Background
The textile industry, a traditional prop industry in china, will come up against two major challenges in the new century, one being the increasingly stronger hi-tech tendency led by information progress, and the other being the expedite tendency of economic globalization and market integration marked with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The former has not only created higher labor productivity but also sped up the progress of economic globalization in the textile industry, while the latter has not only brought favorable factors of participating in the international competition but also internationalized the domestic markets of most countries and increased the risks of lagging the productive forces. Therefore, the Chinese textile industry must upgrade its industrial structure as quickly as possible to enhance their competitiveness in the world market.
Compared with other traditional industries in the country, the textile industry has comparatively obvious advantages in the international market. With China's entry into WTO, the State Information Progress Promotion Office has listed the textile industry as an experimental site of enterprise information progress, which provided a god-given opportunity for the textile industry to quicken its pace of information progress, and bring along it the structural adjustment, as well as further improve the industry's overall quality and competitiveness. Thus as the times require there emerge the China Textile Network Company (short as CNTEX www.ctei.gov.cn). CNTEX is striving for the goal of becoming the most authoritative and most influential information progress construction supplier in the country, who provides the most excellent services of information consultation, e-commerce and technical supports for the vast textile enterprises, and makes contribution to the promotion of information progress for the textile industry.
