashok Jain in an enhanced role as Controller, covering Banking & Finance, Global Consolidation, Taxation and M&A.

Further, Mr Klaus Holz will join the IMC as Chief Human Resources Officer, effective 1 January 2022. He replaces Mr Roberto Bettini who will retire at the end of 2021.

Avgol names Tommi Bjornman as new CEO

Avgol, a subsidiary of global petrochemical producer Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL),  appointed Mr. Tommi Bjornman as its new CEO, replacing Mr. Shachar Rachim who takes up a broader role as CEO leading the Hygiene vertical of IVL’s Fibers business.

Mr. Bjornman’s new position with Avgol took effect on 1 June, 2021. The Hygiene business is one of 16 integrated verticals under Indorama Ventures, and comprises brands including Avgol, Auriga, FiberVisions, ES FiberVisions, Trevira and Wellman. The Hygiene vertical provides fibers and filaments used in hygiene, medical, personal protective equipment (PPE) and industrial disposable applications as well as durable textile applications used for automotive interiors, furnishings, wall and window coverings and related goods. Mr. Bjornman continues to report to Mr. Rachim who retains his role as an Avgol Board member.

SGL Carbon SE: Vorstand beschließt Restrukturierungsprogramm

Im aktuellen Stand der 5-Jahresplanung, die sich derzeit in der Erstellung befindet, zeichnen sich bereits heute signifikante Abweichungen vor allem in den Marktsegmenten Automobil, Luftfahrt und Windenergie im Geschäftsbereich Composites – Fibers & Materials (CFM) ab. Die Entwicklung bei Automobil und Luftfahrt wird auch pandemiebedingt niedriger als im letzten 5-Jahresplan erwartet. Dagegen wächst das Geschäft mit der Windenergie deutlich stärker als antizipiert. Diese Veränderung im Produktmix führt zu einem niedrigeren mittelfristigen Ergebnis bei CFM im Vergleich zur alten 5-Jahresplanung. Aufgrund dieser Abweichungen zum letzten 5-Jahresplan wurde eine anlassbezogene Werthaltigkeitsüberprüfung durchgeführt. Daraus zeichnet sich ein nicht zahlungswirksamer Wertminderungsaufwand von 80-100 Mio. € ab, der im vierten Quartal 2020 gebucht wird.

Der Vorstand der SGL Carbon SE hat heute auch entschieden, ein Restrukturierungsprogramm umzusetzen, mit dem das Unternehmen Einsparungen in Höhe von mehr als 100 Mio. € bis zum Jahr 2023 (gegenüber dem Basisjahr 2019) avisiert. Diese Einsparungen setzen sich zusammen aus einem geplanten sozialverträglichen Personalabbau von über 500 Mitarbeitern und umfangreichen Sachkosteneinsparungen vor allem in den Bereichen Reisekosten, Beraterkosten sowie externe Dienstleistungen. Zur Umsetzung dieses Restrukturierungsprogramms werden insgesamt Kosten in Höhe von etwa 40 Mio. € erwartet. Etwas mehr als die Hälfte hiervon wird voraussichtlich im vierten Quartal 2020 aufwandswirksam gebucht, wogegen die dazugehörigen Auszahlungen im Wesentlichen erst im Jahr 2021 erwartet werden.

Damit wird eine teilweise Anpassung der Prognose für 2020 erforderlich. Die solide operative Entwicklung im dritten Quartal 2020 mit zwischen 220 bis 230 Mio. € im Konzernumsatz und zwischen 13 und 15 Mio. € im operativen Konzern-EBIT1 vor Sondereinflüssen (zuzüglich rund 9 Mio. positive Einmaleffekte) liegt im Rahmen der Einschätzung für das Gesamtjahr 2020. Allerdings dürfte sich das Konzernergebnis nun aufgrund der Rückstellungen für die Umsetzung des Restrukturierungsprogramms sowie der Wertminderung unter dem Vorjahresergebnis von minus 90 Mio. € und in etwa zwischen minus 130 und 150 Mio. € entwickeln (bisherige Prognose: Verbesserung auf einen negativen niedrigen zweistelligen Mio. €-Betrag).

Mit einer Liquidität von 167 Mio. € zum 30. September 2020 (gegenüber 137 Mio. € zum Jahresende 2019) und weiteren im vierten Quartal 2020 erwarteten Mittelzuflüssen aus erfolgreich umgesetzten Maßnahmen zur Generierung von zusätzlichen Finanzmitteln ist das Unternehmen solide aufgestellt. Damit ist die Liquidität mehr als ausreichend für die Ende 2020 geplante Kaufpreiszahlung für SGL Composites USA in Höhe von 62 Mio. USD sowie die erwarteten Auszahlungen für das Restrukturierungsprogramm vor allem im Geschäftsjahr 2021. Darüber hinaus besteht weiterhin Zugang zum syndizierten Kredit über 175 Mio. €, der unverändert nicht gezogen ist.

Die Quartalsmitteilung zum 30. September 2020 wird wie geplant am 12. November 2020 veröffentlicht.

Weitere Details zum neuen 5-Jahresplan sowie die Prognose für das Geschäftsjahr 2021 werden zur Vorlage des Geschäftsberichts 2020 am 25. März 2021 veröffentlicht.

Um den Know-how- und Technologietransfer in Zeiten der Corona Pandemie weiterhin sicherzustellen, startet das Segment Manmade Fibers des Schweizer Oerlikon Konzerns ab November seine neue Webinar Serie. In den bis Ende 2020 zunächst geplanten vier interessanten Technologievorträgen in englischer Sprache werden aktuelle Trends bei der Produktion von Chemiefasern betrachtet sowie Oerlikons Lösungen dazu präsentiert und mit den Teilnehmern diskutiert. Eine Fortsetzung der Webinar Serie für 2021 ist bereits in Arbeit.
